Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs is a good one that i havent seen any reactions too (saberspark made a video but thats about it)
And the original Petes Dragon is my favorite childhood movie that paved the way for movies like who framed roger rabbit in terms of mixing animation with real life

So something to note with this film, this was made to be a "Colorblind casting". Meaning it was to signify that the casting was based on talent and abilities more then anything else which is why i see a lot of people complaining about the Prince having a White Dad and a Black mom. Colorblind casting was introduced in the 90's in hopes to show that race doesn't matter and that talent meant more then anything when it came to casting each member of the show. It was to signify how far we'd come and how Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg wanted it when they themselves financed the production of the film.

Lexi, it doesn't matter if the queen is black or white. "I want some grandkids" is universal. Ask the king from the 50s Disney animated version. 😜

None of those are part of black culture. And they still aren't. It's really racist for the main character to not match their source's culture of origin. At least this film is based on a musical anyone can be in and play any character. _The Little Mermaid_ has no excuse. The architecture, the clothing, they're all European despite what's suppose to be the Caribbean.

I LOVE this version so much. I love the chemistry between Paolo ad Brandy and the way their voices compliment each other with the songs "The Sweetest Sound" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful" also, it's the only time where no one questioned how a black woman and a white man had an Asian child.

    fun facts about the movie:
at first Whitney was going to be Cinderella, when they pitched the idea in the early 90's. but as the production kept being delayed, she felt Cinderella needeed to go to a younger girl, so they asked Brandy, who was 19 during filming.
In the movie Princess and the frog, Tiana's blue dress was desinged after this cinderella dress, in homage to the other "first" black disney princess.
Also, I had to look it up, and technically the actress playing the stepmother (Bernadette Peters) was 49 in this and the actress portraying the Stepsister (Veanne Cox) was 34.
So technically only 15 year age gap, but its still technically possible for them to be mom and daughter

I grew up with this being the only cinderella movie I liked. My mom tried to get me to watch the Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella film from 1965. Rodgers & Hammerstein were the writing duo who wrote the music and lyrics, although this version remixed them... and improved them. I liked the music from the 1965 still, but the singing was meh to me, I don't think it had the same charm and the characters were as likable. I loved the step sisters and step mom in this version, not because they were good people but because they were charming in their own ways. IDK I will never not love this movie and Brandy will never not be my favorite Cinderella. The only other version of the fairytale that comes close is Ever After, but obviously Ever After is trying to make a "realistic" version of the story. Of the true fairytale versions of Cinderella, this is my favorite by fair. I'm so glad you enjoyed it

Bernadette Peters (The Stepmother) is actually much older than she looks. She actually still pretty much looks exactly the way she does in this movie today and she's currently 75. So she would've been like 49 at the time this movie was released. Although, there is actually a 15 year age difference between her and the actress who plays the white step-sister (And the step-sister actress is younger).

I’m commenting at the beginning of the video…baby I’m gonna need you to watch The Bodyguard or something and get into Ms. Houston. Also, Whitney was originally meant to play Cinderella but she was so busy and by the time she was ready to film she was in her thirties. So, she offered the role to Brandy. Whitney also produced this film, and even paid a lot of the extras out of pocket because Disney didn’t want to increase their budget.

@LexisThoughts cinderella's name is Daniella and she's played by Drew Barrymore. It's another 90s cinderella but it takes place in 14th century France. It's very much a realistic non-fantasy version of cinderella. And it's a girl-power movie.

I was a teen when this movie came out and I remember seeing previews for it (it was made for TV btw). Needless to say I was hyped since I was already a fan of the 1965 version. I just didn't know WHO was going to show up in this movie besides Brandy and Whitney Houston. I was already familiar with Brandy. I gagged seeing Bernedette Peters and Whoopi Goldberg and I did recognize Victor Garber from another 90s movie (NOT Titanic, it wasn't out yet, not in the US at least). For me this is my fav Cinderella adaptation now and I've seen A LOT of versions.
Yes, Rogers and Hammerstein have made very popular musicals, with Cinderella being the most popular one.
