I’m 37 and was diagnosed ADHD since I was born. My ADHD treatment are: sports, DJing, learning foreign languages, cooking and following Keto diet with intermittent faring. Tbh I never felt better in my life since I found the way to utilize my symptoms in smart way.

Oh my goodness! My life exactly! I’m almost 64, have just been diagnosed a few weeks ago but a lot of these things I have naturally brought into my life in the past. But so many great ideas Caren. So grateful to have found your channel. It’s so good to know that there are others that are as “different” as me 😉

This was really great! I do think that the majority of my distractibility comes from not knowing the next step or what to do. I was hoping for more tips on solving that type of procrastination. Do you have any other videos addressing this? Thanks so much!

I always enjoy your watching your videos. The humor in this is that UA-cam and the internet is one of my biggest distractions. I find I sometimes find myself going down "rabbit holes" and as a result loose total track of time. Concerning emotional distractions, I find journaling a big help. To get what is on my mind on paper really helps.

Wow! This is one of the BEST and practical videos I've ever watched! In general, but particularly about ADHD. (And believe me, I've watched MANY videos! 😂😉) I will be watching this again to take notes and create an action plan. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

That was fantastic and exactly what I needed to hear Right Now! Just got out of my appt. with my therapist and was feeling so frustrated. It just makes so much sense hearing advice from someone who actually gets it! Someone who gets how frustrating it is to hear all the same advice over and over from people who just can't understand why you JUST CAN'T DO THE THING that seems so easy and logical to them. ARG! I really appreciated the aroma therapy advice too. I'm going to try that. Thank you again.

    You used these terms
    Pattern interrupt
    Self inquiry
    Friction
These remind me of the books
    Atomic habits
    Tony Robbins
    Byron Katie.

I should do something about the impulse of trying new ideas, cause I never finish anything, and I waste money on supplies for those ideas that I'll never get done.

Caren, I just discovered you today. I’m 54 years old, and have have found out this week that my constant struggling is ADHD. My biggest question right now is whether or not to be medicated. Could you share which meds you take? Do you have a video on medication? Thank you for all you share. Lisa

Your videos are so helpful for understanding behaviour and how to improve overall wellbeing. You articulated quite a few insights that I hadn't previously been able to make connections with.

how did you get an exercise routine. It's one of the hardest things for me to "just do" I have the goal of walking 30min/day. I don't even do that. so many say it's the best medicine for mental health, but I've never gotten that result. thanks.

I know it is cliche but it works - find something active that you enjoy and, if possible, pair it with something you are already doing or with someone you have fun with.

I have also heard that some people stick to a workout routine better if they have something to train for such as a 5K walk fundraiser. It can make the exercise meaningful. I once met someone that scheduled one event per quarter so they always had something to train for. It kept them motivated.

Find a walking buddy or a workout class like yoga or Pilates. Exercising with people is much easier to create a healthy habit.

Yes! Yes! Yes!! Lol Harvard study says that's reason we dont remember things sometimes bcs u hear something n mind is faster than ears and u wander off without completely listening/gathering more information!! Is is symptom of mental illness but in my opinion alot of mental illness is BAD HABIT and mislearning...

Social media is my big distraction and impulsive thing. I've used lots of tools to manage it, but the most effective one so far is Freedom. I paid for the Premium lifetime because it was so valuable to be able to 1) schedule when I can access distractions; 2) LOCK DOWN the settings so I can't go in and change them easily (like I can with a lot of built-in options for screen time); and 3) stay flexible and mindful of what my distractions even are.

  • @2HungryHand
    @2HungryHand 4 місяці тому +1

If I interrupt in social situations, I express that I'm aware that I'm interrupting (with the intention to keep it short) and make it my responsibility to remember what we were talking about right before that, so that we can continue right where we left off.
I don't know when this habit formed but I noticed it the last years when I started my ADHD research journey [currently waiting for my diagnostic appointment].
... to be fair the warning / excuse for my interruption is probably a new thing 😅

I get distracted with all the guidance and advice on instagram, and then I forgot about the structure that I had put in place for the day. What can I do to help improve this?
I get so distracted when it comes to studying, I have noises around me as I’m in the house, my mind wanders, and I end up writing a list of things I need to do, how can I avoid getting distracted? Thank you x

Great video I was listening to your videos they are spot on ,I'm 43 yrs old an would love to talk ,I've been in an out of work I'm a fishermen an I'm very impulsive the doc diagnosed me with bio polour which I think is wrong, because I live on a small island there's a year waiting list because there's 1 doctor, I spoke to my GP an he can't do anything, I know there's always been there with racing thoughts going bk to talking about work my skipper could never understand why I would get a bad idea about going, basically everything you have said is exactly is wrong the way I feel, I tried doing other jobs an an they just don't interest me ,anyway thanks to much to say in a message, it's so frustrating ,another thing is I can't say know when I should really think about it ,I never know how I'm gonna feel from day to day ,I've let alot of people down moving from boat to boat because of the way I think, it's not that I'm lazy it's a very hard job an it's my release from every thing this probably doesn't make much sense in a message, I do isolate for days sometimes because I feel like crap because I've left another boat due to the way I think,

That's funny about the music, I tried some adhd music for focusing and it distorted my so much just because I didn't like it, so I realised that the best music for work for me is my favourite Ukrainian punk rock band 😂 sometimes it can be soad or Korn lol doesn't make a lot of sense but it keeps me active

Do people with ADHD usually struggle with driving? I’m learning to drive atm and my driving is getting worse instead of better… i seem to do well in the newest topics but forget the basic stuff. Any tips to help with that?
