3 Dead, 1 in Critical, Horrific Car vs Tree Crash | Chula Vista

- 02.12.2022 | 3:57 PM | CHULA VISTA - The white sedan was traveling at a high rate of speed and the driver lost control for unknown reasons.
The car went into the center divider and went head-on into a tree.
2 males are deceased, one in the car, one at the hospital.
A male and a female are in critical condition.
All 4 people are believed to be in their 20’s.
H St was blocked in both directions. eastbound traffic was closed for approx 45 minutes.
Westbound lanes will be closed for an undisclosed amount of time pending the investigation.
UPDATE: 5:15 pm
All 3 males involved have died, The woman is fighting for her life and there are 2 dead dogs inside the car.
UPDATE From CVPD:
On February 12th, 2022 at approximately 3:56 pm, the Chula Vista Police Department received several calls
regarding a single-vehicle traffic collision into a tree in the 500 Block of East H Street. Police arrived on scene
and discovered a Nissan Sentra had been traveling westbound. The vehicle collided head-on with a tree in the
center median for unknown reasons. The vehicle had four occupants inside at the time of the collision. Officers
and Paramedics responded to provide lifesaving measures to the occupants of the vehicle. The driver ultimately
succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The three passengers were transported to
trauma centers, two of the passengers succumbed to their injuries at the hospital and one passenger remains in
critical condition. In addition, there were two dogs inside the vehicle which were both pronounced deceased at
the scene. The Chula Vista Police Traffic Bureau was called to the scene to investigate the collision.
The names of the decedents are being withheld pending notification to family members. The cause of the
collision has not yet been determined.

So true. One time I was going out with these two friends and each had their own car. I went with one and my brothe and two friends went with the other. These freaking morons were driving so freaking reckless and we were all yelling at them to chill. Worst part is that my seat belt didn't work. I am never getting in a car with them.

that car had to be flying fast. I always drive extra cautious when I have passengers or my dog in the car. People need to slow down out there... and we could use more cops out there writing speeding tickets

When a car hits a TREE at speeds of 70 to 80 mph the forces involved are huge. The car stops in a distance of TWO feet and the bodies inside are still moving at the speed of the car. Airbags and seatbelts alone cannot provide enough protection and DEATH to all occupants is usually the result. Safety equipment is tested up to 40 mph but anything over that speed is a Crap Shoot.
Some drivers never learn that the tree always wins.
I wonder if the driver impressed the others with his racing skills?

The people in the back, and the dogs, were definitely not belted. The folks on the front seats may or may not have been belted, but the folks in the back and the two dogs became projectiles, traveling as fast as the car was when it hit the tree. If the ones in the front didn't die on impact, then they were killed by the rear passengers and/or dogs. The surviving one may have been cushioned by one of the bodies in front.
I guess with you having all the "facts" you must have been right there...in the back seat....right?????

Me thinking the same, though the video didn't show the other side damages, but the damage looks survivable and possibly minor passenger compartment intrusion which shouldn't be deadly. My best bet is not belted or the angle of collision is complicated
First of all my cousin died on impact. He was the driver. Sad to say but he had to be speeding. He was pinned in the car and dead on scene as well as the dogs. The 2 other passengers was transported to the hospital where they died. The other person is still in critical condition. This my whole family y’all taking about. An extremely disappointing scene to witness, can’t even think what their families and friends would be going through after this irretrievable loss. The death of 2 dogs right on the scene left me terribly heartbroken. Please drive safely and respect the traffic rules! Cars are dangerous, unpredictable machines.
It's really the operators of vehicles that are the real problem and will continue to be. For there to be that much damage, the car had to be going in excess of the speed limit posted for the area........
Well in my opinion if y'all get that pissed off at a tree think about borrowing a chain saw instead of using your car with all your buddies along for the ride... That way your buddies will all still be alive and they can all sit on the curb enjoy their beer watching you have at it...
@@heyrod59 Ofc the driver was at fault in this case. Over - speeding will definitely lead to disastrous consequences someday or the other, that's why I mentioned in the last lines to respect traffic rules and drive safely.

A 3 millimeter baby zip tie is much stronger than a car bumper, what about the soda can aluminum hood with some thicker aluminum to make it seem stronger. The weight of the car consists of 4 factors, Engine, Transmission, Interior, and the 50 plus computers in some cars. Why the older cars consisted of 2 things, Metal, and the block. The old cars weighed 3000 pounds, and the newer cars weigh around 3500-4000, but they are a lot more flimsy. Remember, a tree weighs a range from 7 tons to a whopping 240 tons some even weigh more. Cars will never win!

OOOO my GAWD....DOGS DIED in this crash....now THAT breaks my heart.
It's always eye opening knowing I survived a crash like that.
Unfortunately my vehicle looked the same as this. I was in the back middle seat (had no seat belt) & when we hit the tree, I went flying to the rear view mirror & window. Broke some ribs and had a "severe brain injury" because my head hit the rear view mirror head on.
Why I had my seat belt off? The drivers door wasnt closed properly & when we did a turn at a high speed. He flew out while 4 of us were still in the car. His girlfriend (passenger) started screaming & I rushed take my seat belt off to pushed the breaks but by the time I tried pushing the break, we hit the tree. I went flying. Driver was thankfully safe, he broke his hand from falling out but everyone in the vehicle got hurt. I got the worst injuries.

They probably were. Your insides get liquified when you hit the seat belt and your innards get slammed against your rib cage and the seat belt.
@@MrTommyboy68 not to mention what they call the aorta tear which happens in a lot of high speed impacts it’s where your aorta is ripped right off the top of your heart and you fill your chest with blood and bleed to death even tho you May not have a scratch on you anywhere.
I think you bleed out within 30 seconds or so, so you die relatively quick and there’s nothing anyone can do to save you if it’s a complete tear. Folks have had small or partial tears where it wasn’t completely ripped away that have survived cause they got to the hospital quick enough that they knew there was blood loss somewhere and they can see it with an ultrasound and could open the chest quick enough to stop the leak.
So yes, seatbelts help, but they don’t guarantee survival, especially if your gonna drive like an idiot

This is a brand new Nissan Sentra how did they die like the car did not really look that damaged must have not been wearing their seatbelts RIP.
edit: Just realized that they were definitely not wearing a seatbelt since you can see a huge lump of glass on the windshield this is so sad :( Prayers going out to the families.
New Nissans although new are probably the least safe car you can buy. That being said I don’t think that was a factor in the deaths. Not sure why people still insist on not wearing a seatbelt…it makes these situations really really sad.
@@Metallurge My mother has a pre facelift nissan sentra 2018* its a base model and the crash test ratings aren't good also ironically Nissans in this channel are like seen alot for some reason.

The internal organs slam against the skeleton and rib cage, the double whammy rips open internal arteries and presto, you are gone. Massive internal bleeding. Seat belts hasten the moment of death. The question to be asked is why the gotdam trees were there so close to the roadway. The airbags were useless.

Maybe but or maybe not. It all depends on the circumstances of the crash and sometimes on how durable and how much direct impact the particular vehicle can take. In most crashes brakes are applied, and at the time of impact all airbags are deployed to minimize injuries to the face and the upper body. Airbags have a low survival rate in a serious car crash, but you have a better chance with them than without them, and the same rules apply with seat belts. This crash is possible to survive but also impossible.

At a high rate of speed, near all vehicles do not do well, not just Nissan's etc. The crumple zones can only do so much

Cabin of car looks very intact and not crushed. I would have assumed the survival rate for this crash to be 100%, but that is given if all occupants were wearing seatbelts. Probably not though. WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS!

It is evident that these folks were exceeding the speed limit to such an extent that resulted in an impact velocity which exceeded their late-model car's safety features from being effective. Being a newer car, you see the occupant compartment was relatively intact... But once you reach certain velocity, it doesnt matter. My comment might not be as sweet and sympathetic, but I am trying to get through to people. To be supportive in a different way.

Looks like the driver lost control on the curve. Happened to a friend of mine a long time ago. Hit a wall and a tree. Luckly he survived.

I spend a lot of time online coaching random people that: Hey, all the air bags and crumple zones in your car are only effective when you're dealing with impact velocities of around 30 or 40 miles per hour. 50+ MPH impact velocities are still fatal, even in your 2022 Volvo. If everybody understood this concept, more people might drive in a manner that lends your air bags their best chance at actually saving your life. We have all heard stories of a friend of a friend who survived that bad crash when he was doing 70mph... well those are stories of LUCK; impacts that were not direct at a 70mph impact velocity or they would not have survived.
Maybe pre gaming and drunk driving caused this.
I saw a 3 car collision yesterday, and I was only 2 cars behind. I had to dodge the derbis.
Looks like the car was launched by the curb and airborne about 2 feet into the air judging by how high the tree was debarked on impact. Probably at least a 80 mph crash. Trees rarely loose unless they are very small. At impact the front bumper rotated around the tree almost taking all the bark off. Doubtful if that pine will survive.
