Great project. Simple, practical, economic. Like others suggested I put rubber feet on bottom and rubber film on steps. It does help. I also put 1" raised edges on sides of the top step so my granddaughters can 'feel' where the edge is. I also increased the height 1" for sooner access to the taps. Thanks for the design! You have a very cute daughter! Well done!
I don't know what it is about your videos, but I find myself going back and re watching all of them. I really like the simplicity and your projects are always so useful. And I have gained alot of knowledge about self sufficiency from your videos. Great work! I can't wait for more uploads!
+Michael Bragg Thanks so much Michael! That really means a lot:) My hope is that others might learn a bit from a video or get inspired to create their own ideas of projects they want to accomplish. I'm no expert in anything, but i do love to create things and I'm glad that they've been helpful to you:) Thank YOU so much for watching and the nice words! Joe
Precious child, I remember when mine were that age; I see that being used by Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren one day, if he tarries... Have a Blessed one Joe!
CGLouisiana Thanks CG! She seems to get cuter by the day!! Just trying to enjoy every minute with her during these years where she still thinks Daddy is awesome! Joe
TOOOO Cute everyone needs to watch this for a few really great smiles brought to each of us by that precious young girl. I would like to purchase the plans even as simple as they are I know it took some time to draft them up
Thank you that's what i was looking for all other videos there's to much machine work and i don't have all those tools ,your plan is a lot simple and does the same Work,(i like the open space of your backyard that's my dream of a home )God bless you and your family.
Scott Ferguson Cool! I'd love to see what you come up with... and if you'd be okay with it, I might just include it into a future segment about viewers projects:) Talk to you later, Joe
Suburban Plantation Thanks Marc! I feel super blessed!!! How's the weather up there? And the bee project? You guys are probably getting into some beautiful temps now! Joe
Cute girl, my 7 year old granddaughter just had a brain tumor removed Tuesday so our lives got turned upside down. Great to see you kicking out theses projects you know what they say ( if the women can't find you handsome at least they can find you handy ) haha! 😃
my2cents0 Thanks M2C's... she's got me wrapped around her little fingers for sure! So sorry to hear about your granddaughter. I pray that the operation went smoothly and her recovery is going well:) Our prayers will be with you guys! Joe
+MotherOfManyHorses Yes, I love that video soooo much! And you are right... she's not on her toes anymore... growing up too fast... trying to enjoy it while she still thinks daddy is cool! Joe
Excellent video of a wonderful creation that you have every right to be proud of (oh, and the step stool is pretty cool, too)! I suggest that you put some non-slip pads or similar on the feet of the step stool. Otherwise, as she leans forward, she could push the step stool away from the flat vertical surface (e.g., the bathroom cabinet) and fall.
homesteadonomics Thinking more about it, there still may be a problem. If the stool is prevented from slipping backwards, it may fall over backwards when she leans forward. It all depends on the force she is able to exert to PUSH the entire stool backwards versus the force (torque) she is able to exert to TIP the top of the stool backwards. Preventing the backward slippage of the stool actually increases the amount of force she can exert to TIP the stool backwards. In the best of all worlds, you'd need to have a non-slip base PLUS a sufficiently deep (i.e., in the direction perpendicular to the vertical surface she leans against) base that prevents tipping. You need to determine for yourself if that dimension is adequate to preclude her being able to tip it, both now and later as she gains weight and strength. Sorry about being such a "Safety Sally", but, IMO, our kids are too precious to allow any unnecessary and avoidable risks to their safety.
Peter K. So true and great tips! I'm going to have to rethink some design features, especially as she gets older. Now you got me thinking about another stool design:) Thanks Peter!
Wait till she's a teenager and her potential boyfriends why you clean your weapons on Friday night... and Saturday night... or whenever they just happen to drop by...
I dated a cop's daughter in HS.. I thought that he always cleaned his gun on Friday night.. till we skipped a Friday and went out Sat.. I remember him looking down and rotating the removed gun barrel.. making sure it was clean... :)
Super cute video!!Love the simple design of the stool.I was curious on how you mounted those F style clamps on your bench. That is something new ive never seen.Maybe a quick tip video??
Abel Nieto Thanks Abel! I actually I do have a video on that... it's my 'harbor freight festtool clamp hack" video.... here is the link ua-cam.com/video/kmnkq9GEiTg/v-deo.html Joe
weetreebonsai haha... believe it or not I actually put a little homemade ladder by her bedroom light switch and she loves it but I mounted it to the wall so it's no much good for anything else. You can actually see it when she turns down the hall towards the bathroom... like 3:52 mark or there abouts;)
Canadian Sasquatch Brewery haha... very true... she's already starting to be able to grab it but just not well enough to pivot the handle... just yet;)
if you glue pieces of rubber to the bottom of the steps it would be better ,so they don't slip when a child is climbing up on them or over reaching for things as kids do. just an idea.
yack f zay definitely good ideas:) If I make any modifications when she gets bigger it'll probably be that top step..thanks for watching and commenting:)
Love the stool, the end is the best! So adorable, little girls (and boys) just light up our lives!

Anytime dude! Thanks very much :) my channel is slowly getting there! Just need the college year to end so i can carry on with my videos! :)
Growing so quick.. she won't need that stool long.... :)
+Randy Rought haha... that's what scares me... growing too fast!
Wait till she's a teenager and her potential boyfriends why you clean your weapons on Friday night... and Saturday night... or whenever they just happen to drop by...
+Randy Rought hahaha... so true, every dad's right of passage:)

Awesome man your a step ahead of me!I guess you made that video before I subscribed!!And the neat thing is I already own those exact clamps!!
Good job Dad
Awesome thank you
Did you use your tablesaw in this project?
T As I think i did on the foot steps to keep them the same width but for the rest of it I used the circular saw. Hope that helps:)
Joe
Hmmm maybe a light switch extender next ;-)
weetreebonsai haha... believe it or not I actually put a little homemade ladder by her bedroom light switch and she loves it but I mounted it to the wall so it's no much good for anything else. Great video! And now you need an extender for those taps... just oooh sooo close! (= Cheers!
Canadian Sasquatch Brewery I'm thinking in about three months or so she won't need any extenders. :)
Blackberry Hideout That is true! (=

just an idea.
Great idea! thanks so much and thanks for watching Tony:)
Joe
What a cutey..
Tom Pritchard I think so for sure Tom! Thanks for watching:)
Joe
It seem a bit small. Making the last step a little wider. Look like she's about to fall. Since I'm not there in person. Its just perfect.
yack f zay definitely good ideas:) If I make any modifications when she gets bigger it'll probably be that top step..thanks for watching and commenting:)
You welcome
so cute and so beautiful girl
+yehia yousif Thanks so much! She's my little angel:)
Joe
