I think you'll make an excellent Japanese language instructor!
I felt the exact same way as that kid in the video. I never thought mens Kimonos 👘 would have so much colors. I’d like to buy a kimono 👘 but the problem is I wouldn’t know how to put it on. How can I learn to put it on?
The designs on the fabrics are absolutely beautiful from an artistic standpoint
Thank you for showing men's kimono and that the key to men's kimono is in the subtlety. Men's kimono isn't as flashy and bright as women's kimono, but brings more subtle combinations of colors together. Definitely agree with you on the lack of attention on men's kimono, so thank you and Kazu for showing the subtle beauty of men's kimono. Please continue to show that so men don't have to feel like an afterthought when it comes to kimono.
This is as important as choosing the right suit, and the prices are comparable to a bespoke suit, as well. Interesting to see how subtle changes have a dramatic effect.
It was so nice to see the manager show you the combinations that worked well together. I feel i have difficulty finding things that work well together for the seasons, because all i see are colors and patterns, not necessarily do i know what patterns should go together.
Some of those fabric patterns were really impressive! I'm grateful for the prevalence of hemp and cotton used as well, insomuch as I am vegan, so I avoid silk and wool and leather for example.
The lady definitely knows how to combine colours. Way to go!
I think a man dressed in a kimono is the most handsome of all. There's no challenge. 😊
Finally that I saw that there is a Shop only for Mens Fashion! So Cool!
Honestly, I was expecting a bespoke kimono, obi, haori to cost much more, especially considering those lovely fabrics. The material and weaving are so beautiful. Thank you so much for showcasing this shop.
The shop lady is very well aware and very informative in her products
Kimonos and yukata are just so beautiful!
It would be interesting to see a series on fall in winter kimonos also
I’m so glad you say so! There are a few other kimono shops for men in Kyoto, so I will consider visiting them too!
This is so cool! Definitely a shop I’d love to bring my husband to when we can visit Japan again.
I just bought my brother a yukata for his 21st birthday. It was his first kimono and he wears it all the time. I'm so happy he loved it so much and I really want to expand his collection when I can afford it. This video was so awesome and gave me wonderful ideas on how to pair certain patterns to really create a stylish and attractive look.
This was a very interesting video shogo. I never knew how intricate the mens kimono was. Thanks for sharing with us!.
Such beautiful material! Love your choices, too.
Please show us when the kimonos are ready. Very nice video!
It’s so refreshing seeing men’s kimono like this. Loved this video 💕
I think that it's nice that the Japanese encourage and like foreigners to try wearing traditional Japanese dress. They do not accuse one of "cultural appropriation" For me, I see it as cultural appreciation.
Another excellent video, filled with culture and style. So cool. Thank you.
Thank you Shogo! That was so interesting. I really loved the obi selection. They had so many beautiful choices.
Harumi also said that the obi selection is great too! Thank you so much for watching this video✨
What a interesting Video! great watch :D well done Shogo.
Finally! A place for men’s kimonos!🤩
Thank you so much Shogo!😊
Can’t wait to be there in may😊
Yeeeeesssss. I guess I know where I’m going next time I’m in Kyoto. Mens kimono can be so scarce.
Thank you Shogo, this Post is Very helpful to me.
I would like to see a video on kanzashi and casual hair pins.
Hi Shogo. Love to learn new things about something as different as Japanese culture (compared to European) from watching your videos.
So here's a question:
I understand that Yukata is more of a cassual clothing?
When or where do you wear a Kimono?
Is it like a common formal clothing, or like a "tier" above standart suits?
Would a person wear it to work (like a manager), or is it like for events like wedding, birthday, theatre.... etc.?
NEVERMIND.
Found the answer to my question in your videos from 2021 :D
@@dave32045 whata the title of that video
@@outboundflight4455 “kimono vs. yukata” video
I love this channel ❤
These are beautiful and I think of it like a bespoke handmade western suit. The skill of craftsmanship as well as the high quality materials justify the price completely!
< 3 the managers kitsuke was so harmonious with the outlook of the store, I was quite impressed with how thoughtfull she was in her choice!
The last two obis are just beautiful! I would have gotten both.
All the fabric looked so delicate and beautiful... 😌
I really like this fashion style!
That's so cool!!! I love men's kimono cos they always look so cool, but it is so sad that the selection is always so limited! This is such a great store!
Kimono is such a beautiful traditional clothing
Every fabric she showed is so beautiful.
I'm really grateful that such amazing stores still exist, but I'm also grateful for the second hand store off the beaten path in Tokyo that helped me find a beautiful combination for just 31000 yen and I could have spent as little as 20000. Everyone can enjoy Kimono.
Thank you for sharing this with the world. I see this being directly akin to buying a bespoke suit in my city. No, it is not inexpensive, but this is an art form of its own. You are getting beautiful fabrics as well as the workmanship of the tailor along with the wisdom and expertise of the craftsman.
Very cool.
I love kimono
My grandmother in Japan owns a bunch of kimono
Shogo, I love your videos. My question is this: Is there a difference between a kimono that you might wear on a holiday, maybe to a park or a festival and a kimono that you would wear to a special event, such as a wedding? For example, in India, red is a color for weddings and the goal is for the bride and groom to look like a royal couple. Their clothing is very different from the garments a guest would wear. Is that similar to Japan?
Yes they would all be different! There are actually about 13 different ranks within kimono, and they all have different occasions of wearing them✨ Please check out my “kimono vs. yukata” video for more information!
ua-cam.com/video/reBUP-RUut0/v-deo.html
Just as an example of shogos answer: my gf loves kimono and got a lot from her grandma. There’s one she has never worn because it’s a suuuper fancy one only for like weddings and such. But she can only wear it until she gets married. So she may never wear it because corona has canceled many events.
I really love Japanese culture and for a long while I've wanted to get a kimono for myself, but I've never really talked about it due to the fear of people labeling it as cultural appropriation which it isn't, I love learning more about men's kimonos so thank you Shogo
so many amazing beautiful fabrics! From the strong, double sided and richly patterned obi to the near transparent textured summer weight fabrics - as a textile design fan I would love to know more about the weaving skills and traditions in Japan!
I really like your choices All are very classy.
I definitely want to get one 😤 even though the price is a bit expensive, but it's custom made so I think it's worth it
how much do they go for
@@Sickness805 the video gives quotes, but shogo's kimono was ~250,200 JPY, which is like ~2500 USD
More men kimono videos、please。The shoe manager has impecable taste. This was so enjoyable. Thanks.
Fantastic fabrics.
I lovedddd the owners Katabasami musubi wit that Hanhaba Obi!! It really shows that Hanaba are perfectly fine for all Kimono besides formal kimono 😃
I was originally under the impression Kimonos were for men and Yukata for women
Thank you, very informative. nice.
Very educational and beautiful
Very interesting video. I've been wondering for a while, is there an easy way to tell what season kimono are for or is it something only experts can tell. I would like to know so if I get one, I don't wear it out of season.
I’m no expert but I do wear kimono for Omotesenke tea lessons. I love kimono and research it a lot to make sure I wear it correctly. A quick look at the fabric will tell you what season it’s meant for. Awase kimono are lined and are used for most of the year, from October to June. Hitoe are unlined and are worn July to September. And there’s summer kimono worn, known as Natsumono or Usumono, besides being unlined, the fabric is usually transparent due to its breathable weave. The same differences apply to obi and to the undergarments. I hope this helped 😊
It just simply depends on the thickness of the fabric! Once you get used to it it’s nothing difficult✨
@@LetsaskShogo is the pattern on it also an indicator of season or just the fabric type/thickness?
For men its mostly just plain grey/blue/brown etc, but on women’s ones with vibrant patterns, do certain patterns indicate season (ie. does a cherry blossom pattern indicate spring)?
I really LOVE the red dragonfly kimono! I love making the beaded haori acessories!
I Love it.😁👍 Thank you
Nice looking designs, I like the dark color one.
omg the yukatas looked amazing. kimonos are very elegant, I like the more vibrant design of yukatas.
personally, I prefer suits because they are more practical (pockets and not super baggy). But Japanese formal wear has this dramatic, calming air to it. While suits feels very stuffy or fashiony.
I also really love Kurtas like the clothes found in India, but I think the rectangular cut of kurtas is not very flattering and the silhouette not as interesting. No defined waistline but the high collar and sleeves are cool
Thank you! This is awesome! ☺
Absolutely beautiful ❤️! Finally, a kimono shop with variety for men. By the way, do they sell hakamas, too?
those look amazing af
Thanks, shogo :). I hope you are feeling well.
Did you ever play a Famicom game system?
major want to go shopping in that shop
Japan is so beautiful... so rich in culture...
The epitome of sophistication!
Very nice
You guys rock,
Great video as always!
Expensive but I can understand why it costs so much. It's beautiful and the craftsmanship is worth the money.
I really want to have this quality kimono of my own someday in the future …! For now I will stick to the cheaper ones😅
Excellent!, tho expensive… I’d like to buy a couple
I really wish as a caucasian women that I could make a men’s kimono. I would love to wear the subtle colours at home. I just love Japanese culture
This makes me want a kimono even more.
im very lucky being shown beautiful culture 🙂😊
drip is off charts
Shogo: "Kimono are rather expensive." "My Kimono is 250,200 yen."
Me: "1,756 USD!? That's more than the worth of my car!" 🤣
🤣
Wow, your car must be in bad shape... but, yeah, that is high.
I was afraid of that. 😱💸
Thanks.
Thank you so much for the insight. I've been wondering about wearing more traditional Japanese clothing as I'm in love with Kendogi lately, and I'm fascinated with this kind of clothing. May I ask where can I find a little more affordable Japanese clothing?
first time seeing a transparent haori :0 It was eye opening
I think OP definitely should check out Japanese indigo dyers sometime.
THANKS
I recently subscribed to you as I love your content. I really want to ask you 2 questions. I am going to Japan next year and I really want to buy a kimono that best symbolizes the class of the samurai back then. What shops and places would you recommend, and price ranges? It is a bit of a bucketlist thing for me since I was a child
Some interesting patterns they got going here with accessories. Got an off topic question, I'm looking for Japanese Sandals for both cosplaying and everyday use, any recommendations?
Hi shogo, can you show us or make a video how to wash the kimono?
Nice
So much beautiful and amazing video thank you so much but the music is very loud and high. And it was hard to listen to your amazing speech. I hope there is no music it will be better. Thanks for your again
Grazie 🙏
I just love Japanese fabrics.
I'll have to start saving. The selection of kimono here for a tall, fat guy is limited here.
Show us that winter Kimto
I plan on visiting Japan in July. When’s the best places to wear a kimono? Or can it be worn anytime anywhere?
I don’t suppose you could find out how to do that weaving technique for the summer cotton/hemp where it’s twisted? I’m a weaver, and would love to know the technique!
Awesome 👍👍👍🙏⛩🐲⛩
Shogo this is great I wish we would have a shop like this in our city, but I live about 150 miles from a large city San Antonio Texas. Could you translate to dollar price. The kimono and all the accessories that come with the kimono thanks Shogo love you guys keep it up guys love you guys 😜👍🙏♥️👋
The summer Haori fabric seems sheer/see-through. Do you know what material it is made of?
Once I become rich and be able to purchase expensive things, I'll see to it I'll collect ancient traditional clothing all around the world
What seasonal kimono were you wearing there? Or is it not a seasonal at all?
I'm early!!
Day one of asking shogo to make a custom katana
😏😏😏
Do you know any places in Osaka or Tokyo to buy one?
Can you wear a head band also with a yukata??
Shogo if its possible for your to answer! is there a way to set the language to english in the kimono shop website? because i cant exactly speak japanese now... or read it
Unfortunately it seems they only have Japanese… But if you’re looking for more affordable online shop of kimono in English, this is my recommendation! www.kimono-yukata-market.com/
store.kyotohandicraftcenter.com/
@@LetsaskShogo ah sweet that makes things easier you're a life saver!
Hello, did you know where can i learn the Muso Jikiden Eishin-ryu style ?
That would depend on where you live! There are dojos all over the world😊
Y 25,200 is around $ 1,750 USD those reversible obi are very nice.... Shogo, have you met youtuber 'Tomoko Tomoko' ???
