They provide more power, and make the engine more durable at the same time. It's not easy to do, but cut off the last 1cm on each water pump fin with a metal bandsaw. Next, radius each fin end on a grinding wheel. Seems like a lot of work, but it only takes about an hour." I have the same question as Rushi in DSO: By cutting 1cm, do you mean by "shortening" the blade tips, or "lowering" them so there will be a big cap between rotor and it's housing in the block? And radius the outer "top" corner of blade tip, or all the edges in them, or both? Sorry for messaging/commenting here but I am not sure how to reach you. Thanks in advance!
It's something only suitable for engines that spend most of the time at high RPMs, as they don't move as much coolant at low RPMs. In today's world of excellent electric water pump options, I would never run a mechanical water pump again.
