    You said during your freshman year people failed the informatics aspect of the program right? I want to know if it's that difficult because I'm planning on majoring in mis. Reply please.

    So What is required of this major mathematics? Programming I don't think much because it is not computer programming or computer science

      A major in Management Information Systems (MIS) with a concentration in mathematics typically requires a strong background in mathematics, as well as coursework in the principles and practices of information systems and management.
      The specific requirements for a major in MIS with a concentration in mathematics will vary depending on the university and program, but generally, you can expect to take classes such as:
      Calculus and linear algebra: These classes will provide a foundation for the mathematical concepts and methods used in information systems and management.
      Statistics: Classes in statistics will cover topics such as probability, statistical inference, and data analysis, which are important for understanding the data-driven approach used in many information systems.

    Is the field of management information systems required in the labor market in Germany and America? thank you very much

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  Рік тому

      Yes, MIS is currently highly requested in Germany. In comparison, we have each year 100k Students who have finished their studies in Business Administration while on the other hand we have about 25k students in Informatics & MIS together.
      From my experience, I can tell you that from 10 applications you will have 4 invitations and 1 out of 4 is given you a contract.
      The reason why I compare Business Administration with MIS is because those students try their best to get a job in the IT field like in Project Management or Consultancy and they usually have no experience in informatics at all.
      If you apply for the same position and you know how to sell yourself during the interview your chances are really good. At least from my perspective as a German. But I can't tell you how it is in other countries like the US.

    Hello Raslan.
    Currently I'm Majoring in Economics on Bachelor's level and planning to change my minor from International Business to Management Information Systems to get a data driven Exposure.
    What are your take?
    Do share your thoughts.

    • @itbrezel

      Why not? If you want to take on management responsibility later on, you can go down this route.
      But I'm not really familiar with international business. But I can tell you that business informatics is very popular. Especially at renowned companies and large corporations. You can give your career a boost with this degree program.

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  Рік тому

      Hello Ahmed,
      Between Management Information Systems and business technology management there is no difference.
      The only difference you can have is between the curriculum of the Universities themselves.

    In Egypt, there is a misunderstanding between the degree of management information systems and business information systems. They say that business information systems are a broader and more comprehensive field than management information systems. Is this true?

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  Рік тому

      The thing is, it Always depends how the university itself defines this field. Probably in Egypt the education system makes a huge difference between them. Like in Germany we simply have one definition and we don't teach the aspects of BIS and MIS separated.
      The best way to solve this problem for you is to take a look on the curriculum and decide which one of them fits your expectations better.
      I hope, I could help!

    I'm thinking of getting a MIS degree (in Germany) as BBA graduate (from non EU). I want to be a data analyst, but getting into a data science Master's program (at least for public universities in Germany) would be impossible due to my Bachelor's. So is a data analyst a common career path for MIS graduates in Germany? Then I wouldn't mind settling with a MIS degree.

    • @itbrezel
      @itbrezel  9 місяців тому

      Hello Omar, thank you for your great question!
      It is quite difficult to define "common", so I can at least give some hints from my own experience.
      1. Being a Business Analyst with MIS is not super common but also not an uncommon choice. I know that this answer not a satisfying answer but I think you would face a bigger Problem than that.
      2. Being a business analyst means you need good communication skills in a typical German office. I know that the current opinion about the German working market is that everyone speaks at least some English, which is true. But Germans prefer speaking in German and therefore they expect speaking in German from you too. I even have some software developer colleagues who are complaining that most of their colleagues are speaking in German and you already program in English, if you understand what I mean ;)
      So, my advice would be to focus on your German skills as soon as possible or to find a field which doesn't require a lot of communication. Otherwise you could have a hard time to achieve a position here in Germany.
      If you have other questions, just ask

      @@itbrezel I see, so people do go for the analyst path after MIS but I should learn as much German as possible before coming there, got it. Thank you for the prompt and detailed response!

      @Omar-Asim Since I'm a Student too and I'm currently working for an IT company and I have met a lot of people from Asia. Mostly From India, Pakistan, Vietnam & Philippines. Most of them have faced the problem: the German market is not ready for people who are speaking English Only.
      When I search for English speaking jobs in Berlin, the companies oftentimes require a mid - level speaking certificate. Without those certificates it will be though.
      It is sad to see that many young people come to Berlin with big hopes, their degrees and end up as Uber Drivers.
