I fear you may have awakened a terrible hunger in the Magical Girl community. I never even watched Sailor Moon as a kid. (I was a tomboy and had not yet discovered complex stories and mature themes could be found beneath the bright smiles and flamboyant costumes, I had to learn that from Superman TAS.) But as someone who recently discovered hopepunk, I would eat up a Dark Fantasy Magical Girl story up with freaking spoon. If someone comes up with a new IP like this i will be first in line.

If this was released I couldnt buy it fast enough. I am now a grown ass man, but I grew up watching Sailor Moon before heading off to school. Everything looks so amazing, my thoughts are swirling with all the amazing directions you could take the IP. Always keeping an eye out for your future endeavors.

Tbh if you look past the genre of the anime and manga and just dive straight in, you'd be hard to just pass Sailor Moon as a mahou shoujo product. I'm nearing 40 in a few years and I can bet I'd take my time to rethink my life if I read and watch Sailor Moon again!

Besides Elden Ring and Sailor Moon, this reminds me a lot of the atmosphere of Nier and Drakengard. In particular, seeing elaborate statues of the Scouts all together makes me think of the Intoners from Drakengard 3.
Absolutely amazing. Once again you have left me speechless. Your work is way better than most AAA studios. The concept of the 4 statues and the sword is right out of Demon Souls. Entering each realm of the Guardians and battling mini bosses in different levels until you fight one of the tainted Sailor Scouts. I would actually wait 3 to 5 years for this on steam. I love how you make what should be opposite concepts (souls games and magical girls) meld together so beautifully. There is so much incredible skill that went into this project.

In her interviews she mentioned that she wanted to take the darker approach that would include the irrevocable death of the main characters and you can really feel that behind the facade of seemingly cheerful manga. The existential loneliness, crushing responsibility on the young girls’ shoulders and burden of sacrificing oneself over and over is something that touches me deeply in the ‘magical girls” genre. And if we just shift the accents a bit, we see that these themes are not that far from the themes of dark fantasy games (souls games in particular).
Oof, this hit me right in the childhood! At first glance, shoujo cuteness and dark fantasy seem so far removed from each other… and yet you’re right, brush the lines of sailormoon with the colors of elden ring and BAM! This is awesome!

I’ve never played Dark Souls but I have played Twilight Princess and this reminded me so much of that game in atmosphere. I love what you’ve come up with here. I'm amazed to see this, as I've had a similar idea in my head for years! It's impressive how in just this short span of an area and dialogue, you not only evoked the aura of a Soulsborne game unmistakably, but also conveyed a compelling, distinctive tone, unique to your "game," complete with two or three ominous thematic elements. Of the really, fully-made Soulslikes I've played, only Mortal Shell compares on these fronts...and then the theme song is the cherry on top! haha
This game would be everything! I love the dark fantasy sailor moon concept, it's such a unique take and there's really nothing quite like it. It makes me wonder if the identity of the knight would be important or not.

This. Is. Amazing. I love how the concepts were blended into the twisted rendition. I could see this as a story arc, even. If you really think about some themes in the manga, like having star seeds and dreams stolen, it does get rather dark. Then the ending, with Chaos, yeah.

Sailor Moon was my first manga during childhood, and what inspired me to start drawing, and also watching anime. I love this. Going 40 in a few years make me accept the parallel existence of a darker and mature Sailor Moon universe, even horror, because who can deny that the original manga isn't dark, mature and horror? Even the classic Sailor Moon games were marketed for girls, like Barbie. It's just not fair 😂

I’m really glad to hear that my channel helped you during your thesis🙌 To be honest, organizing the Miro board and turning a vague concept into a 3D design is something I’m still learning and have a lot to improve on😅 What helps me the most is iterating both with Miro and Unreal Engine and getting the rough 3d models into the engine as early as possible, so I can catch any issues right away. I’ll try to cover this process in more detail in the Q&A video!

If you could make this into its own stand alone Soulsborne-esque game, this could make bank! You would be a unknown Sailor Guardian unaffiliated to any existing Sailor Guardian. Awakened and given the ability to help reawaken the Moon Kingdom and purging the Twilight that has corrupted it.
I think this is amazing and it would be cool if we were a forgotten guardian or just a new guardian and had to find a way to resurrect all of the senshi. You did an amazing job and I to see more of what you’d do in the future.
