Paolo is the finest Disney prince there has ever been! I stand behind that statement firmly.
Agreed
Yes the first Asian Disney Prince
100 percent.
@Ferlay Aguda-Santos I believe that he also played in "Mortal Kombat: Conquest" in case you'd like to enjoy more of his work. You're welcome. Take care and stay healthy. (Smile)
Totally agree 100%
My mixed Black Filipino daughter watching the Only Cinderella movie and she screams mommy and daddy.
To have a movie that she sees a prince and Cinderella that looks like her parents. Such fans love this movie.
Representation is everything. “It’s possible!!” RIP Whitney.
That is so beautiful 😭😭😭
You’re daughter is living Cinderella 2!!!
She's not outright related, Jimmy.
Awwwww
That is so wonderful!
Oh my God! Brandy and Paolo never aged??!!!! Wow!
They probably never got away with that!
Paolo somehow got even more handsome. And Brand looks looks as gorgeous as ever.
They need to make another version wherein they already king and queens.
Paolo aged down!
A lot of them didn't get old, and Bernadette Peters was 73 on that video.
When Natalie Reed's character is at the ball and says "I want a chance at him." I crack up each and every single time! Her humor was effortless! She is missed.
Natalie Desselle-Reid.
And, yes, she was amazing! She was my sister at Grambling State University. We pledged together. I miss her every day. RIP Soror. 😇🙏🏽
I had no idea she died last year RIP to her and Whitney too
🙏🏾🙏🏾🌸🌸🌸🙏🏾🙏🏾
I still get a kick out of that goofy line!
@@ambermedellin6832 I WANT A CHANCE AT HIM!!! 😂
Awww this is almost everyone....RIP Whitney and Natalie....
Yeah it's so sad to see who's missing.
Man... I can't even watch because it's a little bittersweet with Natalie's recent passing.
As an Asian, it really made me so proud to see Paolo Montalban! I loved seeing someone like me, a FILIPINO who was not playing the part of a servant or the bullied nerd. It was so refreshing, inspiring. I made my son watch it last night. Representation matters. Thank you!
I do want to add that the PERFORMANCES were amazing. It's not only memorable because of the diversity, I truly loved the songs and dance numbers. The costumes were so whimsical and creative too. Everyone in this movie - cast and crew, should be proud of their work.
Is it safe to say he was the first Asian prince with Disney?
@@CherrelleColeman I can't verify that. He's the first and only one that I know of. I could be wrong but I don't remember seeing a Hollywood / mainstream movie with an Asian prince. Hopefully, he won't be the last.
Your comment almost made me cry haha! So beautiful to see how the film affected so many people
@@CherrelleColeman no
We had a ✨ ball ✨ filming this with you! The countdown to midnight continues...
I'm so excited. I grew up with this Cinderella and cherished it so much 💖
Best Cinderella with the best music and cast and charm.
I loved this movie they did a great job with the cast.
ICONIC! STILL LOVE WATCHING IT TO THIS DAY💚
Please add @todrick Cinderella medley with Brandy to the end of the movie as a special ending🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💗💗💗
Everyone keeps forgetting Brandy's the first black Disney Princess.
KeKe Palmer (Broadway's Cinderella) said she was, in an interview, but she didn't do her research.
@@brianpelaccio4092 she was referring to Broadway. Keke looks up to Brandy.
@@MzSouthamerica no, she said, FIRST Black Cinderella..
@@MzSouthamerica Toni Braxton played the role on Broadway making her the 1st on Broadway.
This is Rodger’s and Hammerstein! Separate from Disney😊
Hamilton before Hamilton, Bridgerton before Bridgerton. RIP Natalie and Whitney.
Bridgerton shouldn’t even be compared to this movie. The whole casting on that show sucks, and they still managed to make it white washed-a white lead, and not even fully black people as the main cast (all biracial) 🙄
This version has always been iconic and just so unique to me. I wish more films were casts like this project.
exactly! you rarely miss with color blind casting 👌🏿
We are missing two people
Whitney Houston and Nataile Reed RIP
👼👼 miss them .
I wish Whitney was not on drugs.
Me to .
Rip in peace
Damn I miss them
Brandy is MY Cinderella
She was the 1st African-American there.
Beautiful production...Amazing cast. The most uplifting and empowering Cinderella and Godmother ever.
AMEN‼️‼️
And will always be 👸🏾
Facts 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
My favorite part is when the Prince would sing and the way he would look at Brandy as he would sing...it was magical ...i had a little crush on him as a kid lol I just felt he loved him some chocolate
Me too gurl
Can’t help but wonder if he really had a crush over her ? I looked (stalked) all his social medias and he always speak of her highly, like recently he almost said he’s in love with her in a valentine caption he posted. They are so cute onscreen together, I can’t wait for them to reunite after Covid.
@@Shantelasama Him mentioning that he was struck by her beauty actually made me fangirl SO HARD. These two were my first OTP😭🙌🏽
I'm NOT kidding when i'm saying this because Paolo Montalban and Brandy should be a couple in real life and get married
HOW DO YOU FIGURE?!? #NahBruh
I swear their chemistry is making me jealous !!!!! They would be so good for each other 🤩🤩🤩
@@Shantelasama Brandy hasn’t been married yet. They are star crossed, unfortunately.
Whoopie Goldberg’s pun on the ball was so hilarious to me! “It’s difficult to cancel when you got the ball rolling.” 😂😂😂
Her laugh afterwards completed it! 😂
She's a motor mouth!
As an Asian girl, it was great to see a Filipino prince but I was much more excited to see Brandy!! I felt represented seeing her as Cinderella even if I wasn’t Black. Also, as a kid, I never felt weirded out with the pairing of the Prince’s parents. It felt natural
Same. I felt just as how important it was for Brandy to play Cinderella, it was equally important for Paolo to play the prince because there was literally no Asian male lead as far as I can recall until he came along. I was a huge fan of Brandy’s music at a young age and so were many so it felt natural to be excited for Brandy to be Cinderella. Paolo I felt in some ways led the way over two decades before Crazy Rich Asians showed up. I always felt Paolo was sort of like the original Henry Golding
💯 % felt the same way
This was me exactly
Mr. Paolo is Fine - So Handsome
Yesss I found the pairing natural too.
Brandy and Paolo said aging is for peasants.
Black dont crack and asian dont rasin 😂
@@libfuzzy4629 black definitely does and get droops and raggidity. Lol. Make up does wonders :)
@@camara1194 brandy looks good without makeup as well it's scientifically proven that black women age 10 years slower then women of other races on average 🤷🏾♀️ and it seems you have an issue with me saying black don't crack only because it's interesting you have nothing to say about my Asian don't raisin comment interesting 🤔😂
@@libfuzzy4629 lol no. I never said she DIDNT look good without make up. She is a pretty girl and he’s a pretty boy. I didn’t say they were ugly. They’re clearly very good looking. But he’s definitely got some wrinkles in his face too. Let’s not act like we don’t see the aging on the face there. We can CLEARLY SEE that she’s in her 40s and he’s about 50. Lol. It’s not that serious.
@@camara1194 they still age better then white people on average of course they look older then when they were in their twenties, but white people (not all) would look way older then these two. I personally feel like the whole cast aged pretty well tho In this case
Glad they mentioned Whitney and Natalie. Everybody looks so good ❤️😍
This is the only “Cinderella” movie I like. The original Disney “Cinderella” movies & the reboot version all bored me. This Brandy,Whitney,& Whoopi version is & will always be my favorite “Cinderella” movie
Only one worth mentioning
They are great.
I agree that this version is Iconic but I also strongly recommend this other Cinderella movie called Ever After starring Drew Barrymore. It's another equally iconic Cinderella movie in it's own way.
yes I agree! my favorite Cinderella film by far! the characters, the music, everything 🎶 ✨
Me TOO
😍😍Brandy and Paolo look so good😍😍
they haven't aged, it's crazy! i had the biggest crush on paolo chile! 😂😭
As a biracial child, it was so wonderful seeing interracial families and couples 100% normalized. Brandy!Cinderella and Pablo!Prince remain my favorite Cinderella couple.
Same! My father is white, my mother black, I grew up in a world were set apart because of our diversity but this movie as a young child transported me to a place in which is didn't matter. It was just talented people, a wonderful story, amazing songs. Just an amazing thing for so many people at this time.
Exactly
The way Paolo talks about Brandy, Whew Child, you can tell he had a crush on her and probably still does. The way he looked at her in the movie was just 😍. If I had a man look at me the way he looked at Brandy. I too would have fallen in love.
The way he talks about and looks at her, shows how much love, admiration and respect, he has for her. This was a beautiful reunion and I am so glad they mentioned Whitney and Natalie, and I hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time, but I agree that Paolo looks at Brandy with so much love and admiration, and I'm sure she feels the same about him, and it just reminds me of the entire Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful scene in the movie, between them. But I'm so glad the cast had this reunion, and I hope they are all able to reunite in person, soon.
Their chemistry was so beautiful
Natalie's best line ..."I wanna chance at him!"
That line killed me when I watched the movie as a kid. 😂
She was wildly cool!
@@ddot9566 So did the scene where she holds Lionel in a headlock
This is the only Cinderella I can watch multiple times and I am okay with it!!
I won't watch it everyday, but I go on.
Absolutely!!!!!!
Sameeee!!!
Brandy IS Cinderella, years ago, they should've brought this version to the stage.. Would've run for years, but people think things need to be changed.
There actually have been stage productions of this - Paolo Montalban, who played the Prince in this TV movie version, played the same part in a stage production. It was even on Broadway in 2013, and Keke Palmer was among the actresses who played Cinderella.
@@GarudaMan9 the version on Broadway, was not this version. It was R&H, yes, but they added, as they always do to unbroken art
@@GarudaMan9 I saw Paolo on stage in Boston in the role of the Prince in the super early 00’s. It was great!
I love the movie so much I never considered it being on the stage! I love this idea.
Changed for what…this was the movie I never questioned race…only when I grew up society chimed in. All I’m saying this is the one of the best example of blind color casting ,if they decide to remake it they can add more racial diversity and maybe brandy and Paolo as the parents…the Randomness was the best thing.
All these years and Paolo (the Prince) is still fine 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am overjoyed that Cinderella 1997 is having this moment of recognition so many years later. It is a modern day classic in every way.
The way Brandy got excited when Paolo praised her is how every woman of color feels about Paolo. It was great to see a black princess but to get Paolo as a prize has the same weight in the popularity of the movie as well.
Paolo... not Pablo 😂
SaGeForReal okay you want a cookie for correcting my spelling?
Paolo is the biggest sweetheart 🥺 Obviously he deserves all the praise for his handsomeness, but every single thing he says in this interview is so kind. The man is throwing out compliments everywhere.
A TRUE prince! 😍♥️
I still remember being a 7 year old kid watching this with my entire family, we ordered pizza and sang the songs all night long after it ended.
✌❤🍕
You're making me hungry!
My mom bought the VHS for my 13th birthday, and we watched it while eating pizza. She was surprised when I asked for it because she thought I was too old for princesses but Brandy was both magic and cool. She will always be my Cinderella.
Paolo’s gasp when heard this was releasing “at the stroke of midnight”is beyond precious! Truly a mesmerizing work that was effortless in diversity and talent!
Paolo's expression when the interviewer said it was being released on Disney+ "at the stroke of midnight" was so precious.
I grew up watching this and what’s funny, it never donned on me how it was so multicultural. I was just so awestruck on the TALENT: Whitney Houston! Brandy! Jason Alexander! Bernadette Peters! Whoopi Goldberg!!! And the prince! What a dream as a Filipino girl to see a face so familiar. It was and still is such a beautiful film.
And Victor Garber
This movie and cast is so iconic. Omg and the music my God we are in heaven.
Whitney and Natalie, two talented ladies, gone way too soon! Loved this interview. You all have me pulling out my DVD to watch it right now!
Right Rest In Peace To Both ❤️🌹😢😭

I need to know her secret.
She's GORGEOUS!!😍
Neither does Bernadette Peter's

This reunion was priceless. I must have seen this film at least 20 times. Can't wait to wear it out again on Disney +
the best way to celebrate Brandy birthday
I knew it was her birthday. Even my mom (despite not liking Brandy Norwood for getting away with murder) was shocked! Hypocrisy aside, my mom understood that it was a birthday she'd never forget when we listened to some Whitney Houston on the radio. No wonder though!
Right
This wasssss my Hamilton as a kid! As an adult now It makes me realize why I love Hamilton so much. The way opportunity was provided for such a diverse group of people to tell such wonderful stories. It creates a world of possiblity for kids. I wanted to beee Brandy when I was a kid! The way she remained so sweet and kind despite the cruelty of her step mother and sisters. My mom would play this all the time and we would laugh, sing, dance! The music, the colors, the choreography, (we see you Jason with that tap scene😏) Brandy will always be my Cinderella as well. I never knew so many people loved this version and it warms my heart to see it🥰
Wow. Rewatching the movie after years and now having the cast to be back for a reunion is cool. Wish Whitney Huston and Natalie Desselle - Reid could be here for the reunion. Rest In Peace 🙏🏾
How did Paolo get more attractive? Dang
My favorite Cinderella! I remember seeing it as a kid for the first time on BET. Beautiful
I saw it on ABC for the first time before I had the VHS bought by my mom at Albertsons (which was closed in March 2005). Said movie version was on Disney Channel, Freeform, VH1, and MTV (but neither at the same time anyway).
I wanted to ask Whoopi- was the queen’s high pitched cries improvised or already in the script?
They did ask I think you missed it. They were improvised.
@@c-bee2904 improvised is the best imo
Paolo still look GOODT! Brandy please please please give this man a try! You fumbled it in the 90s sis!
Brandy and Paolo still look so good together.
So do Bernadette Peters and Veanne Cox.
when i saw that it was 40 minutes i was like "omg it's a long one!" :D and then i watched it and it was already ending and i was like "what??? that's it?!" it felt short
Can we all agree Brandy’s and Paolo’s spark is still there 25 years later? Seeing them speak about each other at the reunion special was beautiful. I listened to a recent interview Paolo did after the reunion special aired, and he said as he was talking about seeing Brandy at the steps he got emotional, and had to recollect himself to finish the interview. These two would make an amazing pair irl.
Your analysis was true. He did collect himself as his emotions were making it difficult to speak. If I were Brandy, love would not pass me a second time. (Ms. Gaddy, Erica’s mom) 😊
Wonderful interview, thanks so much for posting!!!! Missing Natalie and Whitney for sure but it's a joy that this iconic take on the classic fairy tale is getting this reinvigorated love from joining Disney+. Loooonnnngggggg overdue and I'mma need them to go ahead and add the soundtrack to streaming platforms too! Oh and Paolo is STILL the sweetest and finest Prince ever😍🥰😍🥰
Lawd he is! Handsome!
Omg I really want to hear paolo sing again!!! He has such a sweet and warm voice!! ❤️
@@babyniu3232 There are a few videos on UA-cam of him singing. I know because I looked about a month ago. LOL! (Prince Chris fan since 1997) He is still quite a handsome man with the most gentle spirit, which makes him all the more attractive. And not in an inappropriate way, you know? He seems like the kind of gentleman that I'd feel "safe" to just sit in his presence and share a nice conversation. (Still dreaming... giggles with delight)
Hope you'll stay safe and healthy too. Take care. (Smile)
Love Anika Noni Rose to death, but Brandy will forever be the first African American Disney Princess to me!!
MY CHILDHOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could never find the Disney cartoon Cinderella on VHS back in the day, but I found this gem of a movie on VHS instead 🥲😭
I saw the screenshot and was like.... Someone is missing. So sad, she passed so recently. Cancer is cruel, RIP Natalie
I remember watching as a child and never dawned on me nor did I question on how a black woman and white man have an Asian son. He call them mom and dad and I took it as is. The diversity period was normal even for a child POV. I thought the chemistry between the prince and Cinderella was perfect. He is still handsome
Brandy really carried this interview. Love her energy!!
I remember sitting in front of the television in 1997 watching this Cinderella movie with my family. I loved it then and I love it now. The entire cast was amazing! Makes my heart happy! I'm so grateful that a new generation will get to see this.
Whoopi Goldberg & Victor Garber are underrated gems of this film. The scene where he says: "Your mother was talking, I was listening" and then when Whoopi says: "Max, my smelling salts." ICONIC & HILARIOUS 😂
It was so natural and authentic - that's why you forgot about the ethnic differences. So S/O to Paolo for acknowledging what everyone has been saying an African American mother and white father can have an Asian son as long as their names are Whoopi & Victor 👸🏿🤴
Brandy is the best Cinderella, and Paolo is the best choice to play her husband.
I don’t care. Brandy is THE BEST Cinderella.
I know EVERY SINGLE LINE to this movie. No exaggeration. I adore this movie, the actors and actresses did what they came to do! The beautiful costumes, the amazing sets, the ballroom choreography. It is an unforgettable classic.
You know what... I’m about to go watch it again 😂

I love that this is a movie so many can cherish BUT I LOOVEEE even more that it was made during my generation which just hits a certain way ✨ The best !
My favorite version of Cinderella. ❤️ love this WONDERFUL cast. RIP to Whitney Houston and Natalie Desselle!
There is something about that version of Cinderella that reminds me of the happiest times growing up. The feel of the movie, the sets, the costumes, the cast, the music, etc.
It's warms my heart to see them talk about a film that's been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. Glad to see they still hold it dear as well
RIP Whitney and Natalie. You are truly loved and missed.
This makes Paolo Montalban (Prince Charming) the first Asian Disney Prince
Said Prince was adopted by an African-American Queen and a Caucasian-Canadian King. In reality, there is no relation anyway. #soneeded
That Asian man made me love Asian men. I still haven’t been delivert yet. Buddy still around thought he went down with the titanic 🤧🤪
I watch this movie everyday for years. Now my son watches. I had the opportunity to play “Cinderella” in elementary school my leading role. As well as Tina Turner I miss acting so so much.
I love everything about this rendition of Cinderella! It’s diversity, the dialogue, music, costumes and lighting. Also, whoever did the casting is brilliant! I just miss Whitney and Natalie! So good to see you all (who haven’t aged)!

This is the only Cinderella I've ever seen. I would sing along so loudly, and I'll sure horribly, with every song as a little boy. I would watch the Prince's every move when he was on screen (as a gay guy I now know it was because that man is absolutely breathtaking.) I still sing in my own little corner and falling in love with love randomly once or twice a month while I'm cleaning
It was not everyday I would watch away because I watched different films until 2001 because I was under investigated by some bus assistant. I refuse to name him no matter the race, religion, hair/eye color, etc. It would not be nice anyway.

Why did he only ask jason that question? We wanted to know all of their answers to that question on what was their favorite/unforgettable scene.
I would like to hear more about when they got the call to do the part.
I appreciate that he did that because some of us wanted to hear all of them speak and Jason spoke the least. The interviewer was at least attempting to include everyone in the conversation.
I love watching this version of Cinderella,,,loved the diversity,,had a crush on Paolo
Me too!
I completely missed out on this film in my own childhood but watched for the first time with my 2 year old this year- the ROMANCE is so beautiful in this version! And to be able to show my daughter representation of herself and her mixed family is priceless.
ahhhhh - that's precious
I was a child of mixed parents growing up (mom is white, Dad is black) in the 90s, and seeing this multiracially diverse version of 'Cinderella' meant more to me than I can express in words. I have the vhs, and the DVD and basically know the movie word for word. So glad it's available on Disney plus for coming generations to see. It's message is just as important today as it was when it first came out
How does Bernadette defy the aging process? I remember her looking exactly like this during the bts footage of Annie. And that movie is old..
She looks the same in "Into the Woods" Which is crazy because that version is older than I am.

This is hands-down the best version of Cinderella in my mind.
We need more black characters n disneyland need more tiana merchandise
We need our own “Disney.” It’s time. There’s some phenomenal talent out there.
Paola was my all time favorite Prince in Cinderella. I do the same thing. I can’t watch other versions anymore. I live this version most because of the multi-cultural, star studded cast. Timeless.
Bernadette Peters looks amazing! Not sure what she is doing, but it works
I’ve been pausing almost every moment to squeal about how adorable and precious this cast is! They’re just magic together

It is great seeing this cast again! This was my favorite Cinderella not only because of the diversity but the talent here was off the charts! No weak links here. This was an amazing production. I can't wait to see it again on Disney +.
Happy birthday brandy
RIP Whitney.
I need to admit this. When I was a kid I didn't pay attention to the multiracial cast, and as an adult. I understand, and applaud, such diversity. However, when I was like 10 and starting to understand that movies weren't just really good recordings of actual events. The King, Queen and Prince stressed me out. I couldn't understand how they produced that child. This is around the same time I found out that Angela Bassett wasn't actually Tina Turner and Canada was a real place. Please don't judge me 😂😂😂
My niece who’s 21 just watched it fir the first time. She said to me, from now on, when I mention Cinderella, this is what I will be talking about! She loved it!
I'm so waiting for Halle Bailey to rip a new attitude into The Little Mermaid😘😘
I'm afraid it's gonna be awful like Mulan, and halle will be reduced to bland lines and unoriginality. I don't want to get my hopes up. It might be that halle's angelic voice is all that saves her character.
