Beautiful blade! Always thought it was interesting that the traditional Japanese method of joining the handle to the blade was by placing the hole in the blade slightly further forward than the hole in the handle. It forces the handle material forward when not using epoxy.
Your welcome Anthony but really this wouldn't be possible if there weren't cool people out there like you that want to try and learn something new! Cheers Anthony
That's a beauty of a knife blade contrast is just my kind of style the handle materials are next level aswell great eye for detail happy new year to you sir
There's definitely something very prehistoric feeling about the look of the knife with the shape and sanmai pattern. The tooth and bog oak compliment it well. Nice job!
I loved this design. It almost looks like a fang, and what with the prehistoric handle components, it could have been a caveman fang! Awesome job, bro. You were swingin' for the fences in 2021! Get yourself in the comments section of other knife-makers, for more exposure. Kerching!! 💪🏻 🤜💥🤛
Just for clarification... I’ve worked with wood my entire life for the forestry commission etc looking after woodland all over the uk 🇬🇧... where did you acquire the bog oak... because to my trained eye that looks like torrified oak not bog oak... they cook the wood at higher temperatures to give it this colour and take all the moisture oak... bog oak generally hardly shows the grain and the mottled look of your piece of wood suggests to me torrification
Its absolutely beautiful! I'm with you on the coloring of the bog oak complimenting the mammoth tooth. Is it the most exotic? Jeez Lopez, that's a tough one since you've mase a lot of knives with unique handle material(s) and blade embellishments, but this one is probably in the top 3
Definitely your top knife of all time in my view, bog oak is one of my favourite handle materials but believe me we sometimes get BO here in Ireland as hard as the mammoth tooth but it actually polishes up like marble 👍🏻happy new year
Hey there, happy new year! That is a really cool video, it is great to see someone pushing the boundaries with different materials and methods. Your tip to leave extra material when shaping so that you get a feel for how these new materials work is great. The final product is amazing; the layers in the mammoth tooth kind of look like Damascus steel and really set off the blade and handle. Keep up the good work and keep well :-)
People don't come to my vhannel to just get on with it. They come here for a more thorough understanding of knife making and what goes into it. If it's not your thing you can kindly move on. Cheers

@@Aleeknives There is a comment above, that says I'm a winner of your giveaway. That's probably a spam, isn't it? Thanks anyway
Total scam bro! So sorry
Incredible workmanship. I've said this before, but thank you for really teaching, instead just of being a show-off like so many other youtubers.
Your welcome Anthony but really this wouldn't be possible if there weren't cool people out there like you that want to try and learn something new! Cheers Anthony

Interesting! I got this from stab-wood in Russia
That came out really clean! I love the color choice and the overall shape is awesome, beautiful work!💯💯

Looks Awesome Airin!
Cant wait to see what you do with coppet and nickel together...
Greetings from Deutschland Fellow Bladesman....;-)
Cheers
Beautiful work, Airin. Your Bowie build off knife was my favorite of this year. Regardless, the fit and finish of your knives is always excellent.
Yeah I'm going to feature the Bowie as my personal favorite of 2021

Awesome! Thank you. I wish I could get some of that hardened bog oak. Even after it is stabilized it os kind of soft
@@Aleeknives I’ll organise some for you it’s basically lying around everywhere in the bogs here 👍🏻

The only thing wrong is the beauty exceeds function it is no longer a knife it's a work of art
Wow! Thank you Kyle!
Not a problem mate speaking the truth PS us Aussies call everyone mate don't take offence
I use mate a lot myself! Cheers
I love your work, but you never show how you put the 2 different handle material together before fitting.
Bit of skill getting it flush
Great idea for a new video!
Your assessment of bog wood was slightly off.... not hundreds.. most bog oak is at least 5000 years old
Think the tang could have been longer.
I do too, but you work within the parameters that you have
Beautiful workmanship though.
Thank you sir!
