Absolutely great speech! Her words are exceptionally powerful and prophetic. She is indeed the last few African economist think tanks that this land has ever produced.Honest, critical and categorical daughter of Africa. We love you.
Thank you my sister. God bless you for your insightful indignation about aid-for I have never known a 'man who was given fish, instead of being taught to fish, as being prosperous'. Africa needs more leaders like Dambisa Moyo on the political front and Strive Masiyiwa on the Industrial-Rehabilitation front.
Blessed love still Jah guide and protect you Dr dambisa keep it up do not fear be bold like a lion always stand on truth and justice and remember you're there to liberate Africa, stop to be offended with Africans who have mentality of slave masters,Jah bless you one love thank you so much
Thank you Dr Dambisa, very insightful. I need to get your book. I was so ignorant about so many things pertaining to Africa. I always thought Africa has the most poor people. May God continue to inspire you and help you to boldly confront the issues affecting the land of my ancestors .
finally a voice of reason.but there is no profit in reason. the african continent provides free food and resources to the world especially europe.so it is imperative to slowly keep the people ignorant by force or choice.
When your views are noticed by the most powerful individuals in the world like Bill Gates and renowned institutions, then you are not cut from a rare cloth, Dr. Dambisa Moyo you are the rare cloth most seek to be cut from.
Eritrea is the only African country that has not relied on foreign aid and food. The country is 25 years old and has a strong policy on self-sufficiency and it is much against hand-outs from Western donors (I'm surprised no one is talking about this). The Eritreans want to rely on its people and government. The Eritrean government has done a lot of positive work such as in healthcare and food sufficiency. But the economy is bad, there are barely jobs for the young people. So, how can a country like that create more jobs for its people and lead the country to be an industrialized country?
The key problem in Eritrea is, that the government wants to decide everything in stead of giving people a chance to take their own initiative. This is planning economy. It failed in the Soviet Union, it failed in East Europe (Comecon), it failed on Cuba, it has failed everywhere - also in Eritrea.

I understand.Sadly their way of existence is promoted as the best and only model for human living. For many people a simple life is far too primitive and unprofitable. If the world around us is the reflection of the human mind, then who will save billions of humans from the traps of modernity? We have had more scientists and university graduates in human history. But we are still very lost.something went teribbly wrong.it is no longer about race, nationality or economy

Give them more freedom, and the initiatives will bring improvements. If the government keeps on suppressing the population, nothing will happen.
How is Africa's development a global problem?
What's the name of the film she named at the end?
