    Here is a tip from a guy who owns 2 of these. One with 365,000 trouble free miles and one with 400,000 trouble free miles and by trouble free I mean about 4 sets of plugs, six coil packs, two alternators, a C.V. joint and a radiator between them. If you can find one that isn't a total rust bucket ask the guy what he wants for it an pay him. I have owned Fords, Nissan, Dodges, Oldsmobile and two Lexus. I have never had a vehicle that required less maintenance and care and gave a trouble free service as a third gen 4Runner.

    my 2000 4runner has 264k miles , the oe lower ball joints are still like new. Absolutely no play in them whatsoever. Lower ball joints should be checked, yes. OE replacement recommended. It all depends if truck has had a hard life, if it's a typical 4runner in California and rarely sees dirt, it should last a long time. If it always had stock wheels/tires vs large tires like your truck it will have a much shorter life span.

      In the market, 4th gen makes more sense, 3rd makes my heart happy. Wish me luck boys.

    Theres an immaculate conditon 2000 4runner available to me with 202k miles no rust "no mechanical issues" for 4900. Should i stay away from it? Seems like all these problems you mentioned are bound to happen soon after/if i purchase

      If it’s four-wheel-drive jump on it if it’s two or drive I’d try to get it for three

      You realize this is nothing compared to a jeep or similar SUVS . Their list us 10 times longer and many problems are unavoidable

    What size tires and rims were those? Also the offset?

    Manual locking hubs swap! It'll solve your tearing CV boots issue. Then CVs are not spinning full time!

    • @SmittysWorld
      @SmittysWorld  5 років тому

      Dirt Garage yeah I’ve considered doing the swap just a little expensive.

      @@SmittysWorld That's true. I know a couple people who have done it on their newer vehicles and love it. Less driveline drag actually helped their fuel economy too apparently!
