    What were citroen thinking?

      An excellent summary. Quite clearly they weren't. Gutted, wanted one so badly for the 'micro-van-life'.

    Superb video, thank you. 😊 Contacted 3 Citroen dealers and none of them had a clue because the electric version does not have the mesh bulkhead.

      Nor did the one I ordered a diesel Berlingo from yesterday. It's the having to pootle along at slow speeds that is the deal-breaker. I don't mind looking like Postman Pat but driving as slow as him will drive me nuts.

    I think its to do with EU regulations.
    They stopped producing ice car models but due to demand (or lack of ) for the E-Berlingo they reintroduced them.
    With the bulkhead in place they are classed as lgv so can get around the EU regs.
    Thats what I was told.

      No, there's still the Ford tourneo courier and connect, even in long wheelbase it has no bulkhead.

      "Getting round the EU regs" is what Chorley Group Citroen Wigan told me too. It's a total mess. There shouldn't have been any need for you to remove the bulkhead, but I'm glad you did. It all seems very rushed from the decision to stop selling ICEs to saying the new 2024 Berlingo will be here in Spring. I've been told end of July for delivery. I've wanted one for 6 months, I have some time to make some calls before cancelling. It's a great car being hampered by stupidity.

      Ford did not stop producing internal combustion engine tourneo’s and only make electric ones.
      Eu regulations came into effect when Citroën stopped making ice berlingos only making electric ones so the ice berlingos when they started to re make them have to be classed as vans.
      Something to do with no new passenger ice vehicles models.
      Not 100% sure on the actual eu law but that’s the gist of it.

    Ive just orderd one on motability i don't think the kids will be happy sitting upright like that I saw the bolts i'll take mine out

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  5 місяців тому

      My kids didn’t like the seating position with the bulkhead in they said it felt like they were sitting too far forward.
      It is easy to remove.

      I just hope citreon start moaning when it goes in for the servis as its a motability car or try and say it will invalidate your warranty taking it out

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  5 місяців тому

      I have contacted Motobility and checked with them about the removal with regards to servicing, warranty and insurance.
      All are no problems. DLM insurance (used to be RSA)said I didn’t need to tell them as they do not see it as a modification (personally I would still just to dot the i’s etc).

      Thanks for the reply but it's not like it's anything structural it's just to get around the new laws i think they expect people to take then out ans there only bolted you might need to move something long theres no hatch i also noticed there are still cup holders in the boot behind the seats how you supposed to reach them he he if the seats went back properly I'd keep it in for the dogs they don't think things though

      It’s all because they stopped making ice versions and went all electric.
      But with 140 mile range (90 irl) there was hardly anyone interested.
      EU regs on new ice versions kicked in hence van status.
      I personally only drive 60 on dual carriageways any way due to wife’s ptsd after two crashes (both none fault) so that doesn’t matter to me along with there’s not many dc’s around me.

    Just an update on my previous comment that my citroen main dealer will remove the bulkhead prior to delivery,they have now taken back that offer as Citroen have told them they must not be touched at source,of course once out of the dealership it's up to you!

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  6 місяців тому +2

      It’s easy enough to do (must be as I did it 😁).

    • @England-Bob

      I drove around with the bulkhead in place for a couple of days to see if it mattered to me (it did).
      I found the view in the rear view mirror was poor as my eyes went straight to the bulkhead meshing and not the view behind it.
      On the rearview mirror I personally found it too small and the anti dazzle toggle awkward to use I have long legs so seat is quite far back and the toggle is quite far forward.
      I got around this by buying a mirror dash cam from The Range for £7.99 (normally £15) whilst I do not use the actual dash cam function (already have one fitted ) it works perfectly as a anti dazzle mirror as it is tinted and gives a much bigger viewing area.

      @@England-Bob Many thanks for the video. You may well have saved me from making a mistake and thanks to all those who have posted comments, much appreciated. Other than putting Fido in the boot for walkies, I cannot see the point of selling this vehicle with the bulkhead unless in some twisted logic it's to force you to buy the e-Berlingo? or just pee people off? I had thought I'd be able to put 2 seats down, fit a boot hoist to carry in my 1.2m boot scooter in one piece. I don't want to have to dismantle a bulkhead, I want it to be fit for purpose when it leaves the showroom. It's why I'm using Motability, no messing with insurance, road tax, MOTs, servicing and no time off work to have to do it. Thanks for the warning.

    Thank you for this upload,I have a Berlingo diesel auto due mid May on motorbility and the dealership are removing the bulkhead for me,they said most ICE Berlingo customers are requsting it,it looks as if the 2nd row of seats after bulhead removal are slightly more reclined as with the bulkhead they are a little too verticle? 🙂👍

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому +2

      Mine is via Motobility my dealer said they were not allowed to remove it otherwise they would not be compliant with the EU rules covering new diesel vehicle emissions at point of sale.
      Hence me making this video.
      With the bulkhead in place the rear seat backs are more forward.
      My kids did not like the seating position.

      Ah interesting,both Toomey Citroen Southend and Basildon branch openly offered to remove the bulkhead for me and it is on my order form! We shall see what happens when it is actually delivered and ready.

    • @furstyferret81
      @furstyferret81 7 місяців тому +2

      This is not true as Ford still sell the tourneo connect and courier, even in diesel and long wheel base with no bulkhead. The real problem is your insurance could well be void as its registered as a van so the bulkhead is required and we'll as speed limited! What a mess!

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому +1

      Ford did not stop producing ice versions and then started again like Citroën did with the Berlingo.
      For most of last year the only option available was the e-Berlingo they completely stopped selling ice versions in the UK.

    • @furstyferret81
      @furstyferret81 7 місяців тому +2

      @yeahmyrealnameright5967 I heard from someone else that's the real reason for the bulkhead, they stopped making ice but had so many customers wanting them they had to quickly bring it back. The problem was the factory wasn't set up for them and certificates for the cars safety weren't up to date ss they used the still available and certified vans, which they just adjusted into 'cars'. So annoying as I was ready to buy a new one, the prices of 2nd hand xtr models are now more than when they were new! Dont know what to do now as the berlingo is the only car that ticks all the boxes, looks good too!

    Thanks for the upload :) can I ask are allowed to remove the bulkhead? Not some silly law to say we can't???

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому

      I haven’t found anything yet saying it shouldn’t be removed.
      My dealer said it would be ok for me to remove but they wasn’t allowed to otherwise it would not be covered as a lgv at point of sale.
      The electric version doesn’t have it.

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому +1

      I have just been in contact with my insurance as I see it as a modification.
      They can see no problem with it being removed and they do not see it as a modification.
      I would suggest informing them anyway best to tick any boxes beforehand.
      Even though I did it after lol.

    • @adriansutcliffe1519
      @adriansutcliffe1519 7 місяців тому +1

      Yes will do. When I was at the dealership I was told because of the bulkhead its classed as a van with 60 mph limit, so now with the bulkhead removed are you allowed to go 70mph lol

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому +1

      No bulkhead it is classed as a MPV.
      So 70 mph.

    • @England-Bob
      @England-Bob  7 місяців тому

      Sorry my previous statement was wrong.
      It is still classed as a van with the bulkhead removed.
      It will be in the van tax bracket.
      As regarding speed limits I’ve had no problems.
