    We bought a mattress that was too firm. Put me into the worst month of sleep issues. Actually afraid when the sun set. Thanks for the tips. Mattress company let us trade in and softer side sleep surface. Breathing exercises and non-sleep resting has really helped. Sometimes I end up doing it in an easy chair, sitting up, for up to 1.5 hours. Helps to not drink more than 5 oz after 5 pm.

      Its been 3 years I cant sleep at all night, because of stress sadness and anxiety, I take medications and I cant sleep, at day I sleep 2 3 hours only, I feel like Im start being retarted, its so sad man

    I can lay in my bed for 5 hours and not fall asleep what can I do. Roommates sleeps in living room I can’t go nowhere.

    I've been lying here for 7 hours, it's 5:30 in the morning and I have to be up in an hour-and-a-half. It's hell.

    I tried box breathing, but found that it actually made me feel more awake as the focus of the count I think stimulated my brain which made me feel more alert. Have you heard of this happening? I have also tried reading, but find that I can read for almost two hours and still not fall asleep in those situations. I have also tried listening to music, but then I start to get tired of the music as I just want to sleep. My eyes feel tired, but I just can't fall asleep and then I start to get quite frustrated and upset about it. These occurrences don't happen often, but when they do, I would like to have a solution to help.

    Breathing exercises, calm music, nature sounds, white noise all make me more anxious. My mind seems to need some kind of distraction in order to relax in an indirect way. Any suggestions?

      What about setting the aTV timer and watching TV and falling asleep?

      I didnt deal well because I had a high stress career. I took various sleep meds and used alcohol too much. Since I have retired the stress is gone and I'm learning how to sleep better now. Reduced the sleep meds to half and no longer use alcohol. When I was young and working I don't know what would have helped. It was just hard all the time.

    Bro i have school tomorrow and i have to wake up at 5am i went to bed at 9pm and i haven't falled asleep. Its 2:56am 😭

    I can't sleep at night till 3-4 o'clock. Then i wake up very late at that day and all my schedule is f up. And i see that when the clock hits between 5-7pm i am getting very sleepy but i don't wanna sleep that time because i wake up at 12 or so in the midn8ght and after while night is walking around and scrollimg on my phone. The whole situation is very bad!

      Sounds frustrating! It sounds like your sleep schedule might be out of sync with your body's natural rhythm. You could try gradually shifting your bedtime earlier by 15-30 minutes each night and avoid screens an hour before bed. Bright light exposure in the morning can also help reset your internal clock.

    No sleep doctors ever mention orgasm/masturbation as a possible technique to fall back to sleep? I have found it helpful as a sleep aid, either when getting to bed or trying to get back to sleep.

      Ive been doing for years.. i think maybe 15 years or more.. the problem is that i almost cannot sleep without it anymore.
      Only use this tool wiseless when needed, dont make it an habbit like i did

    A mildly unpleasant-sounding hack I’ve started incorporating is to urinate in a jug next to the bed instead of walking to the bathroom. It’s drastically improved my ability to fall back asleep. I just recommend emptying promptly in the morning and do both yourself and partner a favor 😊
