Dambisamoyo. Brings cold hard facts without candy coating reality. Brutally honest with current status of economics and what could become if the abuse of power and authority won’t be eliminated. Her facts hit harder than the Activist and poet Gil Scott Heron! A human Watchtower of the decline of western economics.

This is a great presentation on the surface. The reality is that a small but POWERFUL set of people, own the World's Economy. The facts are that, especially African Nations as a majority, continue to accept crumbs interpreting those crumbs as loaves of BREAD.

If a makeup artist does not have the appropriate makeup for a black person it is best for her to go on stage without it.

Thank you for this video, Ms. Moyo. I would suggest that the Scandinavian model is our best bet - Third Way between the U.S. and Chinese model. If interested, I would like to Skype interview you.

An intelligent presentation that should have at least 100K more views already. Nevertheless, I have questions. You mention the erosion of social mobility and low economic growth. Why are these happening, especially when there are people and companies experiencing growth of wealth that exceeds 7%? Dambisa Moyo, I greatly respect you for saying we should care about economic inequality. Around 12:22 you used the phrase "think as a society." Yes! But I do not believe the current powers-that-be of capitalism - in any country - think that way, or ever thought that way, or have any inclination to begin thinking that way. Unless there is massive, unified public outcry I see nothing capable of reversing the current inertia. I would love to be wrong about that.

As a PS to my comment above: Today, October 22, 2016, AT&T has agreed to buy Time Warner for 80 billion. I am sure that this will improve the economics of a few people, but I doubt any concerns about society were involved in the deal. I also doubt that society, overall, will be served by the merger though I am sure execs have some propaganda ready about how great it will be.

What about countries like the Czech Republic? They have one of the lowest income disparities. What are they doing right?

It's not What are they doing right, it's about population.
The potential for the degree of social unequal has linear positive relation with the size of the population.
Some people might give examples that Scandinavian countries or the Czech Republic have a more equal society than the US.
What is common among these countries? They are smaller population size with a number less than 10 million.
Do you know how many cities in China along has population more than 10 million ? The answer it 15.

Czech Republic had decades of communism maybe that's why...though, Russia does not seem to have much equality.
