    I have made 2 of these and enjoyed doing it Instead of art work I used a router and stencils to carve their name in the top of it , The Grand kids use them all the time . Thank you for the video and the plans .

    My wife said she likes how the writing looked when it bled through. I agree...it looked cool!

    nice work! I ran into the same problem putting paper into epoxy. A quick solution is adding a layer of mod podge to the paper to seal it. It work really well. keep it up!

      +Heath Knuckles thanks Heath! Also, who would you recommend for a pressure pot? Finally dipping my toes in epoxy stuff, it is fun!

      Looks like I missed your response. Oops! Here's the PP I use: www.californiaairtools.com/air-tools-accessories/pressure-pots/365b-5-gal-pressure-pot/ I had to do a small mod on the pot before I could use it. Zac Higgins (NV Woodworks) uses a different brand (CA Technologies) of PP. If you need any help... let me know. Thanks Johnny!

    Hi From North Yorkshire, UK.
    This is a nice project..could you make a video doing this project with hand tools and fix us an idea of how long it would take. A rough calculation of your power tool set up extends to about £5k!!! And this is a great project for your average dad in his garage. Cheers

    Pretty cool I think I'm going to build one from solid cherry. Love the design. Also you asked to hassle you enjoy using for hand tools. USE HAND TOOLS ON YOUR NEXT PROJECT! 😃

    Nice build, and great timing! My kids need something like this now to reach their sink. If you use something other than maple plywood, do you think there would be a huge difference between the color of the finished epoxy and the stain on the rest of the stool?

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  7 років тому +1

      +OriginalAxepack great! No, I think most woods will probably work fine here!

  • @irishannie66

    You probably won't see this considering it's been 3 yrs since you made this video but....... Scan and print the artwork on white waterslide paper, trim around and follow directions to apply it. Once dry, epoxy :) perfect transfer !

    I know it's late but if you do something like that again you can cover the art with mod-podge before the epoxy. Should help with the bleed though

    Great build. Simple and fun.
    Unrelated: What video editing software do you use? It's infinitely more professional than my own.
    I didn't see any videos on how you make your videos on your channel that discuss equipment, etc. maybe an idea for a down week. I'd love to see it
    Thanks
    Andy

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  7 років тому

      Thanks Andy! And yea, I think a camera gear/editing info video for the second channel might be warranted at some point. I use Final Cut Pro X, been using it for many years and it does way more than I need. I tried to get a little fancy with color grading in this video, hoping to continue that trend in future videos. Just a ton of work!

    Nicely made Johnny 👍, I loved your shop tour recently as well, I've just made my first videos & would appreciate any tips you may be able to give out mate, I'm looking at making my editing better so if you have any pearls of wisdom please let me know, cheers from Australia 🍻👍

      +Sumo's Projects thanks a lot, appreciate it! The best way to improve your editing is to do more of it. Producing weekly videos definitely helps! Lynda.com and other similar resources are great for learning the technical skills. Hope that helps!

    just a simple remark: the filter on your respirator is for dust particles only, for chemical and fumes you have a different filter

    Wouldn't the epoxy top be slippery to stand on?

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  7 років тому

      +VampireOnline the edges of the paper floated up and make it pretty grippy.

    @jeffeberl12 7 років тому

    That's clever, but really? You are charging for these plans? Is it really your design? It looks like 1000 other step stool designs out there...

    • @craftedworkshop
      @craftedworkshop  7 років тому

      +Jeff Eberl I mean, yes it's a basic step stool. That said, I took the time to create a detailed SketchUp file, cutlist, and cutting diagram. Easy to figure out on your own based on the video and article, but some people like more details. $5 isn't really a lot to ask and help supports my future projects.

      Fair enough. It's your shop. I think I was a bit cranky when I watched it. Thanks for sharing.
