John Travolta & Rob Lowe | Actors on Actors - Full Conversation

- John Travolta may be a thoroughly established actor, but he still has to fight for his roles. He and Rob Lowe chatted about that and more, including staying relevant in Hollywood and Travolta’s preparation for “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story,” for Variety and PBS’ “Actors on Actors.”
bit.ly/VarietyS...
Rob Lowe and John Travolta compliment each other for 30 mins straight.
some pple like to be nice, that's often not appreciated by 'whom' ? O.o kindness is odd for some sadly
@@chrisnam1603 keanu is kind and we love him for that. Beeing kind to everyone and beeing kind to one particular person is a huge difference, dont you think?
@@ahabduennschitz7670 When there is only just the one single person you're chatting with and that person shares the same trade that has brought so much happiness to so many people of course there will be such great admiration for one another.
I know this is old but I don’t care lol.
Notice how when Travolta complements Rob its very smooth and natural. Whereas when Rob complements Travolta, it’s suddenly halting and awkward.
Now they both admire one another, but Travolta views others as above him, he’s looking up to others. Rob is the opposite, he views others as beneath him, he wants to set an example for others to look up to him. Both are great guys, just something to notice.
Travolta has the most soothing voice, I could listen to him talk for hours.
I was struggling trying to comment as I watched on an aspect I felt singled them out and gave up. Then Rob Lowe stated with perfect clarity what would have been a novella by the time I had finished,
"… we are both character actors trapped in leading man's bodies." Brillant insight, well executed. 😏
I cant imagine these two together back in their 20s. The finest duo to ever exist
Hello dear
oh look two of the best greasers Danny Zuko and Sodapop Curtis
yes!
Yes
Rob Lowe and John Travolta are great together! Both funny, talented and smart! I'm a huge fan of both! Rob doesn't age! He's gorgeous!
I love the honesty of this conversation. And some great information. Love the quote from Rob Lowe:" Never compare your insides with someone else's outsides!" That's a take home right there! Thank you, Gentlemen!
You can find out new talents eventually striking talents but John Travolta and Rob Lowe undoubtefully belong to periods we will never reach again and they have proven they were absolutely fascinating and beyond expectations. I will never forget how Rob Lowe was pure, beautifully wounded in St Elmo's Fire and very magnetic in Bad Influence starring James Spader too. Travolta is as much as Tom Cruise and in an other way of course another untouchable legend made by the highly historical Saturday Night Fever, a piece of legend where Travolta was a strange perfection of an era, not even easy to describe with words. Such a hardworking soul too, very precise and deeply involved artist of legend. GOD BLESS THIS VIDEO OF THESE TWO SPECIAL PERFECTIONS.
John Travolta is a brilliant underrated actor . I love Faceoff and the Generals Daughter.
Lol what's with alll U Goofballz,
with the word Underrated.
John Travolta is not Underrated jagoff
They are both such EXCELLENT actors!!! It was so interesting to see how they would finish each other's sentences.
This was so interesting -- just not long enough!!! I LOVED IT...
Thank you!!!
Face Off is amazing!! General's Daughter, wow. Phenomena is a watch see anytime.
West Wing was one of my favorites that I would buy and watch all over again.
Ania Sara you’ve got to watch Brothers & Sisters. Rob is fantastic.
@@ceciliamartin9750 I find myself binge watching Brothers and Sisters on HULU lol
I love these two! So much talent here!
This is a conversation all actors should watch. "We are character actors trapped in leading men bodies." Rob Lowe
That is a wonderful peek behind the curtain.
@Nissim Levy hes absolutely got a leading man's body.
@Nissim Levy and you've missed the point entirely.
@Nissim Levy you're not taking his age or timing into account.
It should ‘ve been 30 mins of Rob Lowe complimenting Travolta cause, c’mon, John Travolta has done it ALL. A LEGEND. It’s like a MLB player talking to a little leaguer bro.
Couldn't disagree more. Rob has done it all as well.
They both tapped very exact true things when John Travolta talked about Roblo as a comedian and when Rob said that there’s nobody like John Travolta that is so true
The movie FACE -OFF is UNDERrated.
Yass when John Turned bad the audience went nuts in the theater. That’s when theater use to be packed opening weekend.
Rob is witty and funny and fun to listen to; loved him for years.
LEGENDS! ❤️🙌🏾
they are both train wrecks personally and professionally
Two cool dudes
Rob Lowe is a far better interviewer and conversationalist than he ever was an actor. Wow what a great episode and I was leary of how good something with these two was going to be. Glad I listened.
Great insight comes from this show. This has become the absolute best way for others to actually understand what actors are going through on a daily basis and what make's them get to there "Character" In place. Elements which can't be taught are being learned here. WTG John & Rob. Best of you both has been demonstrated here. Many thanks.
What about that jawline on Rob and great skin on up in his fifties! DAYUM
amazing talk! Il send this to all directors I will work with in the future, understanding the essence of this puts the magic of acting in a nutshell, especially the part where Rob Lowe tells the story of the writer who wrote the piece especially for him, its great. The part where travolta tells why hes acting is honest, love it!
You can find good things to tell to others like they do when your used to it, and we should do so regularly
This should've been an hour long, and I would've made popcorn and watched it.
Now we need a great movie with this 2.
Realness about each other confidence, remarkable! Blessings!🥂❤️
I was surprised by the subtle restraint and standout performance by Travolta in "Valley of Violence" with Ethan Hawke.
ROB LOWE NEVER AGES!!!! He must either have great 'genes' or be on some sort of magical vitamin, diet, exercise regimen - OR its a combo of both. Either way he looks amazing for his age - like he is till in his 30's. I wonder if JT was just a little bit jealous???? This episode is the real 'FACE OFF", LOL ..... two of Hollywood's sexiest men who made their fortunes not only off their talent - but lets be 100 percent honest - their faces too!!!
I was probably 8 when I saw Travolta in the tv movie "Boy In The Plastic Bubble". His GF in that was the same one that was in a few different movies with Robbie Benson, who to me is the 70s version of what Lowe was in the 80s.
Nicolas Cage, C. Thomas Howell, Molly Ringwald, Jon Cryer, Jean Smart, Annie Potts and Rita Wilson are some more actors that come to mind that have to be apart of this.
LOVE Rob as Soda pop in the Outsiders. About Last Night he plays Dan, what a gemstone. He has done fantastic movies. That role really stands out for me big time.
Get Shorty AND Face/Off were incredible.
4705chelsea I can picture Molly Ringwald with Anthony Michael Hall, and maybe Judd Nelson.
Had the great pleasure of working with both of these fine men.
can you elaborate? 🤩
@@ScottyColoradoKid sure, I met John while we were working on Hairspray, and worked with Rob on his directing debut back in the mid 90’s.
Cool! thanks Jay! (I tried to watch Hairspray I just couldnt make it thru it LOL)@@JayBuff19
This is SO INCREDIBLE TO WATCH!!!! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hello Rose, how are you doing?
I loved Rob in The Outsiders, and then later in Brothers and Sisters. I've watched Grease and Hairspray so many times, loved John in both musicals. This was a lovely interview.
Is it me or am I distracted by how gorgeous Rob Lowe's eyes are?😍😍😍
Thoroughly enjoyed this video.
6:24 "Blow Out" inspired Rob so much, he forgot the name of the movie. But this tells me so much about who John Travolta is! He could've corrected Rob on it, a less secure person probably would have, but he chose to let it go. Real people like John don't worry about such trivial matters. I wish more people were like that.
My two favorite Actors ❤❤
“I donT kNoW who Nick is, just laughed out Loud! What a Pro!:)
Best of the Actor on Actor I've listenened to.
These guys are both unique...
Really nice guys from cool movies - Thank you guys for having fun!
I liked the movie phenomenon! Was AWESOME!
Love them both so much
Check out Rob in Thank you for smoking! John is beyond acting. What a lovely guy. Life can be harsh. Wishing his family best wishes.
Travolta was 100% correct when he called himself a "character actor," even when he's always the lead. From "Saturday Night Fever" on, he invents real characters.
Love love love them both ❤️
I can feel the Love
What a great interview!!!
How awesome. We just don’t learn enough about actors. For some reason, our society does not tell us enough information about actors.
awesome! Thank you for creating, taping and posting this
Both have a great body of work JT more so however I really think that these two are only just getting started and some great performances ahead as they diverse their talent.
John ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the father of all hearthows and so true you can see In Rob some of John. And Rob … he made me know I like boys 😃 at 12.
Why are these two not in a movie together omg
Absolutely loved this interview ❤
i love my idol rob lowe
My favourite rob Lowe movie is avengers and John Travolta Carrie. Sorry 4 yr losses
Two greats
Thanks for have time for me .. remenber with love and joy moments .. i learned that . Your movies are amazing ..
A Civil Action movie with John Travolta...legndary
It looks like Rob Lowe shaves/waxes his arms.
They're beautifully smooth.
"I don't know who I am" interesting. I wonder if all actors feel this way. It must be crazy trying to find your identity while playing many other people while being a public figure that people know. Where people view you in a certain way while you don't know who you are.
It’s also difficult when you’re not a professional actor or public figure.
These guys look like brothers.
I think it is interesting that Rob Lowe says he got his comedic flare from outside his family. I feel like if you are born with a gift it came from somewhere down the bloodline. It may not have came from his parents but o bet if he searched his family tree somewhere down the line there would be an ancestor with that trait. Just the way eye color may skip a generation i believe character traits do as well. Loved that question.
They said "grinder" so many times...I tip my hat to John for maintaining his composure.
Amazing interview.
Duh -- actors do actually do admire one another and they do get star struck - no different than any other human being on earth (for all the negative nellies) on here.
Oh I have to watch this! They need to do a movie together
Oh my gosh girl crushing now
Travolta's hair piece did most of the talking.
You can see in John's eyes how much he appreciates what Rob L says about him. RL seems to never age & it's not Botox. John's wig/hairpiece for once looks natural. He should have stuck with this one!
😮
LETS TALK ABOUT HOW GREAT WE ARE LOL
Travolta cannot pretend his Scientology does not bleed through...makes him seem off to me. Lowe on the other hand seems healthy and sharp...resilient, fresh, forward motion. Playing on West Wing the most difficult gig...Sorkin dialogue was brutal week after week...
I don't see it
Only 2 Words...SEXY LEGENDS!!!
isn't grinder cancelled? why lowe is on so many panels this year?
❤❤❤
Hello dear, I saw your profile and may I say you have such a beautiful and captivating smile
Who’s here for Scientology? Absolutely no one!
That Ryan Murphy story 🤯
Travolta gets flak for no reason. The guy is great.
I see a Scientologist interviewing a non Scientologist. Is that a weird thought. Lovely men. Great conversation. I just feel like one of the men is having a conversation and the other has an agenda.
Nice wig Travolta.
Back when John was still wearing his hairpiece.
Are these guys friends? Seems like an act.
omg John Travolta--luv himmmmmmmmm
just two heterosexual men in a room together, nothing weird about that
complimenting each other. OMG.
Travolta is a homosexual man, he's gay
Would love to ask what was or was supposed to be in the suitcase that shoone in the movie pulp fiction ,john what was it .in the big kahuna burger kitchen scene what did yuall think it is?
John is so odd, but he is a good actor.
So different from Hugh and Colin.
only here for chris traeger.
Actors acting from one actor to another about their acting careers on an acting program...
first he mentioned 'oz and then said 'crescendo..oh boy
Travolta may not be a Great Actor but he's a very likable actor. He got his fair share of mannerisms but you enjoy them.
He is a great actor
@@lucianakueker5001 Good actor, far from a great actor.
???
Now, John Travolta and Rob Lowe in Actors on Actors...I was expecting more lube and some grunting
Two idiots telling bus " Don't you wish you were us? Amazing
just kiss already
lol
Rob Lowe doesnt deserve all this praise no offence
I like them as actors .... but ... all this gushing over each other is a bit cringe worthy .
lol
Just imagine if it was the reverse.
I love John Travolta. However, I disagree with him about what he said about looking like Robert Shapiro. I thought it looked like a caricature and found it very distracting.
...same
Sean Patric
I hate it when they go back and forth telling each other how great they are. At some points during the interview it gets very aggrandizing.
I listened to the whole talk and nothing on Scientology...hmmm. Obviously John talked to the director and said not to talk of this.
