      Nah, the default character should only do all the basics, normal mid level guard to block strikes and defend take downs. Sean's philly shell thingy guard is hard to make it work in mma for beginners(no shits, it's a boxer style which is hard even for professional boxers to master).

    It's great seeing Sean using knees and teep here. Also, we love Sean because we get to see him sparring leading up to his fights and he spars anybody. Yeah Sean is very elusive, he reads fighters so well. People felt Izzy looked slow and that's because Sean read him like a book..he was like a shadow Izzy's strikes. Look at what Sean can do with just his hands and imagine what he can do if he opens that tool box and actually is very skilled in those aspects..and the thing is, he is. He's just gotta not be stubborn and fall into a macho slugfest with Costa. Costa loves fighting that way but Costa also loses a lot. Sean goes to decision often, so he has to remember the optics and better yet, once his opponents are clearly tired he needs to take them down and submit them rather than chasing for that KO.
    By the way, this is bellator's current middleweight champ..who just won against the PFL champ for the SUPER BELT. haha So that's why there's onlookers. This is very cool and Sean looks to be doing very well. They spar often.

      @@Kancerru his quad, they fixed his knee but that muscle ain't attached too well and he has a dead toe from a horse haha, it's probably a bit like my busted up shoulder, still works but is limited and not as powerful as it once was, just didn't heal right, it's really amazing he came back from that and actually started fighting better, I wonder if that crash is what created the unfiltered sean, head trauma can do that, it happened to sam kinnison, roseanne, gary busy, let's hope that latter one ain't the case

    • @theyehsohz
      @theyehsohz 20 днів тому +2

      The thing about using his legs is that it has to be as effective as his hands to keep the opponent second guessing, the combinations also need to change up instead of barrage of punches. What boxers do the best is to stick chest to chest, that's what Sean does in MMA he's sticky. If someone makes him back up, he instantly loses, case-in-point DDP kept throwing these wild punches and Sean instinctively backs up and DDP got closer and closer each time.

    I wish sean would sort of adopt a half philly shell and transition to a standard boxing stance. He's said repeatedly he doesn't like getting hit in the face, but the problem is it costed him the DDP fight. In the last round he really let it go and took risks and got hit but also got some damage out, but he needs to understand its OK to be knocked out by Alex, the philly shell is a great offense because you can walk people toward the cage, but when they have nowhere to go I think he should get rid of the philly shell and switch traditional so he can really get some extra power in his hands and cause more damage. I get part of his allure is being able to throw from weird angles and can read your muscles very well.
    Philly shell at range for offense/defense, then when he gets in the pocket he should go traditional and get some power. He just needs to trust his chin more and take some more risks. You can't throw a perfect check hook, uppercut, or overhand counter in that stance without telegraphing. He's essentially countering what YOUR throwing with straights and crosses because those are always faster than hooks.

    • @Global-Grit
      @Global-Grit 21 день тому

      He did exactly that against Adesanya. When you're a 200lb+ guy you don't need to throw 100% anyway. 60% power clean on the chin plenty enough to knock dudes out.

      What he does is great, just need to mix it up and add some kicks and deterrence with the take downs to make guys like DDP think twice about attempting take downs again. DDP got him down and all he got in response was Sean quickly standing back up. Like his coach said he should have make DDP pay for that each time, and the teep is really helps when guys are rushing. Sean fights to decision so often that optics are more important than ever. Once Sean gets these guys into deep waters, 4th round or so he should be taking them down. You'll see his opponents at the end of their fights with looks on their faces happy they lasted the fight. I mean they look as if they're not even thinking about judge decisions but rather just happy to have finished the marathon. He has to stick to what he does best but just little things here and there will remind the opponent that there's more to worry about. They need to fear the possibility of a knee to the face or takedown.

      he's pretty good though, current bellator champ, title defenses and just beat the pfl's champ in a super fight, I mean if you're gonna train..training with champions is a good idea

    If sean would learn how to throw that mayweather pistol jab from that philly shell he would be a serious problem.

    Sean Strickland is a street boxer. He fights people bigger and stronger than him, and that's why his offense is so efficient. He knows it's more about volume and accuracy than power

      But he is tho. Just because he got kod by Alex means nothing when Alex can ko 100% of the roster in 1 strike

      it just depends on the fighting style I guess, his style worked for most guys of the middleweight and Adesanya in terms of defense, but Alex and Dricus figured out and caught him.

      @@sigmaduck9495 Driscus didn't figure anything out. He's just freakishly strong and has elite Judo. Hard for anyone to deal with. In the standup, Sean was getting the better of him.

    0:28 if Eblen lands that right hand clean on the chin in a real fight, that's the end of Strickland's night. Eblen has serious power.
