Really nice build ! I went to 20" rows for corn and beans about 12 years ago and took an 8 row 30" planter and cut it down to a 6x30" frame and moved everything around to make it an 8x20". There are AC IH JD parts on the planter and it works great. When your a small farmer money is tight so you make things work no matter what color it is to get the job done. Sometimes the books are great but a lot of times you got to do your own math to figure things out. Keep up the great work ! Bandit
That is a nice setup. Like you said if you get some brush meters it'll be even better. Then you could count revolutions of the meter per tire revolution to really get a precise population.
i have built a planter looks a lot like yours kept the factory transmission worked perfect 2 years dicamba seed 140000 per ackerchanged to enlist 250000 per acker changed sprocket still 2 times too many

That is some fine engineering. I hope to build a plot planter when I can find a used set of planters.
Great video!

It would improve the stand a bunch I feel and be way more accurate
This planter came together very nicely. How difficult was the air system to rig up?
It’s probably the easiest thing in the planter bags are direct bolt on then the compressor is a kit I bought on Amazon
Nice job looks like it was a lot of math
It was but a very rewarding project in the end hopefully next video will be it in action. The beans are up and looking awesome
Great build! Hope bean prices stay high past harvest.
Me too I’ve got the most in the ground on our farm ever
Nice build. How have you figured out how to split the drives to shut off half the planter.
I’ve not got that done yet but I was thinking an air clutch on some sort of a switch
