In this video we discuss how the PENN SLAMMER 4 has changed over the battle-proven PENN SLAMMER 3. I go in detail what may be missed in just reading the manufacturer's description on their website.

Excellent review as consumers we want to know our money to value makes sense. You review is clear points out the difference between the 3 and 4 to justify the extra cost.
Thanks for stopping by and sharing the kind words boss!
This is a wonderful review, almost everything been addressed, thank you!
I got a Slammer 3 3500 when it came out. And bought a Slammer 4 5500 recently. And honestly I find no difference. They are both excellent reels. I also have 8 different Shimano Stradic which was my goto reel and still is on some occasions but both of these are amazing reels and would rec both to anyone..
I’m also a fan of the Stradic and am currently fishing the FL 3000 as my light set up. Looking at the Slammer in a 4500 as an in between set up for casting heavier spoons/top waters/etc. would you say the Slammer is worth the buy or would you get another Stradic?
@@brandongouge Ive not got a 4500 Slammer 3 but I took the 5500 offshore last week to the gas platforms and it was excellent. No trouble at all with 15lb snapper and big yellowfin. Im very impressed with it. My cousin has the 4500 3 Slammer and he uses it everywhere. I think the drag is great and you can crank it all day.
Jeez I don’t own any penn or shimano items cuz there so expensive
@@frostizz2072 Get them off eBay much cheaper 2nd hand. I tend to use my tackle till it falls apart. My 2 main freshwater reels are both 45 years old I bought new. I use a couple of the rods I used for carp fishing when I lived in England for beach fishing. Its not necessary to use expensive rods/reels. More important to get your end tackle and technique right. But if you have confidence in your rod/reel you do tend to fish better IMVHO.
@@ChewingToons yeah better gear makes you want to fish more cuz ur looks so good
This is the info i was looking for! Good job. Going for the 10500.
Glad I could help!
That is a really nice reel. Been looking for a new spinning reel to pick up.
The Slammer 3's are going on sale!
First off I want to say, GREAT review!! I've been looking around lately for a new reel for Musky, I have an 8 foot medium heavy fast action shimano rod. The Penn Slammer III is interesting but I want to know if you believe it's a good choice for musky (Or the Slammer IV). I'll be spooling it with 90lbs braided line. I know most musky fisherman use bait cast reels, but I like spinning reels and I need one that will retrieve my lures without to much difficulty.
man.. nice reel.. the slammer is a beast, always has been...
Can you please do this with spinfisher 6 and 7 there’s no comparison videos
Good idea
Wonderful thanks for the presentation 👍❤👍
Thanks for dropping in!
hey just found your channel. Have to say your vid edit were probably really time consuming but they are well done! nice vid bro!
Thanks for stopping by and glad to hear!
I totally agree with you regarding where it is made. I personally would like to see that it is made in America. I don’t mind paying a bit more for the products made in our country.
Are the spools interchangeable?
Awesome slammer review
Nice ! good Review! Thank you !
Thanks for stopping by!
Sounds and looks great buddy have a great new year 👍
Thanks boss!
I would 100% trade my slammer 4 for a slammer 3. I miss my old slammer
Nothing wrong with the 3s!
hello, one question, there are some penn slamer iv in alie express at a good price, they are original
Nice reals Happy New Year friend
Thanks!
Thanks bro 😄! I will.buy the slammer 4 and i will also try their new Penn authority! You got any news for that reel ?
Penn Authority is awesome so far, however not necessary haha. The slammers are perfectly good and much cheaper.
you know what? I still prefer the aesthetics of the slammer 3... those vertical spool cuts look slick on the 3, and I prefer the mostly gold handle as well. I have two slammed 3s, and they are excellent
Got a 10500 at about the price 250, is the price good?
Want the Penn Slammer 4 / 5500 ! Coming soon ! Used to have a Penn 440ss I'm thinking it's the closest Penn to the old 440ss
great comparison vidieo
thank you, i bought slammer 4 10500 guess i'll return it , way too heavy and way too big, and really expensive as well
at that price i can buy Japanese made reels or American made reels.
So what’s the setup your using in the river power of rod and size reel
Been trying to track down 2 slammer 10500. they were not kidding hard to find.
Thanks for swinging by, yeah they can be hard to source.
Hope one day penn would revise their spool for better castibility , a bit longer with forward wide angle just like shimano ones , worm gear line lay tech.@slower osc . Bigger main gear drive , no balck colour for bail wire, using better alum that’s lighter than the one they’r using
Does this one have the damn auto bale trip design flaw like the iii???? Lost so many spoons w my iii
You can try removing the bail trip lever and turn it into a manual. No guarantees what that will do to the overall functionality however...I'll have to try it out some time.
@@CastFromTheHip doing that tomorrow thanks
Does anybody know where this part goes on the slammer 4 5500 I took the drag knob off The top and all of a sudden this appeared
In aussie atm you can get a 3 9500 over $200 dollars cheaper than the new 4 8500HS. So yeah I bought another 3 while I could.
That's an awesome value! Hope it serves you very well.
Made in America slammer would be sick. Don’t see it happening anytime soon, unfortunately. Someday :)
Thanks for stopping by! Yeah we can dream at least.
Penn should, it's their best spinning reel. Not taking anything away from the Torque.
Damn I still love the looks of slammer 3 compare to slammer 4
Yeah nothing wrong with the Slammer 3 in my opinion, thanks for stopping by!
Awesome Intro
The way i fish, i almost always see salt buildup at the bottom of my reels in the line spool. That said, unless those new screw holes on the spool itself are 316 stainless or boron, i see it being an issue
Great point, thanks for sharing. Might be worth capping those screw holes with some grease before spooling up a new reel. We’ll see how they hold up.
@@CastFromTheHip Would grease on your braid adversely impact the line? Seems hard to fix the one problem without creating a new one.
I have Slammers 3 10500 - I will keep them. :-)
Good review 👍👍, subcribed.
Thanks for stopping by!
You should do more fishing videos for salmon
It crossed my mind to make a Coho video...maybe I'll do that in a few weeks. Thanks for stopping by and leaving feedback!
How much is the new real
good comparation info
Thanks for stopping by!
Whew... gooseflesh when you mentioned a Penn Reel with an American Flag emblazoned on the side.
I'd be willing to accept a slightly higher price point for a made in America product too. Just saying...
Would be awesome!
Soon
They're nice.
This year ICAST Battle IV, next year should be Slammer V lol.......
if it was made in USA the retail price would be 600USD.
Thanks for stopping by, you’re probably not wrong.
Strange choice to use part of Churchill's speech about fighting Nazi Germany for your intro. I get the wording but the imagery it evokes.
Penn Slammer 3 is on sale at Bass Pro
Right on, getting rid of the old stock. Thanks for stopping by and sharing.
Great reel, but the last part, made in china, will prevent me from buying it. I am selling everything I own made in china or assembled in Mexico. That includes all my golf equipment too.All my fishing tackle, rods reels and lures will be American or like abu garcias made in Sweden, rapalas made in Finland, .I will buy high dollar Daiwas and shimanos as long as they're made in japan. All my rods are now loomis, lamiglas, st croix kencor, all star, Sabre and others usa made only. My reels are now avet, accurate, Penn (only the american made, like internationals)or Abu garcia or seigler. Not buying from our enemies, china or mexico.
That America cannot compete .... makes it its enemy! Why;..........
