Congratulations on having your beautiful artwork on such a prestigious art brand, a really great swatching video, so satisfying & relaxing to watch. I had heard about Derwent releasing a watercolour pan range but I just assumed it was going to be their fantastic Inktense range in pan form.....but I am glad that these are standalone watercolours in their own right and I will definitely be buying these. Derwent is such a trustworthy and a high quality brand that I've never had any problems with, they always produce great products. I'm guessing if these watercolours are a big success then they probably will release more colours.....OOPS I'd better go, my Credit Card has just had a nervous breakdown!! That is the confusing part. According to the colour wheel colours that are between yellow and red-violet are warm and yellow-green to violet are cool colours. But within the cool colours you have some that are closer to purples and some towards green. So although Ultramarine is within the cool half of the colour wheel, it’s a warmer cool tone. So a Cerulean or Cobalt Blue technically would be a true cool tone then as we go back up to the greens a turquoise is that warming up again. Like yellow-green is outside of warm colours yet closest to the warm, so it still is warm but technically cool. 😅 Hope it makes sense. 🧡
Which white gouache do you prefer for mixing and highlights? Zinc white or Titanium white? Lovely selection of colors in the Derwent palette! Your cover art looks beautiful on the package!
Very unique colors. Beautifully transparent. Do they list the pigments? I noticed the ultramarine did not granulate at all, nor did any others. Are they listed as professional ? Beautifully done swatching!
I emailed Derwent to ask about the pigments in the Watercolour set and they replied that they do not give out their pigment information which is a little bit disappointing. I am not sure why they would not share it.

It’s more of a fun type of a watercolour with the benefit of being made with fine art quality pigments. Derwent watercolours do not granulate as they were intentionally designed to be super smooth and vibrant, no streakiness or weak colours. And they are meant to be lightfast! 🧡 +Forgot to mention, there is no lightfast scale rating, pigment/binder info. 🧡
It doesn’t say whether it’s student or artist grade, just that it is made with fine art quality pigments and that they are lightfast. They are super smooth and vibrant from what I have experienced. Comparing to other student grade watercolours these are not streaky or grainy or weak in colour like some others I tried over the years. Generally in artist grade watercolours you have a lightfast scale and pigment info and binder info. So based on that I would say they are more of a student grade watercolour but aimed at beginners and experienced artists who just want to have a fun painting session not taking things too seriously outdoors or in their lovely sketchbooks at home . ☺️🧡

I thought ultramarine was a warm tone blue, and the green leaning blues were cool.
