WOW!! The 4A state championship features New Bern vs Grimsley and what a game it was! I mean fam this one had me hype all game long! I gotta give a huge thank you to our friends at 252 Under The Lights & Living With Guidance for making this weekend possible! We could not of done it without them!

True. New Bern running a very unique style of offense that Grimsley has likely never seen anything like before. It's hard to prepare for and play against. Especially and pretty much only if it's ran by such a talented team like New Bern.
Half of the East cost teams run this . Luke new Bern , Tarboro , East Duplin, Sout Lenoir North Lenoir DH Conley Ayden Griften First, flight . And Hella other schools so when we play schools that run spread alot they not use to teams that ground and pound and that clock never stop running
@@rasheeddotson9566 Agreed. I played in Greensboro. The triple option used to be very prominent when I played in 2011-2014. Northwest Guilford, Glen and Southwest Guilford ran a similar offense. It's a ball control offense. You have to straight ballers in the backfield and a dominant O-Line for it to work. That's why New Bern won states. They had those two key ingredients and a pretty damn straight defense. When bad teams try this offense it usually ends with a 1-9 or 2-8 record LMAO🤣🤣🤣
@@rasheeddotson9566 But this style of offense is no where to be found in the Greensboro area anymore. It's all spread. I've seen Tarbaro play and they have perfected it. Me personally, I love this style of offense. I can't stand so much of these spread teams. Shit is just so cookie cutter.

New Bern running that old school triple option game to perfection. And there O-Line was dominant AF. Not gonna say I am surprised they won, but New Bern clearly deserved it this year.
On another note, Grimsley should have stuck with the silver helmets lol. Them white helmets aint it bruh.
Being from NC I have never even heard of New Bern and I played and follow NC HS football. Where have they have been the past 10 years or so?
I see way too much talent on New Bern to not know their name.
They was 3 a years ago they was always getting Knock out the play off by Havelock

How u not know about new Bern? if you been following NC football then you should have heard about them in the past 10 years they won states and 2012 2014 and this year
@@shemarbaker595 I was playing in 2012 and 2014 NC 4A and we just never got matched up with them, I played in Greensboro and frankly I didn't pay attention to who won those years because we lost in the second round in both 2012 and 2014.
Great clarity to the footage but the camera angle a bit too close at times.
Honestly grimsley wasn’t even supposed to be there , bexause that catch that #1 from weddington made was supposed to be ruled as a catch . High school and college state that one foot in on catching possession are considered in and #1 definitely had that left foot down . The coach should have challenged that or took it to the board with evidence from the last video that played showing him having that foot down and they could have made the right decision for weddington to have went to the championship, that was unfair especially when you go that hard behind a game and you actually did what you was supposed to do as a player to put your team in the position to win

They were just stripped of the title last week.
Hell of a game, they ran the heck out of that ball. Not saying there wasn’t talent. But the championship was vacated because of player eligibility

I was gonna say bc 55 and 99 was not dominating or even the best DL they faced all year. Just shows if you got size you can get D1 offers lol

He was playing but New Bern O line controlled the game no doubt!
They offset him with a lot of sweep plays and outside runs. New Bern's offense thrives on that misdirection, but no doubt New Bern has an elite O-Line.

Me being a player in 2013 a team we got beat by in the 1st round had an ineligible players that played for them and wasn’t suppose when they beat us we took it to the board and they actually got eliminated, the only reason we didn’t get back in the playoffs bexause they beat us so bad so they made the city vote on if the team should stay in the playoffs or we be put baxk in and like said since they beat us so bad the city voted that the stay in the playoffs , but their consequences behind they actions was he was suspended for 10 games following the next season
Coming from a new Bern player now this aged so wellcause we ended up getting the championship took🤦🏾♂️

All east cost teams run the ball heavy East Duplin won , and Tarboro run the same thing but lost to mount airy . One thing abt this once you get behind its hard to come back because you don't pass I ran this for 2 years at North Lenoir Because I transferred to Kinston High for the Spread
When you have ballers at tailback and a dominant O-Line you don't need to pass, especially at the high school level. It's all about control. They will be glad to take 3-4 yards per play, then bust a big one for 30+ or a TD. But again, you must have a plethora of baller backs and a very physical O-Line or it simply won't work. Once you get ahead by a few TD's, you pretty much won. You just bleed the clock and control the game.
New Bern did something that is super smart that nobody is talking
about. They didn’t try to catch any punts in this game which is smart because of the high chances of making a mistake. Hough made that mistake and Grimsley recovered it and it cost them.
It was a great game plan by New Bern. Grimsley had a pick that they recovered from and the qb just dropped the ball. New Bern makes their opponents play perfect or they will not get the ball back. Unfortunately Grimsley never got a stop the second half.

Sometimes coaching cost you a game. More deep throws to the middle of the field, instead of the slants and fade routes, Grimsley probably wins.
