I loved this game as a kid. I dont know how many times i played it. And the music was and still is sooo good. Miss those times!!

This game was actually a lot more engaging than people give it credit for. The limitations of the time meant that the lo-fi graphics produced this really uncanny, surreal vibe. And the sound effects definitely helped it in terms of originality, even if they were bizarre.
This was one of the first games I played on my 386 16 Mhz with 8 MB RAM and 50 MB HDD. Those were the days.

This game was the reason why I woke up early in the morning.
Much of this game has a somewhat otherworldly and chillax atmosphere which I really like.
I watched this in *pain* Not only because I still remember almost every aspect of this game and therefore realizing how old I truly am... but damn it, you didn't even go back to collect the apples you missed when you fell...or that you risked being hurt by the scorpians even after having the key and being able to safely unlock the next part! Lol.
Seriously though, finding this made me so happy that I wasn't the only one who remembered this game. We lived in poverty. Windows 3.1 did not even exist to me outside rich/well off families or government funded school classrooms until 1999 (just a room of computers...NOT every classroom containing one computer like happened 3-5 years later), and even then, it was a luxury until the early millenium, and we still only had the dreaded dial-up.
Thank you for uploading this and keeping alive a memory that brought me a lot of joy (and frustration at times) during my childhood years. I used to worry that I was the only one of my peers that knew of these games (most of my classmates or schoomates didn't know them, and were more into the 3.1 games such as Chip's Challenge or Crystal Caves - a part of Windows) so it's refreshing to see that someone else played them! Games like this, and Duke Nukem, Bubble Bubble, Pharaoh's Tomb and Jetpack were my definition of being a gamer back then...and I'm so glad not all of those games have been forgotten!
You should get a dos emulator and go down memory lane! I'm 34 and I remember playing Jill when I was a toddler. Hearing the music gives me insane nostalgia chills! I remember playing this, treasure mountain, gizmos and gadgets, cosmos cosmic adventure, chip and dales rescue rangers, my god the list goes on!

My Mom was an anatomy professor and she would take me to work to stay in her office as she taught and I had a plethora of big floppys to keep me occupied, this was one of the. YEAHHH!

I will always remember playing this game. But not just remembering about this game, but remembering the fact that I played from my father's computer. It was beautiful moments in my life, when I, as a young boy, went through a magical journey with Jill. The feeling of playing it might be gone, but the memory would always remind me of how far I have come from that. I would always be grateful for my father who has this in his pc so I could immersed myself in that. Well, I'm 30 years old, it must have been some 15 or 20 years already.

Man, I had this game dialed back in the day, I made a point of collecting every secret and everything. I wish games were still simple like this.
I loved this game. And I always will. Along with Supaplex and Commander Keen. I spent countless hours playing it with my older sister. It brings back so many good memories. I even remember the PC I was playing on. I've never had a soundblaster, just a PC speaker so these sounds are kinda new to me. :D
I had this game in my father's old computer very long time ago. This game was my second favorite childhood game when I was 4 or 5 years old. It was fun but, a bit of hard to beat this game. I won sometimes.

Omg I finally found this game I played when I was like 5 years old. My siblings and I only remembered it as "Girl jumping on the rock" and we couldn't find it. Seems like our name for it was a pretty accurate description for the game though HAHAHAHA
I never heard of this game but I logged into my GOG account after having not used it for probably over a decade and saw the whole trilogy for free. Looked like it might scratch a retro itch. Downloaded the games, played through episode one, and wow I loved it! So much fun. Love the playful jabs at other mascots. And for a platformer from this time period, the ending was actually pretty cool. Can't wait to play the other two.
This game surely inspired Pandemonium for PS1: the levels, the soundtrack. Probably that's why I love this.

The more I see this game, the more I think Jill is not really in the jungle, she's in some LO-FI inspired indie game simulator far in the future. These "News-bulletin" pop-ups are only making me believes this even more. Anyway, this really brings me back to the past. I loved playing this on my old PC back in 90s :)

It's metroid o . o Super cool. If I was a PC gamer back then I would have loved this. But sadly I was too poor for a PC when I was a child. Super Nintendo was my life back then.
Edit: After watching more of the gameplay it actually reminds me more of the 3D platformers from the 3D renaissance era ( Mario 64 DK64 ect. ect. ) It's clear that the lack of memory limitations on PC gaming (Atleast comparable to Consoles of the time) gave them alot of freedom to do alot that console games of the time couldn't. All this game is missing is the 3D graphics to make it almost exactly like a 3D renaissance game.

I remember playing this when I was eight, back when I had summer camp (nothing special - just a dodgy old PC that had a funky graphics problem - therefore most times this game appeared in a various other hues)
I miss the turbo buttons and MHz displays on PC cases.
Trying to remember a game, it was much like this but a blonde man and in more of a jungle-like setting (most was outside with water, trees, mountains vs the inside gameplay here). It had to be around this same era, I remember playing it and Loopz on our family PC a lot as a kid. Since I don’t have a name, I’ve had no luck in finding it, Jill always comes up and although similar, it’s not what I’m recalling. Anybody have any ideas?

This game along with everything apogee at the time with some Sierra thrown in for good measure was great. Then I saw Warcraft 2.
32:46 This was such an amazing ending in the day. Most shareware games, hell, most full DOS games, just gave you a flash and credits or something. This gave you a movie of sorts with an unexpected end. Alas the next 2 episodes had nothing like it.
Didn't know english when i was young and played it, the game breaks the 4th wall many times in a funny way.
But what exactly was the situation of this game when it launched? They speak of mario going depressed because he can't beat jill and pac man and many famous games,was the developers just arrogant? Just making jokes or they beat those games in sales?
Oh god this screams 90s. Not sure if I mean that in a good way or not, but I DID have a lot of fun with this game itself. Didn't have a sound blaster card for the sound FX though. I think that enhanced the game for me in truth. (The sound FX are just annoying frankly. Music's good though.)
is there anyway to play this on a newer computer without adlib support but still get the music on the game? I have a 2004 Dell Inspiron 8600 and the game runs on it but no sound but it works with the PC speaker option but I cannot get it to play the music. is there anyway to get adlib on a newer computer?

Because you, same as me, never played with sound hahaha. I haven't had a PC with the sound card, or if I have, I never used speakers (or haven't had ones). so I mostly don't even remember the music, just the gameplay :)

The sound effects in this game are just god-awful! They are all really loud and jarring, and don't really fit. Like when she picks up a key, you get that weird voice going "yeaa-aaah!" and stuff like the thump you mentioned. I can remember them all clear as day when I hear them again, but they are so bad!
@@SeattleScotty the bargain basement sample cd special. It's hard to believe but the sounds in part 2/3 were even worse. Green things in the ceiling that say 'action' every time they spit fire. The bargain-basement sample cd special. It's probably possible to track down the exact sound library he was using - he can't have had more than one.
That thud reminds me of those drum machines from the 80s. Some of the other fx reminds me of samples from the E-mu Systems Emulator and SP-12 soundbanks.

Ha I had a 286 IBM windows 3.1 also Jill of the jungle would play couldn't do music always asking for a sound blaster card or my dumb young mind didn't select the right one. Bio menace sound only no music word rescue same. Such simple and good times it's ironic though untill finding this video I was complaining how alot of lynx games lacked sound track it bothers me. However when I was a kid i played all these no sound track guess just spoiled by modern tech now.
