2 Cars Racing Caused Major Injury Crash | Chula Vista

- 05.25.2022 | 9:22 AM | CHULA VISTA - Witnesses told the CHP that the male driver of the Mustang was racing a Blue Camaro southbound on the I-5 with speeds well over 80 mph as they were cutting in & out of traffic.
The driver of the Mustang cut into a lane and rear-end a truck with 3 males inside who were on their way to work.
The driver of the truck lost control, leaving the roadway and went up the right-side embankment, and rolled several times back down to the right shoulder.
Firefighters extricated the male driver from the truck.
The driver suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital along with his two passengers who suffered minor injuries.
Traffic was brought to a standstill at times.
The CHP is investigating.

Wait until the Mustang driver finds out that his insurance won't cover his car. That and his financial liability to the people he injured on top of possible felony charges will mean he's totally screwed.

Drivers whose recklessness inflicts injuries on innocent people should be sentenced to considerable terms of imprisonment without the possibility of parole and face a lifetime driving ban.
This incident was entirely foreseeable and preventable, and those that commit offences of this type should face very severe penalties, both as a measure of societie's response to those drivers whose behaviour endangers the lives and well-being of innocent citizens and as a deterrent to others!
Currently, penalties do not reflect the enormity of the damage that these people do in society, and there are more and more cases of such behaviour.
Just because you have a fast car doesn't mean you have the brains to drive it !!!

I drive this area every day late at night. Those speed demons come racing up from behind out of nowhere all the time!! I'm usually doing about 70 (or more) to keep up with traffic and they pass me like I'm sitting still. Nearly been clipped a couple of times. Slow down people!!
To me it's especially dangerous driving in Chula Vista. I try to avoid that area if I can. They're so dangerously aggressive down there.
All I can say is watch your rear view mirror, and when you see someone coming make sure they have a clear shot. Up here in Rochester NY people do this all the time but not in sports cars, Makes for very dangerous accidents especially late at night, I've witnessed 2 myself because of people speeding and someone just wasn't watching the rear view and could have gotten themselves out of the way and just maybe have prevented themselves from getting hit. It's a very idiotic world these days.

In a barrel roll situation, the G-forces get intense. Your arms will move like you're holding 800lb barbells in the opposite direction of the force vector of the moment. Race drivers have wrist tethers to their belt to limit their arms' ability to flail out the window while rolling, which is obviously not good especially when your head and torso also wind up outside the window despite being fully belted.

Parents that just think with money and I’m speaking from experience. I had a brand new Charger when I was 16. Even though it was a 3.5L, that was way too much power for a beginner driver. I think back to some of the crazy stuff I did and how I drove just because I had a “sports car.” All I can do is smh! I’m super lucky to have not put myself in a situation as this one.

I was driving on this freeway yesterday to go work out and let me tell you that people drive like idiots on this freeway.
Take their license and hand them a bike. They need to stop worrying about guns and start putting a stop to just letting literally anyone get and keep a license. If you can't drive you shouldn't it's very easy. Pay attention to signs, wait on traffic to clear before entering a road, and keep control...I personally don't care if you speed, just as long as you can keep control. You want to fly by me doing 100 mph who cares as long as you don't wreck and there's not a lot of cars blocking the lanes.
