Awesome review. Ive been a big fan of their rods and reels for a couple seasons now. Excellent performance and great value. I really love the range of their line allowing each angler to get exactly the rod they need.
100% man. They are doing great things. I want some more of their rods now. Thanks for your comment. Your entered into a draw to win a fiahing trip with us. Good luck!
I should do a video where I stomp on the rod and see if it survives! 😂. Thanks for your comment and letting me know about the guides. Much appreciated. Also by commenting your automatically entered into a draw to win a trip fishing with us. Good luck!
Never ever ever have i had the line on the spool spin!!!! I fish at least 75-100 days a year and never had this happen! Black tape on spool first and a good tight knot over the black tape..... done
I have a handful of really nice cuatom rods. I also own 2 frostbite rods. A dipstick and a royal flush. They are by far my favorite rods. They are decently priced as well. Bang for your buck, I don't think you can find a better rod. I also have a couple of the diesel reels. They don't compare to my shimanos or diawas, but they are good for the price range.
I agree. I broke a stradic Ci4 a couple years back while in my sled. Since then I don't bring my expensive reels ice fishing anymore. Diesels, and piscifun carbon x 2000 are my goto now!
@FoxFishing4K i hear that. Wife has 2 stradics, and i cringe everytime they leave the house. I'm ok with the diesels for walleye, but chasing big lakers I'm worried they won't cut it. Daiwa LT series, for $100 or less are an amazing option.
@@natehale1982 I've used the diesels for pike AND Lakers, they'll cut it. Frostbite put a lot of time and effort into the development of their reels, as they have with their other ice gear, and it shows. Really happy they came out with a 2000 series.
I'll have to look into that one. I have a drama queen and a slugger for pike fishing and love them. Got my buddy to buy 2 and this ice show in the twin cities I'll be buying one for walleyes. 👍👍🎣🎣
This rod was great for walleye! I highly suggest it! Thanks for your comment. Your entered into to the draw to win a fishing trip with us. I will check out the queen and slugger for a pike rod. Thanks for the suggestion.
Have had the 38-inch frostbite smokeshow for couple years now... its my favorite rod by far... caught a crap load of everything on it... big and small...lol..
Lol I have 4 kids. I couldn't say no to my daughter when she wanted to be a part of the video :). Thanks for your comment. Your entered into a draw to win a fishing trip with us.
Been a sub for at least 4 years, you are the real deal angler in ontario, love to have you up north here, and hit some of my fav spots with ya. Last winter I hooed up a 27 inch walleye, bottomed out my 8 pound 1968 year old scale haha. I figured around 10lbs since i suspected it was a prego female judging by the fight. of course she went back into the water, and yes i was fishing only 20 feet of water.
Thanks for the kind words! Also thank you for being a long time subscriber! I am reaching a point i can start doing more giveaways and such. So stay tuned. As for the walleye congrats on the thick 27! Send me a text 705-937-8558 or email kevinfox2010@gmail.com and maybe we can get together this hard water season.
Just seeing your channel, and subbing ya up. The Frostbite line of equipment is great. Have 8 of their rods and 4 of their reels, and super stoked they have a 2000 series of reels now. Did grab a couple of of the Timber hard water series to try, but always end up grabbing my Frosty's. Great review, great to see some more Ontario (Midland area?)content💥👊!!
@@FoxFishing4K sweet.. I use to look after Waypoint, but still look after the jail, I'm in the Gravenhurst area, nice meeting ya bud. Thanks for the entry!!
I don't do the slack line bite anymore. We moved away from bottom jigs and moved to high hooks and soft plastics. You actually feel the whitefish bite now. They will actually thump your rod. I like a medium light 36"-30" for this as the bend keeps the fish pinned. 40" if open hoeing and i have room and a 36" for in the hut.
I have been fishing with frostbite rods for the last 4 years. I have nothing bad to say about them from catching big momma lakers with the drama queen to catching perch with the Mr. Noodles… they are very good rods for the price.. I prefer the twilight series to the vanta black…. Only because I prefer reel seats to taping my reels on, I love the different “butt jobs” that you can change the length of the butt. The downfall of twilight to vanta black is the guides, they are all metal but the vanta blacks are titanium so you can bend them to get ice off and they won’t break… I have 6 of their rods from ultralight to heavy…. The diesel reels are great as well the drag is really loud so people know when you got a pig on the end of the line. I have only broke one rod and that was from an unfortunate flip over shack incident…10/10 imo
Honestly, I'm kind of addicted to them now. I thought they were going to be cheap/junky and was pleasantly surprised. I will definitely be buying more!
Hello there, I really like your sled modification setup, can you give me some details or where did you buy that or made that? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Their products are good but it is a lot of hype also. Having channels like Uncut Angling and Jay Siemens selling Frostbite products they will sell regardless of quality. My latest video is a head to head comparison of the Frostbite Tantrum versus my confidence bait. For that video I also bought a FrostBite Meatlocker rod. It was okay, feels decent and Ill continue to use it for stocked trout. One thing I didnt like about the rod was a sharp piece of metal sticking through the cork. I had to file that down so it wouldnt cut my hand. A little more quality control is required. Good designs though!
Just a heads-up you mentioned the all metal eyes on the vanta black. They're supposed to be springy so you can just press the eyes down and then release and that pops the ice right off (also makes it so they won't break it you step on them). Neat feature on the more expensive models. I have the twilight in the Mr Noodles and Feather Duster (34" XUL and UL respectively) and they are great for crappie. Love frostbite!
I own several Frostbite rods and I personally know some of the guys who run Frostbite. Their products have improved a decent amount over the years. I think they're great rods. The reason is that they actually understand the needs of ice anglers better than most companies and actually have a large variety of technique specific rods without being too expensive.
Every rod company that makes reels make the drag way to loud and very clicky feeling..... dont waste your money forsure! Buy a daiwa and save the headache

The guides flex down flat to the rod and and snap back into place and don’t break. Titanium !!
That's amazing I will have to test that out!

Does that rod have a fast tip? Do you have a rod that you suggest that has a fast tip for the whitefish slack bite?
