I absolutely adore how they focused on her character development more then the romance. To show her as a relatable character with hopes and dreams (ones she is trying to rebuild) first was such a bold and unusual move that payed off. And the romance bit?? They hit just the right notes to show that there was progress off screen. Those notes made it too believable when Jasper and Alva ended up as a happy, dorky couple. I loved this character. She perfectly played her role as the supporting character that was changed by Jasper's actions and helped Jasper change too.
Yeah. In a lesser film, she would have been just a token love interest, yet they really let her develop as a character. She started as bitter and world- weary, doing what she can just to leave; Then over time, she gradually regains her passion for teaching, and becomes a real force for good in her own light, aiding both the heroes (i.e. In the climax, learning about the bad guys' plot in time to warn Klaus) and the community as a whole (Her teaching the kids not just to write so they can write letters to Klaus, but a full variety of other subjects as well). And, as you said, we saw just enough of her budding romance with Jesper to know that it was happening.
I love how Alva develops this hard exterior and the instant kids start begging her to learn more, she immediately gets bright eyed and sheds that shell. She's a teacher at heart
its strange as an artist myself, I've done alot of fanart of Alva....gonna be cosplaying her in June, I love her character. I recently realized I enjoy doing necropsies, I always wanted to be a teacher, I love entertaining children, and I had a bad spell for about half my life, I wonder if thats why Alva appeals to me so deeply. Thank you for bringing this character to life, she means alot to me.
To be honest I think this has to do with the fact that there are so few women characters in movies, tv, etc. who get to be disagreeable or bitter some of the time, while still intended to be liked by the audience - so when one appears, people tend to connect them to other female characters who are also written that way, even though they might otherwise have little in common.
One word : Magic. If you ever make more magical movies that entertain and inspire, then you have a fan in me. And do build an amusement park with all your characters!
Again, amazing and fantastic work on this animated piece of everything wonderful also great. Please don't ever stop releasing these behind the senses animation in the works early progress of how this animated piece of art came about. :)
you are beautiful! I dream of being like you, I even dream of going to Madrid. Animation is magic in action and the creation process is the most wonderful thing that can be :)
I absolutely adore this movie, but to be honest I'm almost sad that they even added romance into this, she's an interesting character and definitely had a wonderful charm, but I feel like she would have benefited more from not being a love interest, she already stood out on her own
When Alva was developping herself as an independant character during the movie, I prayed for them not to make her the love interest of Jesper. Oops, too bad. Still a better character than a lot of female ones we can see out there tho !
Honestly, there's just waaay more proof in the visuals, writing and character acting to show that Klaus & Jesper were a developed couple than what there was for Alva. Alva had a good character arc but she was nowhere close to the intimacy that Klaus & Jesper managed to reach. Klaus literally tells Jesper that him *being there* made his life better, while Alva says that Jesper made *the town* a better place to live. Is it more romantic that Jesper changed Klaus' *character* or is it more romantic that Jesper simply changed the *circumstances* that Alva lived in?

Yes!
Yeah.

I always thought Alva's head was meant to resemble a knife
No, it's definitely an old-timey ink pen. You know, with a metallic top that kinda resembles a quill.
I thought it meant a diamond
Ehm...i think she looks like a person?
That would be pretty funny.

oh sweet summer child. Did you ever get to cosplay her?
Alva was so much fun to watch! Her sarcasm made some of my favorite moments, and her character growth made me feel a lot of love.
This movie is absolutely beautiful in every way! 😊 Infact I'm planning on watching it again soon. I respect these animators so much ♥️
She really was a great character in design, voice acting, and development 🙂
The truth is that I wanted to see more moments with Alva and Jesper. It would be wonderfull
If you do, please check out my fanfiction of them! :3 m.fanfiction.net/s/13813582/1/If-you-put-two-and-two-together
Nice job on Alva. I like her personality, design, and traits. What a woman. Klaus is too fun.
The little sticky note near her name to spell "Alvaro" made me lose it
The animation of Alva is just incredibly satisfying to watch.
I actually fell for her whole design the moment I saw it. Idk, the big eyes and the style itself is so appealing to me.❤
Alva reminds me of Cass from Tangled for some reason.
They do have a similar attitude and temper only difference Alva doesn't go berserk and try to kill her best friend and ruin a Kingdom lol

She reminded me of Astrid from How to train your dragon
I really, REALLY wish Klaus was on DVD
The amount of actors from the office that went on to voice a character in an animated movie is uncanny!

Among my favorite character in the Movie, she is funny, inspiring, and beautiful ❤
I love this film, it was my favorite of 2019. Every character was perfect. And I love they choose one of their characters to be a teacher ❤️
I found it interesting how aggressively sharp and pointy they went with her chin

I really think we should start a hashtag #klausdeservedoscar
I love how Rashida gave tips for what she felt Alva would say...really shows her skills as a character actor and a writer.
I absolutely love your work!!! You guys should do a character study of Mogens pls! 💙💙💙
I just love Alva
Thank you.

Soft disagree. Achieving one doesn't mean sacrificing the other.
Agreed, her ending up with Jesper felt more obligatory than anything else
The important thing was that she was never JUST the love interest. Watch a sixties movie and you'll appreciate the difference.
Strong independent woman who don't needs no man
“Rashida Jones from The Office”
I think you mean Parks & Recreation! Ann Perkins, you beautiful tropical fish
Nice!!! This stuff is great!
Good that Bianca hold a fake knife cause if would be real I would be scared If I would approach her.
Whats the next clip movie in klause animation new serial
A lot of people seem to ship Klaus and Jesper more than Jesper and Alva for some reason

She reminds me of a tsunadere named asuka
Has anybody else thought that Alva was voiced by Holly Hunter during the first time watching the movie?
Did the guy said allah
Time to breed. :P
Alva rule 34?
no
please don't
Shut up dude
