Monday morning in Australia here. Missed last night due to rampant wife being on the warpath. All good now. Mike old mate, you never fail to deliver. Love your work!!!
Many thanks James! Glad you are enjoying the vids. It's getting closer all the time. I try and do a little bit during the week as each little job turns into a project ☺️ Best wishes, Mike
So much inspiration. If I was younger you'd be my I/N mentor! Where's my 1968 Triumph Daytona??!!!
🙏Many thanks!! Glad you enjoy the vids. I love the Daytona's. They are really nice bikes. Best wishes, Mike
A perfect Blue Peter moment Mike! You’ll have to explain to your local viewers!😂
that was going to be my question , do / did they watch it ?
Hehe, no not at all. It's a very British thing 😀
Bravo! mechanic, rider, cinematographer!
☺️Thank you John! Glad you enjoyed the video. I think I spend more time editing than anything else these days ☺️ Best wishes
Ha! I can just hear your mum saying “you always go too far”.
But to be fair, I think the bike deserves this level of attention.
Oh my gosh, that is so true!! That's 2 episodes right there 😄😄😄 Thank you for that, it made me smile and remember her ❤️❤️
Mate, another cool, calm and collected performance. I can never imagine the air in your workshop being blue!!! Well done.
Hehe, there are a few moments now and then that would break the camera mic 😄😄 Cheers Phil
Thanks for posting, Mike. I always learn a "shop-trick" or two from your videos. This is going to be a beautiful bike when you're through. Buy yourself some neodymium magnets, attach them to the steering stem as close as you can to the ball bearings and they will stay in place...... (good luck getting the magnets off). Thanks again for posting.
☺️ Thanks a lot Rod for the tip. Hope you are doing well and have a great Sunday. Best wishes, Mike
A nice tune I regularly heard during my childhood in the 60's. Another wonderful relaxing video, cheers.
Many thanks! Yes, I couldn't resist. Isn't it funny how those little expressions stick with you forever! Best wishes
If a job’s worth doing and all that Mike, well done, I wouldn’t expect anything less from you.
Many thanks Nigel! I hope all is well. I owe you an email!!! Best wishes, Mike
A successful mechanical session for the A10 👍
Many thanks. I’m really enjoying working on the bike.
This is going to be a real looker when You get it all cleaned & polished up. 😁👌
Thank you Robert. Yes, I'm really looking forward to seeing what it will look like. Best wishes
Same to You & Happy New Year. Cheer's.
Thanks Mike. Happy memories of my A65L.
Cheers, Peter.
Thanks a lot Peter. Glad you enjoyed it. Best wishes, Mike.
@@TheMightyGarage Just noticed my typo (which I just corrected)🤣
We used-to tap a small-wedge or appropriate-screwdriver into the 'pinch-slot' of the lower triple-tree to open it up slightly, allowing the fork to slide-out more-freely. Same for re-assembly , taking care not to over-distort it or contact the stanchion-tube... Dave
Brilliant! Thanks a lot for the tip Dave. Cheers, Mike
Excellent series - keep the videos coming! I believe the Tricon switch grub screw also provides ground (by digging into handle bars). Cheers!
Thank you Bob! I didn't know that. The electrics are like black magic to me ☺️ I appreciate the tip. Best wishes, Mike
Everything really Is in very-good condition so-far...all things considered Dave
Nice work Mike, very smart to take it all the way down and look it all over. Thanks for the video.
Many thanks Chuck. I hope you are doing well. Yes, I found a couple of surprises but nothing too serious. Best wishes, Mike
Excellent as always........👍
Many thanks!
Fantastic installment on the Super Rocket, Mike! I think we all can appreciate ball bearings dropping, it's pretty much expected LOL. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Many thanks Brad ☺️ Yes, I haven't figured a way around the ball drop ☺️. I have bought tapered bearings to replace the ball bearings, so that should be interesting to see how they work. Best wishes
Well that wasn't too bad Mike .. 😂 the guy who has never lost a ball bearing hasn't lived.
There's something satisfying with taking something to bits cleaning it all up, replacing those worn/broken items then putting it back together again. I had my soldering iron out this week
😉.. Thanks as always for sharing. atvb t .. 🏍
Thank you Terry! Hope you have a great Sunday. Best wishes, Mike
Mike, Always great to watch you with motorcycles. I noticed you stripping that kill switch wire. I recently bought on Amazon a,”Knoweasy” wire stripper. What’s nice about it your not pulling on wire to strip the end. Makes that task much easier and safer to not yank a wire off a connection. The Knoweasy stripper is under $20.00
Thanks a lot for the tip! I appreciate it. Best wishes
I was going to leave a comment on the Triumph T shirt, but you beat me to it! 😂
😄 It was the bike that didn't like the T-shirt that did it, honest 😄
Got to agree, I think I sighed after hearing the bearings bounce on the floor. Your space is so clean that you probably found them all.
🤣🤣 Hope all is good Doug. Thankfully I have ordered a very nice set of SRM taper bearings, but the ball bearings will show up a year from now and I'll wonder where the heck they came from and then worry about that for a week 🤣🤣
Hey, Mike, another satisfying video, gave me a good idea, because the forks of my BSA B25 actually stuck….. greetings from northern Germany Manfred
Hi Manfred. Hope all is well. Best wishes, Mike
Good progress Mike!
Thanks Gene, we're getting closer! Cheers, Mike
Mike que prolijidad.saludos Rafa de mardel plata Argentina
Ciao Rafa, grazie per i tuoi sempre gentili commenti. I migliori auguri per il 2024
All of that just to give the chromed headlamp brackets a proper polish. Haha. Your videos are the highpoint of my Sunday old boy. They've kept me from attending church actually. If I end up in hell, we'll only have you to blame. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣haha thanks Kevin. That was funny🤣 Best wishes, Mike
‘Barnacle Bill’ 🎶🎶 - “Here’s one I prepared earlier”…….showing your origins 🇬🇧 and your age there Mike.
Loving this BSA 👍
Hehe, it seems so long ago now, doesn't it, Andrew!!😄 Best wishes
Great stuff , thanks Mike
My pleasure Kevin!! Have a great Sunday
Great work.
Thank you! Cheers!
It does seem true the the individual component hardware is very high quality, so she should be very nice when assembled carefully.
Yes, I agree. It's all looking good so far with no scary surprises. Can't wait to see it start coming together again. Best wishes
Almost a 5 second gap between the bearings dropping and the requisite sigh… sadly we’ve all been there. Great project Mike and thanks for sharing.
😄Thank you Scott for your note. Yep, I seem to do it every time 😄. Best wishes
Hi , perfect video for me , I have to do my headrace bearings , on my new 54 B33 , they are bad , I bought some UK made ones from Montys motorcycles ltd , they have very good freight prices to NZ . Cheers .
Thanks a lot. I have bought a set of taper bearings and looking forward to seeing how well they work. Best wishes Mike
Great video 👌
Thanks Andrew! Best wishes 👍
Hi Mike, red wire goes to the amp meter I think 👍
Thanks Colin. Cheers, Mike
Really enjoy watching your vids. I love seeing old things brought back to almost new. I don't have the tools or the skills you have to fix the old Triumphs so I got myself a used 2008 Triumph Bonneville T100. I did have to get aftermarket pipes to try to capture that good old Triumph sound and feel. Do you still consider me a member of your Club?
hehe, yes of course 😉 that's a very nice bike and love that you added the pipes. I did that myself with my Thruxton and it transformed the sound 😃 best wishes, Mike
I was a Magpie man myself 😊
😄😄 2 for joy, Stephen 😄 best wishes
Put some taper-roller bearings in the steering-head...they don't cost much more and transform the bike's handling.
Thank you Nick. Yes, I have both got SRM taper bearings and they look very nice. Cheers, Mike
Hi Mike. Great video as usual. Just one observation I think you inserted the kill switch crimp the wrong way round in the crimp tool. It'll mean the bare wire part of the crimp is not as tight as it should be as it was crimped using the insulation part of the crimp tool instead of the tighter wire part of the tool. Also I would have doubled up the wire in that larger blue ring crimp as a red ring crimp would have been the right size for that wire. Only saying this so it doesn't cause you any issues in the future. Cheers.
Plus they are not really meant for auto's Those type look just wrong imho
Thanks a lot Colin for this. I will double check and fix it. I really appreciate you mentioning it. Cheers, Mike
I've found that if I concentrate real hard and thrust my tongue sideways against my cheek, the balls usually don't fall out on the floor.
😆😆 That was really funny! Made me laugh out loud 😆 Thanks Jim!
good thing you weren't wearing an HD t shirt
🤣 Haha, yes, heaven knows what the bike would have done 🤣. Thanks Denny!
I'd replace your headstock bearings with tapered bearings.
Thanks Rob, yes I bought a set of SRM taper bearings. They look really nice! Best wishes
Doing a really great job. Using that ali angle bar was a neat trick. Did you manage to identify what the cause of the front end misalignment was? Or is that for a future episode?
Hi Martin, I haven't had the chance to look closely yet. The stem seems just fine and straight and the fork legs are a bit knobbly but straight. I'm hoping that it was just the yokes/triple trees that are twisted. Cheers
Red wires are earths on british machines red probably goes to head lamp shell otherwise ground is going through steering bearings. Not a good thing electrically
Thanks a lot Les. Cheers, Mike
I’ll bet the significance of the Blue Peter theme is lost on your USA viewers! We got it though.
Hehe, I may have to explain that one in a follow up video 🤣🤣 Best wishes Ralph. Cheers, Mike
Mike, as usual your video is great but I think you are a bit confused regarding the igniton advance/retard control..... you called it the auto advance control and if it had an auto advance then you don't control it mate as it's automatic ..... you should have said the manual ignition advance lever......
Oh yes, of course. Thanks for catching that. Yes, I misspoke there. I have the auto-advance units on my other bikes and should have said that this was the manual lever. Cheers, Mike
May I know that tyre You use in the front?
Thanks
Sure thing! It's a Dunlop Gold Seal K70 3.25.19. I really like the classic look of the tyre. Best wishes, Mike
Aren’t you wearing the wrong T-shirt?
Hehe, yes! That's why the bearings flew at me 😀😀
