Half of those that say they are disabled are not. Mental health patients need 2 work especially if they are having sex and having out of wedlock children. Give those who have Cancer. I just listened to the phone video of Trump talking about Entitlements on one of your videos of another persons video . Entitlements aren't only Social Security and Medicare. Actually they aren't even entitlements. Trump said there are many ways to cut entitlements, which could mean Unemployment Benefits, Welfare, SNAP and so on. I have never heard Trump say he was going to cut Social Security and/or Medicare. I've heard him always say he wouldn't touch Social Security and Medicare just as he did during his first term. This all sounds like another democrat fraud thing to me. How do we even know that was Trump on the phone with those out there trying to sound just like Trump. I will believe he said or meant Social Security and Medicare when I actually see his mouth muttering those words. Just like the audio Eric Swalwell played in Congress for the Hurr testimony with Trump slurring his words and such; I believe that was tampered with as well.
I’m on SSDI and I have had to put food back because I couldn’t afford it and now we have to decide on if we want to go to the doctor or buy food or medicine everything is going up way too fast

I received SSI , and work part-time it’s hard trying to keep food on my table , I spend $40 every week for groceries, all prices of meats and side dishes, sometimes I eat once a day , or twice a day . It’s hard I’m tired of struggling.

We are struggling !!! Everytime we get our checks we pay our initial Bill's. And we have to make a list of what we can but and not buy for groceries. And it nothing left to do anything buy gas and we're broke. My disability and wife has social security. Not any other coming in .
I know how you feel I'm in the same situation soon as you get paid it's gone and my kids have their own families but they help when they can I had back surgery 3 times and a messed up knee and a bad heart on top of that I just found out

@@shirleywoody9777 - Are you two Seniors? If so, have you looked into a Medicare Advantage Plan? There are 0 copays for Dr. office visits. You also get some coverage for hearing, vision and dental and free rides to and from the Dr. It doesn't cost a penny more than regular Medicare and you get a lot more perks.
I have Medicare Advantage in Philadelphia, Pa and get free rides to and back from the doctors office and if you are low income you maybe able to get "extra help" from Medicare to pay for your medicine 💊 and any shots you may need.

It isn't going to come 'NOW'. It will have to go through all the steps to be legal and put into law before anything will happen. It's just a proposal at this point.

Not going to happen unless your state decides to do something IF they feel they have surplus funds to distribute. DC isn't even talking about another stimulus payment.

Myself I'm recieving SS,EBT and HUD and I'm even having it rough but it's life!. If I didn't have to buy a new battery for my car I would've had enough money for the month, one way or the other I'll survive. I don't get what the government says ppl on SS gets, I get much lower than that!. Biden needs to quit giving our countries money to Ukraine and also quit giving them the military equipment that they obviously don't use. Sanders isn't going to agree with Biden on taxing ppl who makes $400,00 and up. There's really not that many ppl in the $400,00 range. Sure If they agreed on it the middle & lower class ppl will feel the blunt of it somehow anyway!. If Sanders can pull it off then kudoes to him.

I have experienced returning groceries in the past. So now while I'm shopping, I calculate my number before I get to the check out. A lot of things I use to buy, i just cant afford it anymore. I'm over wait, and cant get the right food to eat healthy. Struggling bad.

Contact your state officials to voice your concerns. If enough people do it, maybe they will finally do something. We can't just sit on our butts waiting for something to fall in our laps. Anything worth having is worth fighting for.

Last time I checked anyone making 400,000$ a year are not middle class. That means he's not trying to make senators and congressmen pay a dime along with the rest of the one percent. They really got me thinking about the election this year.
Just happened to me yesterday at the store I had to put back several items back.
Have you tried shopping at the $ stores for less than what the grocery stores charge and using coupons? Also, check all the ads before you go shopping to see who has the lowest prices or what specials they have for that week.
There are coupon sites online where you can print off coupons to use. :-)
Every week my bills come in they've gotten higher since the last month my money don't go far I have to have help with certain bills to it's very important to me my life insurance policy that's important my car insurance is important food is the most important thing of it all and I had to put a gallon of milk back cuz they didn't have enough money or food stamps to buy the milk so they're going to have to get off the pot and start doing the right thing give us what we asked for so we can afford to pay our bills my fiance is really ticked off about things because she had to put some stuff back for her daughter and I didn't have the extra money to help her and it hurts me very much not be able to help someone I care for I think y'all should just take and give us 500,000 and just shut the damn doors and never open them again especially the ones on social security disability.
Go get the free food available to anyone who needs it to supplement what you already have. Take advantage of everything you can.

I got my SSI on the 1st. Paid my bills on the 2nd, and had to ask for help to keep my electric on from St. Vincent DePaul! I don't get any extra food stamps now in Arizona and live 53 Mike's from the closest grocery store. I am already out if milk, eggs, bread, onions and butter. And it's only the middle if the month! No money for gas to get my meds or go to doctors! And I just had spine surgery April 20th! I don't know how much more I can take!! The depression alone is crippling!

All I get is $169.00 from retail clerks a month and barely $900 from social security. And I have to take 12 medications a day. And can't really afford alot of food and do not go on any vacation because of the cost of gas. My 4 daughters cannot help me because they also have there kids to take care of it's getting really bad. PLEASE HELP US! And I don't understand why when you they took out taxes when I worked for 40 years and social security takes out taxes also WHY!
Interesting. SS isn't taxed in AZ. You get out of SS what you paid into it. It's just another saving's account and was never meant to be a person's only source of income.
They shouldn't take out taxes unless you wanted them to. They don't take any out of my check.

No thanks. You can keep those stimulus checks with how inflation is.
They never promised anything. They are all proposals and, IF they don't meet with much enthusiasm in Congress to get anything passed by a majority vote, they will scrap it and move on.
They never, ever promised stimulus payments until this Covid is over. They wouldn't because no one knows how long it will be around. It would cost way too much money so it's a no go.

I’m having to look for a second job that is part time. I’m on disability and because I’m visually impaired I can’t make more than 2,260 so I won’t lose my check. I’m having to do this so we can make ends meet. My rent just went up $76. I now have to pay $973 and waiting for Section 8. Food at the grocery store has gotten expensive. If we get the increase on social security it would help immensely. I’m in full support for increase to social security
Dave what the senior citizens in usa have to endure as a result of our governments refusal to address ss is rediculis.
We have worked all of our lives to retire in poverty. For 20 years these greedy multi billion dollar businesses have donated to the politicain that do their bidding when the issue of minimum wage increases came up. If they had voted to increase the minimum wage to keep in line with inflation over the years seniors be in a much better possition now.
If they had adjusted to cola to ss to keep it in line with inflation we would be in better shape right now. Our families would need to take money from their budget to help their parents at the expence of our grandchildren.
And now we hear the same lip service from the likes of Lindsey Graham who by the way has been one of the most vocal voices against both minimum wage and ss reform every time it come up in congress.

Thats what i had thought but usually you and i agree on many issues so i had to check it like you said.
And alot to do with his decline has to do with his tight ties to trump. And his voting record is slanted closer to the right. His state is ranked 40th out of 50 and that has effected him as well
When S.S. S.S.D.I. raises the amount of EBT goes down so the extra money is used on food so as far as living expenses goes it doesn't help.
All we can do is what we can do with what we have to work with. We've made it this far and will continue to survive but we have to do whatever we can to help ourselves and take advantage of everything that is available out there.

I am so glad to hear this, and hope they really move forward on this. I switched my eating to a "plant based diet" and even though I don't eat "meat or a LOT of diary, it's still expensive to eat and pay bills.
I think they should go to $250,000 I don't think it should be as high as 400,000 $250,000 plenty enough money to live on and live comfortably!

David on each Wednesday in Chicago Illinois Willow Brook food pantry is open and giving food to people. If you can see how many cars are waiting to get something but most of that food is expired and not good to eat

I’ve been doing all this since I started my ss. I had to retire early because of a disability and that took a lot from what full retirement would have given me. So I’m hurting on buying anything. Can’t afford the medication I need for my diabetes. Only go to grocery store once a month and don’t get what I need at all. Having to use credit cards I had paid off and now don’t know how I’m going to be able to pay them off again. This isn’t how my golden years were supposed to be. They have to do something!!!!

@@kikegarcia100 - I'm middle class and I'm doing much better than I was at this time last year. I know many others who are too. I just paid off all my bills and now only have living expenses. I've been saving since I was 16 and started working. I also have a side hustle that brings in extra money. I have now retired from full-time work and loving it! I have achieved my goals and worked hard to be where I am today. And I am considered disabled and still worked.
My point is, you can do anything you put your mind to if you really want to do it.
I have to wonder if this weren't an election year with things looking dire for the Democratic party if we'd even be hearing about this now. As far as the promise about not raising taxes, they might decide to play the "it's not federal INCOME tax, it's SS" card. I agree that the payroll cap should be eliminated, but how you collect from those whose wealth isn't tied to a paycheck, I have no idea. Because my husband and I are both on SS, that additional $400/month would be significant in our household. That amount would cover an outpatient surg3ery copay. We could afford healthier food choices. And if we're spending more, everyone higher up the chain benefits.

I went through the same thing at the store. Had to put many things back from not enough money. I also have a pension and with Gass prics. I can't make ends meet. Living in Ct. Is so helpp and can afford to move. I worked s very had most of my 75 years. It's disgusting to have this happen in our U.S.A. if it weren't for my faith in Jesus, it wouldn't want to continue. I have to try to calculate my items to keep from having to put back what I can't afford! I live month to month & I'm barely surviving! I don't qualify for food stamps too! Because of my pension, I have to file income tax to get my money back which is tax exempt. I never have money to save after my bills & needs are taken care of! Stay safe Brother David! 🙏

GOOD MORNING DAVID IT'S THURSDAY IT'S UNBELIEVABLE ABOUT THE GAS,GROCERIES, ELECTRIC, GAS, I CAN'T AFFORD ANYTHING ANYMORE I'M UNDER SSDI AND IT'S UNREAL HOW THERE'S NO EXTRA MONEY TO BUY FOOD AND PUT ENOUGH GAS PAY BILLS ECT.. I'M CONFUSED? IF THEY'RE GOING TO SEND ANYTHING FOR SSDI?
There have been plenty of times when I have to put groceries back because I don't have the money for them and now they want to cut what little bit we get that's unamerican and just greedy and selfish.
My Husband & I are both on SS Benefit's that is our sole Income we depend on Monthly. We have to Budget our Income after paying our Bill's, stretch whatever we have left to last until the next Month. Thank God that we are getting the extra help for Food Stamp's. If not we would be hurting to buy Food, they need to keep helping us Monthly. With everything going up Gas, Food price's are rising constantly. Everytime they give the Recipient's (SS) a Raise they raise the Cost of Medicare Premium. So we really don't get much of a raise, cause it's taken in our Premium. We need more of the Stimulus Assistance, to be able to get us through these trying time's. Thank U
Also we can't afford to pay our Deductible's when we see the Specialist. We are both needing Exam's that Cost way too much so we just don't get them done. Due to not having the fund's to cover the Cost. We are needing to get new Glass's, but can't afford it either.

When you get a raise on SSi they go up on your rent and down on food stamps so unless they change that rule the raise will not really help them at all except the ones that are luck enough to not have to rely on public housing and food stamps
Wait until we see what the COLA raise is for 2023. They are predicting it will be the highest one that has ever been given. We'll see.

No, I have not had to put things back but I've had to go back to work because the cost of the meds. Medicare does not pay for the only prescription med that I use. My check is about 650 the cost of this med is 3000 of which I have to pay 300. If I get the $170 back from Medicare. I can but the same med else where for $175 a month.
i receive SSDI and am dealing with our home being foreclosed. My child and I were hoping to live in an RV on property owned by our family only to be told we will have to move our RV to a mobile home park to live and have to come up with a larger sum of money every month for the lot ect. rent. This is craziness!

The stimulus money that was reluctantly paid out to we the American people , to me was hush money to pacify the people while cooperations and politicians were the biggest beneficiaries of any of these relief bills that was passed !
I'm on ssi and I have to use my credit to be able to get by for the month so I'm just barely getting by if I didn't have credit cards or putting my daughter taking from my daughter family I wouldn't make it

The raise would be nice, but my husband and I get food stamps and extra help with SOME of our meds, we would lose all that because we would make to much money. Right now we barely survive on $1940 a month we are $20 below the amount allowed to get $48 in FS a month for 2 people, when we got COLA our landlord raised the rent. With the raise in SSDI, SS ect.the amount of income allowed needs to go up some too.
Same here. My husband gets extra help with his medical, and our disabled adult son gets snap, that $200 would hurt them both more than help. Many will lose benefits of this passes. Also out rent will increase by $100 a month. So we could end up with less a month.
This is what I've been trying to tell everyone. There are pros and cons to everything. Many could lose whatever benefits they are now getting, especially if there is a high COLA in addition to this SS raise.
The know you should not be pending the bottom line have to be raised in order to the increase on social security works if not it will not make any sense

Hi David, I really appreciate your reporting on the news as it relates to social security reform. I’m thinking about Senator Mitt Romney and his response to Senator Bernie Sanders plan for seniors. Bernie has been the champion of senior people. Senator Romney has no solution, other than we will take a look at social security reform and get back to you. In my mind there will be little or no bipartisan support from the republicans. Don’t wait for republicans response, bring it to the floor now. Get a roll call ASAP.
Never in my life have I ever had to go for help for medicine or to pay my bills till now. We need someone in the white house that will fight for people on social security ssi and VA with everything going up its only getting harder to make a living

I understand because the same situation happen to me and I am a veteran,also a discharge city worker who put in 25yrs of hard work in the water division and Wastewater division. I admit I made some mistakes but money I use to make was ok but everything is expensive in San Diego California for if your trying to survive on ski it can be embarrassing thank God for snap program for a man or I don't think I can survive
The Government should be taking care of their veterans. They are good enough to fight for our freedom and willing to give up their lives to keep us and others free but not good enough be taken care of??? This makes me so angry!!
