Same special, but now with subtitles. If you enjoyed this, remember that this is self-released. If you want to kick in a few bucks, it'd be appreciated! Venmo: @SteveHofstetter Patreon.com/SteveHofstetter Thanks!
I want to join all the people in the comments thanking you for the captions, Mr. Hofstetter! It's really considerate towards us fans with hearing disabilities. Thank you from a Brazilian fan!
I wish I could upvote this ten times. Calling it a comedy special doesn't make it justice. It is not easy to express how meaningful this was to hear. Almost everyone faces loss and grief at some point in their life, but not everyone can express it as well as this. I was just at a funeral last week, for a good friend of my father, and in just a week is my grandmothers birthday, who died not so long ago that it still hurts, so this was very timely for me personally. Thank you, Steve.
I have to recommend seeing Steve Live, I feel like the laughs were much louder when I saw this show. He is such a good live act and his openers always have you bent over laughing before he comes onstage. Very different than other acts I’ve watched in the same price range (and he has some star power)
I saw this set back in DC and it was not terribly long after I lost my mother. Just a couple days after the anniversary of her passing, I decided to listen to this again and once again I have to thank you for this and how much it has helped getting me through the grieving process. (Those two sticks of butter I had earlier just didn't do the trick)
Steve, thank you for the laughs. I'm going through something so tough it's hard to see the other side most days, and that two whole sticks of butter comment is starting to sound real good. I've seen you in San Diego a couple of times (I'm the Death In Fire guy) and even though I've heard most of this set before it still helped me today. Now I'm sitting here crying again, but this time it's with a sprinkle of hope that I didn't have the last time. If I make it through this it'll be in part because you helped, and I hope to thank you in person the next time I'm able to.
Lost my dad in the fall, couldn't make it through the bit about your dad's passing (even though I've heard it many times before). Just gonna sit here lonely and cry for a bit, love your comedy good sir, please keep being awesome (like our fathers were)
Love you man, what a great life lesson show. Have been following you for a long time and can't wait to see a live show. I'm from Brazil and next time I put my feet in the USA I'll try my best to make that happen. Thank you for being awesome!!
Thank you so much for reposting this with subtitles, amd thank you for that moving story. We all have to deal with grief on our life, and your recipe is something I will keep in mind. It is good wisdom.
As an adopted human, I'm now going to be using the term "biological tunnel." Your humor, and viewpoints have made me smile and laugh about a subject that can be an uncomfortable reality to address with others. Thank you for sharing, and thank you for making me feel more comfortable about my existence. I hope to see you in Denver soon!
Loved it the first time, and when I saw it reuploaded with subtitles, did I *IMMEDIATELY* decide to watch it again, like, and comment to feed the UA-cam algorithm? Yes. Yes I did. It's gonna be a good next hour.
Steve, you are the recipe of a great standup comedian. You can think on your feet, great timing, a student of human nature and you know how to flip the script on hecklers. The most important ingredient is you are funny as hell, but you also make me think.
I love the insight into you as a person, that you are prepared to expose your vulnerabilities. Like the start when you seemed to be psyching yourself up and then walked onstage like you owned the crowd. How many times do ordinary people have the same scary feeling before a big presentation or sales pitch or training session? You totally succeeded, not only with your live audience but your virtual audience, like me. I hope you had the same sense of euphoria as I did after the minor accomplishments in my life, but amplified. I don't always agree with your opinions, but I totally admire your courage and honesty and vulnerability. You are a true performer, and I think you should be a star. Thank you for so many hours of laughter, and also quite a few hours of thinking hard, and examining my views. Also, seriously thank you for the subtitles. I do struggle to hear people when there is background noise. I think you will be a star one day.
I listened to 2 of these videos. I watched the first one because I was doing dishes and the channel changed but my hands were wet so I let it go. Fate is funny. I am a clinically lifetime depressed person with PTSD who usually doesn't listen to comedy. I don't like when people try to make me laugh. You made me laugh. You brightened my evening for awhile. Your mom did a good job as a mom, you are a nice person. Thank you!
No need or interest for captions, but I watched again because it was so good the first time. Keep up the fantastic work and consideration for others and you'll go farther and farther, Steve!
Oh Steve, I love you so much right now, I feel called out too. Yes, nerdy hippies have to puff, puff+use inhaler, and then pass. Btw this nerdy hippie knows albuterol helps THC enter the blood stream faster and reduces inflammation from coughing, chemistry is great! But what's not great is your parents assuming you're having more breathing problems than usual and you're constantly getting checked up by your pediatrician for every refill because you used an inhaler in a week for a month straight instead of 1 every 2-3 weeks.
This is such an amazing special. Makes me even sadder my so-called friend made me sick less than a week before your show in Stockholm, Sweden in September of last year and I couldn't even give the ticket away to someone who wanted to go. Please come back soon.
Sorry again from Austria, no weak joke attempts this time. Thank you very powerful, I'm losing my father by days due to Parkinson's, I'm stuck on sad when alone, but your vulnerability went a long way. Peace
I love watching your specials and this one was a special special. Just so you know, you have a fan in Georgia🇬🇪(country, not the state🙂), and also fans in Russia.
I'm 41 and a half-ish minutes in but I have a different perspective on Sharon's biological mother. For some people, their father and their dad are the same person, as are their mother and their mom, but not for everyone. The way I've always thought about it is that any guy can be a father but a guy who steps up and puts in the work to raise the kid is a dad. And in my mind, the same goes for women. Any woman could get pregnant and give birth, making her a mother, but if she gives up the child and signs away parental rights, she's not that kid's mom. For example, a school friend of my sister was raised by her biological aunt and uncle. She knew full well that they were her aunt and uncle but she addressed them as Mom and Dad and called them her parents when she talked about them. Her aunt and uncle were the people who fed, clothed, and housed her as a kid, taking her to school and kissing the skinned knees when she fell off her bike. Her mother was out of the picture and her father was unable to take care of a child but they would talk on the phone sometimes. She chose to start calling her parents Mom and Dad because they stepped up to take care of her when her father couldn't. Her father was even at her wedding but her dad was the one who walked her down the aisle. So I would say Sharon's _mom_ is your mom, the woman who _raised_ you both, and her _mother_ is the woman who _gave birth_ to her. Again, that's how _I've_ always thought about it.
Did you upload captions to the prior one? It seems like that could work better for analytics/etc. It would also allow people to switch halfway through too.
Been watching your stuff ever since Animated James made that animated clip about ordering a pizza is more effort than having a kid. That was a few years ago and I have hardly missed a video or shorts you uploaded ever since.
I don't know why but this felt very intimate, honest & hilarious. Schöne Grüsse from Austria. Again, weird that this Korean Laptop that I bought in Austria has no "scharffes S". Peace Y'all
If you ever make it to my town I'll buy two tickets to your show. Same deal I make with bands I like. I support live acts monetarily, so come get your monies!
Steve, I was relinquished for adoption coz i was the mistake after 6 priors, I got the better end of any "deal". I was one of twins seperated at birth...i found my bio tunnel (thanks for that as well, i love it) she kept the healthy one, he died at 11 but I'm still here fucked up as i am, thankyou thankyou thankyou
Just what I needed to hear today, Boomer hall monitor. Last night, hurricane Lee was passing by us here on the Cape. I'm a Yankee with Great generation grandparents, I know what the fuck to do. My new neighbor comes over 4pm asks me if I'm moving my flower pots. 25lb Cooper pots full of dirt/flowers. Well, no, they've been through many hurricanes, they do not move. So I go back to working as we're sure to lose electricity. 9pm knock on the door with her demanding I move my pots. Wind was 22mph, I took a screen shot. My new neighbor then calls me an asshole. Back in February when we had -15degrees, 90 mph wind and the house felt like it would shatter, she didn't ask me to move them. The level of entitlement because I wouldn't do what she wanted me to when she wanted me to was gobsmacking. This woman is exactly why the word Boomer is an insult. So thanks, Steve. Hearing this from you as a stranger helped me more than talking to my ladies. Gallows humor is what I needed after being transporting to an episode of Jerry Springer in my own home without a remote control to shut her the f up. Congratulations on opening for Dick Gregory. Wow.
Holy shit I have just had my respec t for Steve quadrupled. I am adopted and his thought on the biological mother are pretty damned in line with mine. Keep up the funny fuckin jokes and destruction of ignorant hecklers.
I was mistakes but my mother told me I was....and she wish she never had me. I'm a gallow humour lover. I don't have change her diapers when she's old. Phew!
Same special, but now with subtitles.

Any chance you have a paypal Steve? Or is a Super thanks better?
LOL I found out I was a mistake when my mom told me she found out she was pregnant by a x-ray....
I got to see this is Wichita Kansas right when you was testing this special
I finally got to see you live..Never been more disappointed.
Youre much better with crowd work and insults than actual comedy..
I want to join all the people in the comments thanking you for the captions, Mr. Hofstetter! It's really considerate towards us fans with hearing disabilities. Thank you from a Brazilian fan!
Ditto
One of the most brilliant pieces of comedy literature. Or any manor of literature.....ever!!!

Fantastic special, Steve you get better and better and more funny every special. Thanks, made my day.

Thank you man for giving this 4 free and for the subs for us. 😊
You will never know how much this special meant to me. I lost my mother in 2020, and this feels like my heart! Thank you!!
Thank you so much for this!
Thanks Steve!!
Can’t tell you how much this hurt and helped. Thank you for making me laugh.
Thank You!
Great show/story. I really enjoyed it. Brought a tear to my eye

Very clever repartee. Totally enjoyed. Thank you 👏🏼🇦🇺

An excellent show about family and grieving.
Very funny , very emotional thank you , from the UK....Chris
This was fun to watch live. I watched the version of this show on Iowa and still quote a joke he did there. Kevin Iowa lives on!
Always amazing, one of my favorite comedians, hands down
I love the insight into you as a person, that you are prepared to expose your vulnerabilities.

I love your comedy steve and this is above and beyond amazing. Hilarious and poignant. Loved every second. ❤
Beautiful. Well done.
No need or interest for captions, but I watched again because it was so good the first time. Keep up the fantastic work and consideration for others and you'll go farther and farther, Steve!
How is it that more people dont know about him?He is very funny !
Danke!
Wow, that's more than comedy
That was so good Steve. Love from Melbourne Australia 💞
You know something is good when you go and watch it a second time just because its available.
"I like some of you better than othets." = "Oh! Some of you have been through ACTUAL loss."
❤❤❤
So brilliant 🤩
❤❤❤
The couple that looked at each other after the "leave them at the firehouse" joke have a GREAT sense of gallows humor. 😊
Fuck, I think this might have been the first time I actually cried from a comedy show and not had it been from laughter.
wow! one of the best comedy sketch i've seen...and so inspiring!
Brilliant moving work ❤️
Happy Birthday Steve!
Man. You've really hit your stride with this one..👌
This was a perfect set. Well timed and great punchlines. Stay classy steve
I posted that 20 mins in. It was truly a wonderful piece of art, very insightful and made me happy/sad cry at the end

A MIRACLE!!!❤
BTW, my brother, Carlos, was adopted when he was two months old, and he is 15 months older than me.🥰
Knocked it out of the park!

Shy grew on me, I had to watch in three sittings. And I’m over here balling by the end after the worst sequence of days and exhaustion

you have little to no experience with comedy. When you grow up a bit, you wont find this guy funny anymore
