Domingo slenderized not tubby here and vocally sounding way fresher. Troyanos in her usual burnished, tremulous humanistic, wide, large, high mezzo round sound is amazing. All the glowing and pulsing through these numbers is very cinematic in a romantic wave. Glorious. She was taken way too soon. That said she did all her repertoire and much of it is very well documented. This concert is a huge operatic gem to treasure. 💎
I appreciate your efforts in uploading and meticulously editing the material. It's genuinely saddening that Tatiana Troyanos is no longer with us. Your dedication to delivering a high-quality product stands out, especially in contrast to others who carelessly repost and monetize such content without respect. Thank you for your hard work and integrity.
Thank you! Though I should point out most of what I post gets a copyright claim (That's mostly just "The owner allows this to be posted on youtube" but still not monetized), I'm just doing this for fun + archival purposes
His “Pourquoi me réveiller” is so beautiful and tragic . Probably one the most sad arias in Opera. The lyrics is very deep and the goat knows what he’s singing. Que c’est beau …
You have just made my missus a very happy girl. We knew that our copy of the MET-issued DVD of this concert was incomplete but could only hope that one day someone who had VHS recorded the telecast at home would have the rest of it, if not in good video quality, at least good audio quality. Her birthday was a few weeks ago, so she is gonna squeak with delight. Absolutely glorious. Of course, the same year matching concert with Horn and Price, squeezed onto the same then-very-space-limited DVD disc, was also trimmed to just one hour, and thus the world was robbed of the true performances. Great uploads here. Mil gracias amigo. Paz y salud.
It's fascinating watching James Levine's' conducting style. I'll wager he knew the libretti to several dozens of operas stone cold, just like Beverley Sills by her own admission.
Yes!! I remember watching this when it aired--I had just gotten into opera thanks largely to PBS telecasts, so I knew Domingo and Troyanos...but when Isola Jones walked on here, I was like, who is that??? Beautiful singer, and what a dramatic voice!
Does anyone know why the Met only released excerpts from this concert, the Domingo/Milnes concert, and the Price/Horne concert on DVD? All three would easily fit on two DVDs. So frustrating not to have the entire concerts available!
More troyanos please what a sensual and bright voice she had

Very quite a loss
Thank you so much for this great concert! 🙏
Also, the sound improvements are very appreciated. Not easy to do, so, mil gracias!

Gosh opera can be so dramatic!!!
Thank you for this wonderful video!

Domingo's nose deserves a lot of credit for his vocal production.
In the Trovatore aria PD performs a faultless trill not once but twice. Bravissimo
Dos inmensos cantantes

Wonderful video ❤❤❤❤
La vieja escuela es la mejor. Plácido Domingo todo un león rugiendo y la Troyanos magistral, este concierto es una auténtica 💎 joya.
Isola Jones is wonderful.
Absofreakinglutely!!!!
Always been a favorite of mine in this role, and in Rigoletto - with the costume that shocked my voice teacher.....
😎😎😎

That dress was meant for walking sideways, and Troyanos got to do that a lot.

❤️🇱🇨!!!
Domingo is simply electrifying in Don Jose, very intense yet still classy. (And his French is good. Better than his German).
Non ricordavo che la Troyanos avesse questo continuo vibrato stretto. Debbo dire che in alcuni momenti è fastidioso anche se la vice è bella, peccato.
