EYEWITNESS lyrics:
You’re always an eyewitness to
Oh, all the change, all the change
Never feeling the pain
You’re never the one to speak up
Oh, keeping quiet, keeping quiet
With a god given right
You’re always the bridesmaid aren’t you?
Yeah, you’re the last to be asked
Never up to the task
You know when to keep your head down
Oh go along with the throng
And you can’t go wrong
Do as you’re told, don’t get involved
(Cos we’re gonna make it happen anyway)
Now take your meds and stay in bed
(It’s all going to happen to you anyway)
You’ll never be hoodwinked will you?
No, won’t decide, won’t decide
Never taking a side
You’re always an eyewitness true
Yeah, laying low, laying low
But you end up alone
Well the world outside it bites
And there and complications that you have no need to fight
(need to fight, need to fight)
And there’s a place where the future hides
(in every stranger’s eyes)
Bearing witnesses
You’re moving at the pace of drifting cloud
Giving nothing back
You’re hiding in plain sight among the crowd
Are you sick of waking up
To find the world just changed again?
(changed again, changed again)
And it’s got so bad that you can’t figure out
Where to lay the blame?
(lay the blame, lay the blame)
Pre-order the new album 'THE FUTURE BITES' - stevenwilson.lnk.to/TheFuture...
As a fan since Stupid Dream, let's talk about Steven Wilson. The prog/metalheads latched on to Porcupine Tree somewhere between Deadwing and Fear of a Blank Planet. Then he ditched metal and went full prog with Grace for Drowning and The Raven That Used to Sing, and the proggers latched onto that. He started falling out of favor with the proggers around Hand Cannot Erase and To the Bone. I'm not a big prog fan so I sat out that cycle knowing that he'll eventually get bored and move onto something else. Dude is not complacent. He makes whatever music he's interested in making at the time knowing that he'll probably lose some fans along the way, but he still does it. If you're not into what he's doing at any given time, just hang back for a couple of years and he'll be doing something different. That's what makes him great, even if as a fan I don't care for what he's doing. Personally, this new stuff is pretty out there even by his songwriting standards, but I'm digging it so far.
You pretty nailed it! :)
It's fine for an artist to change his style, and should be respected for doing so, but it's still Steven Wilson. He's always been diverse.
I would say that he is playing same thing around but with different arrangemnts...sound structure...delivering same ideas packed i varied ways...
Some songs from this new album reminds the style and atmosphere of the first Porcupine Tree era ("On the Sunday of Life", "Up the Downstairs", "The Sky Moves Sideways). Yes, these albuns were more "progressive/psychedelic", but they were also very influenced by electronic music. Also, his first solo album "Insurgentes" is very influenced by shoegaze, industrial and 80's electronic music. And, like you said, he's been changing gradually your sound since Hand.Cannot.Erase in the solo career. But my point is: for anyone who follow his career and notes the diversity of your music, this shouldn't be a surprise. It's legitimate to not like this new era because of your personal musical preferences, but i'm sick of the people who thinks they can determinate what an artist should ou shouldn't do in relation to your own music.
Except that the Raven DIDN'T use to sing! It refused to sing
A side: You gotta take your meds, get out of bed
B side: Take your meds and stay in bed
it is called narcolepsy :o
Plenty of 80s influences in this. Japan, Human League, Thompson Twins, Gary Numan, so many more.... Great stuff!!
Spot on… you can add Giorgio Moroder to that list too.
Not my fave era of Japan, but yes.
Richard Barbieri from Japan was a member of Porcupine Tree soo...
ABBA too
A bit of New Order too.
This is another song the SHOULD have been on the album. As much as I may like what’s been released, this has the edge the others lack.
I replaced Eminent Sleaze with Eyewitness in my TFB playlist. I love it! The same with In Pieces - which is actually even better imo!
@@JesperHellvik Great choice! I just listened to "In Pieces" on YT.....I love it! I completely agree....it belongs on TFB or even on the B-sides collection. Alas I was NOT able to buy the Deluxe TFB (sold out) and SW has yet, if ever, to make it available for purchase through any other means. :( Makes me sad......and then, I wonder what other tracks I am missing out. Double sad. :( :(
Well he spent a lot of time with Tangerine Dream remixes! !!
KG, if you liked it,

King ghost cover with a guitar solos, I just loved it. They added some PT flavours. You might love it
Ok 3 new tracks released under 30 seconds. Damn
This is gonna be my Go-to party track
For this New Year’s Eve
Never thought I’d say this about a Steven Wilson song. But change is good
ENERGYYY!!!
This is new music , this is good music
New music? Ha ha ha... 😂😂
to me, Steven has that when everytime he releases a new song, at the first listen, its like an experience. its almost surreal. it reminds me back when i was a kid and i had new music to listen to. its awesome lol
I wouldn't mind 19 minutes version of that released later on.
Why isn't this on the main album?
Because it's the B-SIDES of the album
@@NoNo-ro9gx well we can't judge the album until you've heard it in full, but I get the suspicion you'll be right, because this song is awesome
On a semi-related note, SW said in an interview that the album originally had 11 songs but someone convinced him to cut it to 9. I wonder if this was one of the extra songs on the original 11-track version.
@@samir_rod but...the album is apparently only 40 minutes or so and this song is absolutely smashing.
@@NoNo-ro9gx you wouldn't know if it suits or belongs there, stupid thing to announce pre-release
All great artist follow their heart. I love everything he does. From early days floydian psychedelia, progmetal, collaborations; No-Man, Storm Corrision, I.E.M. Steven W is huge in my eyes. I'm glad I have an open mind an ears. Keep your music coming brother, I follow you downunder upabove and everything between. May God be with you!
Love your thoughts.:)

King ghost cover with a guitar solos, I just loved it. They added some PT flavours. You might love it
That backing track is very Donna summer on steroids.
And Donna Summer was one of his frequently mentioned first loves. Makes sense that inspiration takes some form in an electronic heavy album session
It's absolutely fantastic.
Did Steven just drop the album outtakes before the album dropped??
He said it. Guitar doesn't inspire him anymore. I see the potential for a broad new audience and some of the old audience to embrace this new stage of Steven. Just wish he makes some rock again later on.
Where did he say it? Can we have a link?
@@nirc6501 I read an interview. Don't remember where
@@nirc6501 You can read the interview on ultimate guitar. Search 'ultimate guitar Steven Wilson interview' and it should come up. It was published November 4
@@nirc6501 he 100% said it during an interview about 3 weeks ago.
Personally I don't see the issue. Steven has always made very varied music, the guitars are only a part of the musical spectrum. I presume they will always play a part in his music, but it's more the identity and the stories that Steven conveys with his creativity that captivates me - not just his use of a single instrument. People seem so immature to me
Well, this is hands down my favorite song from the Future Bites album cycle so far.
Instead of judging too quickly, let it sink in. It's a really unique song!
'Really' unique? How does that work?
@@josephbennett4236 it depends if it works for you bro. Artists cannot please everyone all the time man
@@SocialAnimalJC I think you misunderstand my point. 'Really' unique is impossible. It either is, or it isn't.
This song sucks. I tried. The a sides are better but require time
@@NoNo-ro9gx were you just waiting for decades hoping he’d make music you like?
When just've thought I finally got over 80's synth pop, Steven pulls something like this. Well, here we go again...
Hahaha, true. But I love it 😁
I think this is better than anything I've heard of the new album so far.
This and KG. Both are amazing.

King ghost cover with a guitar solos, I just loved it. They added some PT flavours. You might love it
12 Things, Every Kingdom Falls and Hey Sleeper are great songs too
Espectacular Steve! Con muchas reminiscencias del pasado! Fantástica! Una canción para despertarse por la mañana!! 🔥🔥🔥
This is an authentic soundtrack to drive at the free way of Los Santos (GTA V). Love it!
Great surprise this song! 🦾
In the future official video I imagine Steven dressed in a fancy white suit, giving a lecture on philosophy to thousands of people.
Like Jordan peterson?
@@behindthen0thing525 Nope, Like Steven Wilson.
Yeah that makes sense
Hopefully people start waking up soon otherwise we will have a problem. Steven is definitely one of the smart people out there
SW please put this track in 5.1 on Blu-ray
He's up to Atmos
Always when I see a Steven's track, I smile and click on it with total assurance that it does not disappoint me.
Art, Satisfaction, Smile, Steven Wilson...
Ok now this is a happy day
Love this song like the many others
I really like this actually. It’s never going to be anywhere near as special to me as Raven or HCE but it’s good.

70s Disco vibes.
Yeah, it's a good blend between 70s Moroder-esque disco and 80s synthpop.
I'm feeling a Heaven 17 vibe on this one.
The sound of the future: "I Feel Love"
amazing
I just came here and saw it was released 3 hours ago. GOOD LUCK ON FOCUSING ON YOUR REMOTE WORK PPL
My god, this is like 1978-1982's The Cure, but with steroids and synths
yes;)))
Funnily, before I read this comment.. some of the wave elements in this track reminded me a bit of 83's Japanese Whispers
And not as good!
More and more 🙂 thank you SW 👍
Damn Steven, that synth sound is very well crafted. It sounds awesome.
I can't believe Eminent Sleaze got into the album and this track didn't
This is my favourite from the b sides collection
My fav too. This and king ghost. Love both of them.

As excited as I was to hear about the return of Porcupine Tree (and I am indeed stoked), I find myself more excited about Wilson's next solo project. Hopefully 2023! I just love the shifting sediment. This is the type of music that fundamentally shifted my music perspective to an open-mindedness I never foresaw.
i was a bit averse to it at first, but the more i listen to this new sw aesthetic the more i like it
I was never a really big fan of his ultra prog material that followed Insurgentes, so I am really pleased with this new direction.
We’re you just hoping that one decade he would put out something you liked?
Perfect 🥰
I'm surprised myself by how much I f**kin love this.
The bridge section got me
Best track so far!
Wooooow! Loved it!
SO. DAMN. GOOD.
I don't understand... Steven's making music pretty much NO ONE else is making and (some) people just want him to be stuck in prog rock forever. That's so pathetic.
But well, more delicious Steven music for the rest of us. 🤤
Maybe they just don't like this.
@@vapeymcvape5000And that would be completely fine. But demanding Steven to go back to prog style is just obnoxious.
Agree. Stevens new music is refreshing. In case People wanna listen to this with an old touch, there are always cover. Try this

Such a great track!
For a guy who doesn't rate himself as a guitar player (but as we all know is one of the best), this is a pretty good dance record.
Steve Wilson should've recorded the soundtrack for Cyberpunk 2077 ! This is amazing
Great rhythm and good vocals, I feel like dancing. LOL
I so love this. It's like the time is going backwards.
Love ❤️
When music, ideas and tone are in sync, can't say as much about the other tracks :)
love it
Wow, simply amazing.
I absolutely dig it!
💪🗣eres un genio!! 🧞♂️
Has a very early 1980s New Romantic feel to it.
Beautiful
Excellent.
Gotta love all the prog-rock fans complaining about Steven "selling out" and "becoming generic trash" while forgetting that 90% of all Prog bands and artists went through the same thing in the 80s. Ol' Steven is just keeping the traditions alive!
And He's been doing this stuff since the very begining, like cmon people! Do you really know Steven at all?
I love the early no-man stuff. It’s not the style but the songwriting that feels less compelling this time. I love 12 Things I Forgot though.
XXXL t-shirt King Crimson fans hate it
@@stevemuzak8526 I may be a guy with a Larks' Tongues in Aspic profile pic, but elitist KC fans absolutely deserve to be the butt of all anti-prog jokes (which is rich as hell, considering that they wrote stuff like Man with an Open Heart and Heartbeat in, guess what, the 80s [also, Beat good])
@@juankgonzalez6230 King Crimson fans are the snobbiest people I have ever met. Love the band but hate KC fans
Damn. I like it.
THIS IS GOOD
Synth Power 💚
Looks like Steven Wilson is listening to some early Electro Dark Wave, Post Punk and Krautrock. Sounds a LOT like early Clan Of Xymox, a bit like early The Mission and another bit like NEU! ...

If you love PT, here's a cover of the king ghost song in PT style with guitar solos :)
Since Insurgente there is post punk influences on SW ;)
This man does honest work.
Steven Wilson is the greatest musician in the world, thank you for that!
He is a sound master
This song has the cajones
Very cool!
That’s something special.
Casual listener, this is a bop
Nice. I love it. ;)))
I think there are way too many opinions flying around this... people forget to appreciate the amount of creativity, rather than whatever "genre" or "decade" it sounds like. And creativity and a massive amount of work went into these new things, and that definitely trumps opinion.
I can dig it
Glad to see that he still has an audience. Sad to say I'm not it.
I really like how you're respectful! Hopefully one day you'll find something worthy in this kinds of music, like I do
If thats the case why place a comment? 🤷♂️
@@peterprog9857 He likes to make me unhappy. How will he knows I am not happy if I don't comment? Do you consider this Prog Peter prog?
Some people just behave like little children when it comes to Steven's music. Little children whose parents don't wanna buy them THE TOYS THEY WANT SO SO MUCH!
Fan boys of Steven Wilson are like liberals who cry about Trump for four years. They can’t accept other people’s opinions.
I like his new stuff but a few of the new tracks require time to grow into them. I don’t hate this b side, but I can’t understand how anyone into Steven Wilson will make comments about how much they love it. He hasn’t put anything like this out unless with other bands, but the techno stuff with PT wasn’t even this.
I feel like I’m watching a really bad English movie with this soundtrack lol
Que viaje esta canción!!! Con un buen par de audífonos de cancelación de ruido, sientes que vuelas!!!
Masterpiece.
Steven meets Yaz meets Kraftwerk. The guy is pure genius.
Can't wait for his album after this one, where he finds his way again

This is amazing! I gotta drop the same comment 3 other places
That's a fucking trip to another planet 🙏🙏👏👏👏👏
I don't fucking care whether his new songs sound like his previous ones or not. He's Steven Fucking Wilson. I'll religiously listen to him even if he composed a nursery rhyme.
: just about time the 90s are the Thing...
So many people say: "Well, he just makes the music he wants to make". I don`t think so. When you release so much music and also do so many masterings there is always money in the back. I really don`t think that Wilson likes many of his new songs. Or do you think he would like them if someone else would have produced them?
Ahhhh, he composes from his heart, mind, soul, not his wallet.
❤❤❤❤
Try this;)
Just spreading love through music
