It's a good antenna and it will definitely get out! Going out in the morning, before the bands are crowded helps too, but I was getting really good signal reports with it.
very good Mike. love the video of the park ! NY has some great parks . I am in Boston NY .I have the IC 7300 and do POTA as well. the outher thing you can try with that 4:1 is try more ground plain. like 8 or 16 . also give the E Tune a try at 50 watts . I did that with a 9:1 and got England from NY on 10 meters SSB. was 2 months ago. I normally run 50% power or less portable to save on battery. still lots of contacts all over. I have to wind a 4:1 some day and give it a go. need to get some more ferrite cores . I use speaker wire from Walmart to test with .works great for portable . 73's
I love the E-Tune feature. As soon as I clipped on another set of four 17' radials, the SWR, which was below 3:1 on all bands but 20m, went wild. And then it never came back in line to where I could tune it. Go figure. I'll keep at it though. I"m going to try some different radial configurations and chokes. That said, the SWR is only a matter of convenience. Thanks for watching!!
No problem. When the weather clears up in a few days, I'll be trying some more things to see if I can get the SWR down closer to or below 3:1. But the antenna definitely gets out there!
Sorry to hear that, but I don’t think there’s anything I can do. UA-cam shows ads to all viewers unless of course they pay for UA-cam premium. I think the few exceptions are for livestreams and premieres.
@@MikeN2MAK there’s a way to view without ads by viewing/listening to them from the home screen. With that said there were no ads previously. Ads are why I DVR my favorite shows on TV. My opinion is that of I’m paying a fee to watch TV o should have to look at ads. Obviously nothing against you Mike.
@@truckinguy92 As far as I know, there's no way to stop UA-cam from showing ads, unless it's a livestream or premiere. I get it though. I'm looking forward to Hamvention and hopefully I'll see you out there again!
@@MikeN2MAK you didn’t see me out there. I’ve never been to the Xenia Hamvention. I refuse to call it Dayton since it’s no longer anywhere near Dayton any longer. It’s not even in the same county. Yeah I’m not sure how Tom does it but no matter how old his videos are they don’t have ads. I’ll still watch if your videos show up on the home page as they change almost any time I open UA-cam. 😊
Nice Job Mike! You always take a chance going QRP lol.

I've got one of these, different source.....still haven't had a chance to try it out......thanks for your video...very nice.
The Rybakov antenna is a great random wire. I hope yours works out well too!
Nice review Mike.
Thanks, Jim! I'm looking forward to your latest antenna project.
Great video, Mike!
It great to see what one can do with low power. Sooner or later I'm going to get one of those tuners for my IC-705.
Thanks! The tuner has worked out well for me. It’s definitely small and fits easily in the bag with the 705.

Sweet. I’ve been busy so when I get some time I’ll be seeing how my Poseidon gets out there too. Again appreciate you sharing the video!
Keep plugging, now I have to know the answer!
I will-once the rain stops, ugh.
#TeamReplay FTW
🌮🌮🌮
Mike - this will only work if you hang it from Poseidon’s trident. 🔱🧜♂
I'll need to see if the dingus it came with will fit on a trident, LOL
Don’t do ads so I’m unsubscribed. Really a shame, oh well.

K4SWL’s channel doesn’t have ads.
