I totally agree these are the cons of getting a cavapoo. We were aware of the grooming and the separation anxiety before we got ours but the picky eating was a real shock. Olive is gorgeous and has a very sweet face 🥰
Our Cavapoo is about a year and a half old. He never barks, he is super quiet, and loves to cuddle, he’s super smart, and overall a great dog. The negatives for him are that he always has to be by us. Sometimes we put him in the kitchen behind a gate so our two year old can eat without him trying to steal her food, and he hates it. He also won’t eat while we are at work. He waits for us to get home and then he eats. So I definitely agree with the anxiety thing. He absolutely loves every single person he comes across and doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. So I’m glad we have him in our family.
I have an F1 cavapoo (50% cavalier 50% poodle) and he has a loosely wavy coat. It’s fluffy but not curly. He doesn’t require any brushing and never mats up. He only needs a bath and a quick trim at the groomer. My baby boy is spunky and so full of love.
I’m getting a fur-pal cavoodle pup soon and this really helped me!!! Especially, getting a pup for the first time! Luv your channel and I bet olive will be a star in Broadway! 😊 KEEP BEING YOU OLIVE! KEEP BEING ADORABLE!
I have my cavapoo for five years now. I am not diligent on brushing, she also does not like it, but I take her for grooming. She is so cuddly and a great companion. She learns very well but has a mind of her own. I did not consider the life span when I got her as a pup. I was 69. I worry that when I’m gone, if I out live her, will someone care for her like me. My fur baby is not a picky eater and will probably eat everything in sight so I don’t give her table food. The bottom line is, cavapoos are great pets and bring a lot of love to your life.
I have a Cavoodle and although she is a lot of work and has required a lot of medical care over the years, I wouldn’t change her for the world. The loving nature of these dogs is wonderful.
This video basically explained every single feature of my cavapoo lol. Very correct and reliable for anyone who wants a cavapoo. Trust me, probably one of the best decisions I have ever made was to get a dog.

I have a cavashan, I would not agree with these video because they may be a lot to take care of but you will get very attached. I’ve had my dog for 8 months and she’s already the light of my life I don’t know what I would do without her
I have a 7 year old male cavapoo and wouldn’t be without him. He was a picky eater in the early years but now is very greedy and it’s hard to keep his weight down. He is very needy but is used to being left at home and will chill out on our bed but is alway very enthusiastic on our return. The main issue is going on holiday as he only likes to go to our in-laws. I find regular hair cuts mean he doesn’t get too matted and negates the need for too regular grooming. Olive is so cute and very relaxed with grooming. My dog would not be so accepting
#1 reason to not consider a cavapoo is because of high rate of heart murmurs in Cavaliers. My Max, a cavapoo, was SO amazing but I had to watch his stress level on walks, especially hills, in the heat even at a young age he let me know when he needed to rest. He passed in March from congestive heart failure. Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY. He was so, so special. Highly recommend you keep her thick coat much shorter #7 in summer. #4 in winter and #10 blade for underside. trim very short around neck, under armsand at base of tail. Many things you describe are true for many breeds. No dog likes to be alone; the pack is suppose to stay together. My Max sat at the window too but was not destructive nor did he bark or whine when left. Honestly, my dachsund is a much bigger challenge now that Max is gone and he lost his big brother. Cavapoos are smart, sweet, gentle dogs with low exercise needs.
@@ash-oy6zi I’m not a vet, however from my knowledge it’s important to get some health history from the breeder on the parents. They are absolutely gorgeous and special little dogs and it’s so sad they can suffer from this.
Really good tips here! Before we got our Cavapoo we didn't realise how fussy of an eater he was! We find he eats half of a portion in the evening, goes outside to do his business, then comes back for more, if he leaves anything, he'll finish it in the morning! He also won't eat treats unless it contains cheese or peanut butter lol
These are spot on! Here's what we do... We take our cavapoo to the groomer regularly. Our groomer is located in a doggie daycare in our city so when we are going to be away for more than a couple hours we take him there to play with his doggy friends. Finally, we found a dry food our dog would actually eat. He likes the cesar dry dog food. Our little guy has a sensitive stomach so he can't do wet dog food.
Thank you for all this info. When we are ready to adopt another dog we want to be armed with the best knowledge about everything we can beforehand. Your video helped a lot.
Number 1: yessssss we have to do this with Lumi our cavapoo Number 2: yeah Lumi loves being with her family and she will sit at the window like that too!!! When we get home she is doing that too!! She runs to us every time! Number 3: yes Lumi is picky we have to do a food topper too!!! I love Olive!! I am sure Lumi and her would be friends if they ever met each other!!
I agree with the brushing part of this video, as for the rest of the video it’s all nonsense ALL dogs don’t like to be left on there own, it just takes a bit of training, you go out for a couple of minutes then come back your dog will soon learn that you are always going to come back do this for a while steadily increasing the amount of time you go out, this is not rocket science it’s standard training. As for the food if your dog is hungry it will eat by offering incentives to eat all you are doing is training your dog to be fussy, the person making this video obviously doesn’t know anything about dogs, everything I have explained is very simple dog training anyone with any knowledge of dogs would know this. As for any poos they make great pets, they are loving, fun dogs who are quite easy to live with
Wow, my Cavapoo (1.5 years old) has all of these behaviors! However we have her groomed with her hair short to avoid the matting issue. She has got better at being left home alone. The longest has been 6 hours and she did sit by the window most of the time however she did not mess in the house. She has cat brothers to give her some company. She is an awesome LOVING puppy.
I'm thinking of getting a Cavapoo but we both work full time, I'm worried about separation anxiety, do you think it's something they get used to? Hope you don't mind me asking? We don't have any other pets to keep them company if we do get one, thank you 😊
@@zarajenkins6948 Honestly I don't know. our Cavapoo seems to be getting better every time we go out but all she has know is us home full time. I wish you the best. They are fantastic companion dogs!

Is it just me or do I not have any of these problems? I have a tri-coloured cavapoo and I love to brush him, he loves it too! He doesn’t have separation anxiety and in the evening he loves to go in to the front room with the lovely fire on by himself and sleep beside the fire for an hour and then comes back. He’s great but I do think this is an amazing video and really highlights some of the problems that are very common with this breed!
U are very lucky! Olive is fine when we're home but it's when we leave her her anxiety builds up😔. Working on it though! Hopefully she'll get as comfortable as your dog soon🙏 thanks for sharing! 🐾

F1= first generation hybrid dog with purebred parents(e.g cavalier king charles x poodle= cavapoo), the b= back-cross,, which means a f1 hybrid dog is mixed with a purebred (e.g. cavapoo x poodle) resilting in stronger poodle traits, curly fur, etc🤗🐾
*Gets one anyway* and yes Teddy (My dog) gets sad of being alone even I try to distract with toys but he still cries for my mum and stepdad not being there and yes my dog is very fussy, just like I was when I was younger 😂
my cavy will not eat food. she drags her bowl around the house before eating it. I put it on top of a can for while. she would knock off the kibble and then chase it. I dont know about cavapoos, but my cavy still likes to suppliment her kibble with life food she harvests in the backyard.
@@TheTbabylati well u stop it by, on day one when you get the puppy (or you can start now, even if you’ve had the dog for a while) is to crate train first and foremost! (Rachel Fusaros Crate training videos are what I use) then once they are comfortable with the crate, put them in the crate for small periods of time everyday, gradually increase the time to about and 1 hour, never go longer than about 2-3 hours. Keep in mind all dogs need alone time, not as a punishment but as a beneficial time! Remember to never use this as a punishment and always reward with treats, praise or play. All dogs will have some time of separation anxiety if you leave them for VERY long periods of time. But if you do these tips they will be way more independent!
OMG MY 5 MONTH OLD CAVAPOO IS JUST LIKE THIS!! For example, he's even picky even with treats. Our doorman/vet/groomer always tries to entice him with treats and I have to awkwardly warn them that he will have no interest whatsoever in their "treat" lol.
@@dianeschildgen6794 yes i know thats why she explained brushing the dog in the video. I didn't mean that you shouldn't brush your dogs fur, i meant brushing your cavapoo shouldn't be a reason not to get one
My F1 cavapoo gets a haircut every 8 weeks my boy also gets left alone at times he does look out the window but is fine getting left alone nothing gets chewed or no toilets on my floor and for eating wow he is not fussy will literally eat anything he’s crazy but again every dog is different
One of the biggest con is finding ethical breeders as they are a mixed breed and most breeders of such designer mixes are backyard breeders or puppy farmers
I was about to decide to buy a Cavapoo until the breeder told me that the puppy parents are a Cavapoo and a mini poodle. Isnt it supposed to be both Cavapoo?? Is it health safe to have parent mixed like that??
hello! Thanks for your question~ from what i know mixed-breed dogs are generally healthier than purebred dogs b/c purebred dogs have a limited gene pool and risk passing along genetic disorders from generation to generation. A cavapoo mix with a mini poodle just means the puppy is a "F1b" cavapoo. Olive is a "F1" cavapoo since she is a mix of pure cavalier and poodle. The genetic marker(F1/F1b/F2/etc) is often used among doodles to depict the parents and its different generations. So depending on the marker some dogs have a more wavy flatter and longer coat whereas other might have a more curly looking coat. Hope that helps💙
@@OliveJoa thanks for your answer. Finally will have my Cavapoo puppy this next weekend. Her parents are a Cavalier and poodle. Just cant wait to give her hugs and kisses
Not all cavapoo coats are the same. At the length your dog's coat is, my F2 dog's coat doesn't tangle. He gets brushed maybe once every two weeks. My mom's cavapoo has a much straighter coat, and doesn't tangle at that length. My dog is not a picky eater at all. My mom's dog can be.
I have a cavoodle and none of theses things relate to him. He has only got matted once and slicker brushes really work well. ( he is almost 8 months old. ) My dog doesn’t have any signs of separation anxiety. First few days we stayed home with him and them whilst we were at school he was at home with my mum who is working all the time. No way is my dog a picky eater, he eats anything you in front of him.
WE had the best ca in the world for 18 years and w had to brush her twice a day! She was a Norwegian Forrest Ct and so very smart and beautiful! We loved her so much and still miss her and had her for 18 yrs. She would not be left alone long either and we knew she loved us and would worry about us and would be waiting at the door or n the middle of the room. We had her for 18 yrs. Once a year she did go to the groomers and got washed and also cut like a Lion! ( so cute) and she was proud and strutted around. I could talk to her about "everything" and I swear she knew just what I meant. Ee certainly do miss her so much but afraid now that we are in early 70's e may not live 18 more yrs and if we did have a BABY for 18 yrs we do not know who would take her so it worries us and yet I and My husband want her with us but we are getting older. We own our home and have a nice yard but our cat stayed inside. But apartments * if we ended up there* do not always take animals. But we understand the matting and we did not like it so much, but am sure neither did our BABY. We had to sometimes cut them out too. She wanted to be brushed and loved every minute of it! lol
i have my second cockapoo they are amazing amazing dogs and never mated, ,the most smart and lovy dovey pet ever friendly and become truly your best friend, never anxiety issues,,being eating the same food for 10 years weird review here
Knots becomes mats which are uncomfortable for dogs, and if worsened it can cause skin irritation and sores since it blocks air flow in the hair and traps moisture. 🤗🐾
As far as matting, this type of dog needs grooming! Poodles need regular grooming! And your pooch as cute as he or she is her hair is too long and needs to be clipped. If a dog is hungry they will eat, just be sure to give them a good quality food. But I have to say I love that play toy, and would love to get one for my little !
My Cavoodle doesn't really get knots. Shes not really curly which is surprsing to other Cavoodles i've seen. Her hair is long and wavy but shes still adorable. But the seperation anxiety is a big problem for me. when my mum leaves my Cookie (my cavoodle) will howl and whimper for hours until my mum gets back its really sad
I adopted a Cavapoo! She has been the greatest delight in dog ownership I have ever had. I would adopt them again and again!

my cavy will not eat food. she drags her bowl around the house before eating it. I put it on top of a can for while. she would knock off the kibble and then chase it. I dont know about cavapoos, but my cavy still likes to suppliment her kibble with life food she harvests in the backyard.
🤣loll she harvests her own food? What a smart dog😆
All dogs have separation anxiety especially if u were with them all the time as pups
How do you stop that?
Wonder what they want..🤔 hehehe
can you provide the link to the best mat removers please. Thank you
How much does olive weigh (I love your videos)
thank you! Olive is about 12 lbs🐾
Ok thank you so much
Is Olive an F1 or F1b cavapoo? May I get your breeder’s information please? Thank you 🙏
Olive is an f1🤗🐾
She’s so cute I-
🐶🙏💕
I have a cavapoo and who cares if they get mats and are clingy, They are the worlds best dogs and everyone should have one (in my opinion.) :)
Mats hurt the pup when it pulls constantly on the skin.
@@dianeschildgen6794 yes i know thats why she explained brushing the dog in the video. I didn't mean that you shouldn't brush your dogs fur, i meant brushing your cavapoo shouldn't be a reason not to get one
@@rosed9903 i see what you mean now. Thanks
Olive !
I love you!!
Thank you🥰🐶
Oh my dog may as well be a cavopoo if we give me a different rice that we would normally give him he’d be like
…😡😡😡
How true your video is, our Ted looks & acts identical, he will be 1 year on Aug 24th🦮👍❤️
Thank u! Still on the search to find the right kibble~😅
My F1 cavapoo gets a haircut every 8 weeks my boy also gets left alone at times he does look out the window but is fine getting left alone nothing gets chewed or no toilets on my floor and for eating wow he is not fussy will literally eat anything he’s crazy but again every dog is different
He sounds like a healthy boy! 8 wks and no separation anxiety wow!🙏
No he’s nearly 3 years old gets a haircut every 8 weeks lol
I wish I knew of a cavapoo dog breeder. Do you know of any?
unfortunately we don't😮💨
Is it okay for a cavapoo in flat?
it may vary by places but here it is fine🤗🐾
Wonderful video so true!
Glad you think so!🙏🏻🐾
I love Olive !
we 💜 her too :-)
Would love to find better puzzle feeders for our havapoo! Where'd you find that one?
Thank u for the interest! we got ours from amazon, link is in the description of the video🤗🐶
One of the biggest con is finding ethical breeders as they are a mixed breed and most breeders of such designer mixes are backyard breeders or puppy farmers
My hair is curly, so I'm used to having to comb curly hair. 😂😂
ooh lucky I've always wanted naturally curly hair🎀
Little olive joa you have wonderful parents who love you so much you lucky girl.
We're sooo blessed she came into our lives💓
@@kare7714 congratulations that’s so exciting!🎈
Do you have a link to where you can get that food toy?
Just added in the description section🤗🐾
Not all cavapoo coats are the same. At the length your dog's coat is, my F2 dog's coat doesn't tangle. He gets brushed maybe once every two weeks. My mom's cavapoo has a much straighter coat, and doesn't tangle at that length. My dog is not a picky eater at all. My mom's dog can be.
What I would do to have my daughter’s cavapoo. The sweetest boy ever.
dogs are ❤️
I have a maltipoo
😆👍
I have a cavoodle and none of theses things relate to him. He has only got matted once and slicker brushes really work well. ( he is almost 8 months old. ) My dog doesn’t have any signs of separation anxiety. First few days we stayed home with him and them whilst we were at school he was at home with my mum who is working all the time. No way is my dog a picky eater, he eats anything you in front of him.
Wow so lucky~!
Very cute video, thanks!
Thanks for watching!
She wanted to be brushed and loved every minute of it! lol
I have a cavoodle and we nanes her Millynand now she is 2 months
That's a cute name! 2 months she must be a darling🥰
Just bought one this week 9 weeks old we called her milly she's adorable 😍 ❤
Shes gorgeous i have 4 maltipoo 🐶🐶🐶🐶
4?? Wow that's a lot of love🎵
What do you all do when you go to work?
Since the pandemic we've both been working from home full time so Olive has been with us pretty much all the time🐾
i have my second cockapoo they are amazing amazing dogs and never mated, ,the most smart and lovy dovey pet ever friendly and become truly your best friend, never anxiety issues,,being eating the same food for 10 years weird review here
Great!
Olive is precious 💕 just wondering if Olive's coat shade has visibly changed since ours is starting to💕
It's gotten a bit lighter but not alot~~🤗
Is this cavapoo a toy cavapoo or a normal one?
Olive is a toy cavapoo,, what is a normal one 🤔?
@@OliveJoa im not sure! I heard someone talk about a "normal" one before and I assumed its bigger maybe? If so I still prefer a toy cavapoo
I have a cockapoo and she easy if she suffer from anxiety I give her calming chews but I do agree they are picky with food
cockapoos are picky eaters too. Sometimes it really gets on my nerves lmao
And the whole brushing and grooming thing goes to cockers mix as well
So what if it knots ? The dog does not care
Knots becomes mats which are uncomfortable for dogs, and if worsened it can cause skin irritation and sores since it blocks air flow in the hair and traps moisture. 🤗🐾
MY BEST FRIENDS DOG HAS SEPERATION ANXIETY AND LOOKS DEPRESSED CUZ ITS ALWAYS ALONE 😭
oh no..:-( perhaps a little playtime and some walks outside will help🥺?
As far as matting, this type of dog needs grooming! Poodles need regular grooming! And your pooch as cute as he or she is her hair is too long and needs to be clipped. If a dog is hungry they will eat, just be sure to give them a good quality food. But I have to say I love that play toy, and would love to get one for my little !
Olive is very, very good !💖🦄👍
My Cavoodle doesn't really get knots.
Lucky u! Olive used to have wavy fur when she was little, now she's a curly😅💕
