id say 75% of the people on the trails i see are wearing 510s, so they're obviously popular. But i think they're hideous. the Etnies have a MUCH better silhouette and style in general. Something about the 510's just looks goofy and ugly as hell to me. they kind of remind me of the big poofy DC's from the early 2000's that kids who smoked cigarettes at 13 years old would wear.
Ive have never heard a better description in my life. ahahahahaha Dying 😂👍👊 To be honest I initially tried them out just cause they looked better than the 5 tens

I have etnies mid Marana crank currently and I’m looking at the freeriders... so now knowing the sole is stiffer on the etnies, and plus the tongue has the gusset inside to keep dirt out, I’ll keep my etnies. They look better too. And if they’re not grippier than the fiveten what’s the point! Also I don’t want a hot shoe.
Worst thing about 510's is the pins mostly sit on those stupid circles, so it entirely relies on the rubber to grip the pin. The etnies at least have a grove for the pins to sit in, plus grippy rubber.
I have Fiveten freeride deluxe, and it looks they are less thick on the places you was talking about. I never have had problem with my feet getting too hot in them, so maybe try those But didn't try Ethines so far, so I'm not judging them
The original 5tens freeriders was dope nbut when addidas bought them, somehow they changed the rubber compound and it seems like it's not as grippy as the old ones are (i have both).
Im an ex skater so Etnies all the way 5 10's are expensive dont fit properly... tried purchasing two pairs so far one was like walking with concrete slippers and the other was so thin around the toe area it was thinner than my jeans. Ill try these I think

They did pretty well for a while. Then they ended up tearing. So I switched to the exact model that wasn’t an MTB shoe and they are doing fantastic

Yes the actual mtb shoes. But I have used the skate version for a while now also and I like them the same.

I would say yes they are more of a true size. Definitely more snug than the 5 tens

Been looking at vans but they are ugly, $$$ and narrow, Adidas, Puma, and i think I like Etnies the best on price and rubber compound.
