Another great video, Chris! I enjoyed listening to your live conversation with a fellow Gold Wing rider and hearing his perspective as well. Ride safe!
Now, this one I really like. Looks solid to me and easy install/removal. Good deal. Traxxion is very well made too. I am just negative for mounting a plate to the block like the Traxxion. I don't feel good doing it. Thank you for showing.
Rare as it might be, it’s been speculated or it’s happened, that the leading edge of the Traxxion pan, bolted to the engine, could get caught and tear away from the block. Again rare, but a chance not need be taken with a Wing Stuff Belly Pan.
@@roadglide I am sure Traxx's kit is fine, but again, that concept of using the main bolts on the block its a bit iffy IMO. I can't imagine hitting the front bracket hard.
@@alp3781 That’s what accidents are. The result of a rider thinking it couldn’t happen in a certain way. Like the bumper sticker says. “Crap happens”. Safe travels Alp.
The Traxxion plate is definitely a more rigid mounted piece. I would think the Wingstuff pan would offer more give or flex upon impact possibly resulting in less stress on where it mounts, so in this case, the Mickey Mouse mounting of the Wingstuff pan may be more beneficial.
100%. No question. There’s a recent photo of a beautiful 23 DCT Tour floating social media recently having gone through a gas station parking lot and inadvertently run over a hard to see unsecured small flat brass storage cap which was left “unsecured” by the last person checking the storage tank fuel levels. This rider caught the edge of that small flat brass cap in such a way as to flip it up on it’s edge in such a way as to get it wedged/lodged underneath the engine which dragged a small distance enough to puncture the underside of the engine causing fluid loss. The damage regretfully rendered the bike inoperable. This is just one of any scenario that could come about at anytime anywhere in the course of our riding. The Wing Stuff Belly Pan would have entirely prevented this. I prefer the Wing Stuff Belly pan as it is designed with venting for cooling and moisture drainage. It’s perfect for the job. I purchased one almost immediately when I bought my bike. Thank you for the important words Chris. It’s going to save someone a headache.
I recently picked up a new to me 2018 GW Tour. I learned about the vulnerability of the Goldwing's engine just looking up info on my new bike. Seemed like a no brain-er too me, a belly pan on these bikes is cheap insurance against what could be a MAJOR problem and expense. I ordered the Wingstuff belly pan that night and I installed it two days ago when It came in. I was able to get direct access to the left side engine guard bolt without removing the lower cowling. It just took me a couple extra minutes to remove the front and side engine covers so I didn't have to bend and fight with the plastics.

Thank you for your installation videos. They are really helpful.

Well said, thanks for sharing this story. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
This is the first thing I installed after riding the bike home from the dealer.
Been there, done that. A belly pan IS A MUST.
The Wingstuff Belly Pan has a good design, it’s easy to install and it offers excellent protection!
I run the Traxxion. Really like it so far.
The Wingstuff Belly Pan, is longer & wider and cost about $100 bucks less.
Great product and so easy to remove for maintenance.
Yes indeed!
Now what generation is this pan?
My Wingstuff pan I purchased about a month ago is a different style from the one you have the CC.
Chris will this work for the newer 2024's DCT's (no trunk)? It's a must have!
Thanks for sharing Chris. Safe travels. ARKANSAS Badlands
You bet
I bought the belly pan however, can’t figure how to get the front cowl separated as you did in this video .

You are very wise!
@@chriscaliente5033 Possibly $12,000 and months without my new motorcycle.... or $200. Hell, even I figured that equation out 🤣
Do you take the pan off when you put your Wing on the lift? Or not?
Which belly pan or Engine Guard do you run on your DCT Wing?
Thanks
I will stick with the Traxxion but when I buying it, there was no other good option because the Wingstuff belly pan was still being developed.
Let me know how the surfing goes !! Wink !!!
I will soon as I can figure out what your talking about. Can you be more specific?
Out in ocean with surfer board !!! Wink !! Be interesting with Goldwing! What it looks like… surfer board… grin
Why don’t you show the hardest part of the installation?? Getting the plastic cover off!!

Thanks for watching!
