I’m surprised the discussion hasn’t expanded beyond Shane’s role as an on-screen talent. From my perspective, Shane can facilitate business deals and sponsorships, similar to what Nick Khan has done for WWE. With about 25 years of business connections, AEW can now tap into these networks. It’s surprising that the discourse hasn’t focused on this as a strategic business move in addition to being an on-screen talent.
What you just said was the first thing that came to my mind when i first heard the rumor over a month ago. Being an on screen character maybe, but more so behind the scenes. This dude sat/lived/grew up with f**king Vince McMahon. He's gotta have some connections or know some ppl who've done business with his pops. If it's strictly that, I see it as a win-win situation.

I totally get not being into the idea of Shane being involved with AEW, he's a divisive personality and I don't have any special affinity for him. But suggesting this is staged because Tony Khan is desperate for any attention was not my expectation for you guys. Again, no need to force positivity about the story, but the overall negative extrapolation was surprising to me.
Has some of the stunts to boost a rating occasionally been 'silly', sure, but It's not as if TK has made a bunch of tasteless carny-esque decisions that were bad for the company and stories. But then again, I guess that's somewhat subjective. Especially according to people like Jim Cornette🤷♂

Don’t think I’d particularly want a McMahon in aew at this time, even though he isn’t seemingly involved in the lawsuit
I wouldn’t mind Shane as a manager but I don’t think AEW can get his WWE theme and Shane’s entrance was half the fun.
If Tony is bringing him in to get some control over the frat house with somebody who's been in the trenches, I'm all for it. I don't want to see Shane in the ring outside being in a GM role, but I don't want to see him flying around at his age. I can see him butting heads with MJF on the Mic being fun.

I just don't see Shane McMahon coming in as "talent" let alone any position in which he calls Tony Kahn "Boss". He's a McMahon.
I just don't see anything short of Shane having significant power in AEW. Tony won't sell...but it's hard to see anything outside of that. Anything else, would be seen as a major step down for Shane and whatever perception fans may have of him
