This movie should be in the regime of great war movies like platoon, platoon leader, ( which was a remake of a true story, I think ,maybe, not sure, named hill 43?) One of the greatest Vietnam war movies.
As a Special Forces vet, from the Vietnam war, I have long considered this one of the best SF movies. And no actual green berets were needed. (The movie "The Green Berets" (imho- was a pretty bad movie). B-)
@ are you people kidding me? You don’t realize that 1978 is when the movie is released. That’s why it’s 1978. It’s a movie it’s not real. It was made after the war.
This movie is so much crap ( wrong timeframe, wrong uniforms, wrong weapons, wrong interaction with Vietnamese soldiers, …) that it couldn’t have been made by anyone other than Hollywood. Crap like this did nothing but feed the civilian animosity towards soldiers who didn’t want to be there, but served their country anyway!
one of the truly great movies about the Vietnam War. Great cast, great characters and great script. A Classic
I found this movie several years back on VHS. I've watched it many times. It's truly a forgotten masterpiece. Thank you so much for posting it !

Can't say I've heard this kind of cussin' in a 70s movie! 😄
Thank you !!
Interesting movie in that it takes place at early stage of Vietnam War, before the major buildup that was to follow. Thanks.
Filmed in Thailand...Farmers armed with Siamese T45 Mauser Rifles.
Vietnam vets
When is the last time you heard
Birdie on the wire???
To the uploader: I was just being an ass😂 I like this Vietnam Flick very entertaining. Thanks for the upload of this awesome documentary👍🏻✌🏻
Great line: "Go puke with the Lieutenant."
"The barbed wire just makes them itch a little bit."
Interesting film. Thanks
The us army wouldn't support the movie because it depicted
A bunch of misfits rather than
Professional soldiers like green berets!
Excellent movie 🍿🍻
BERT?
It’s Burt
Burt

Spelt 'Burt Lancaster'

Again movie was made in 1978, figure it out lancacster was an old man by then

The movie was taking place in 1964, that's why armed m1 carbines , advisory command . 1978 we as year movie was made , hello hello, duh, duh
I like war movies and particularly this one even knowing it's American propaganda
Falkenbergs Legion,,,jerry pournelle,,,this story is similar..
I think they made this Movie in 1960, not 1978
Hello!
Up to date early 60s Viet Nam MAC.
Get your date correct 1978 the war was over ................
@@ronaldprovencher7570 I hope you’re kidding. The year is when the movie was released.
The @LionHeartFilmWorks The war was over 1975 the last person that was killed a Marine as the American Embassy was being close
Opening credit "1978" is deliberately misleading. Fraud movie -- I never knew any U.S. soldiers such as depicted here.

Yanky go hom...😮
A poor war movie.

This was actually a pretty good movie. Definitely representative of that whole Vietnam fiasco!
crap movie
Funny. Lancaster is in this about the same time The Unknown War came out - a decidedly propagandist piece by the Soviets.
nam was over by 1972 so why put 1978 on the film
becasue it was released in 78........ also NAM wasn't offically over til april 12/75 by all standards
Vietnam was over in 1975
Vietnam was over in 1975 not 72
are you simple???? The movie came out ( was released) in 1978!!
War ended April 30, 1975 I joined army the next year at 17 out of Cleveland Ohio
The calendar says July 1964 so lets deal with that movie made 1978 Vietnam over 4 1975 ok
BURT Lancaster, OMG. Worse than a lazy "news" intern failing to proof a headline. 🙄
