Today we’re letting a professional racing driver have a go in one of our terrible cars and we’re gonna drive his fully prepped race car. If we don’t beat it, our car gets CRUSHED. Charlie is a pro racing driver who’s competed in Le Mans twice, so he knows what he’s doing. The car we’ve chosen for him is our £1500, 140mph and usually broken Vauxhall Zafira. Meanwhile, we are complete amateurs, and we’ll be driving a £100,000 fully prepped Ginetta racecar. We’ll each get a few laps to get used to the car and then we’ll have one final timed lap.

If you want to mod the Zafira, and want to get a little crazy with it - it shares an engine platform with the Chevy Cobalt SS and the Saab 9-3. Which means you can be the only people on earth with the 2.8L Holden turbo V6 out of a Saab 903/Cadillax BLS/Vectra VXR. Tell me this thing wouldn't rip with 400 horsepower being pushed out of it.
No room whatsoever in the Zafira engine bay for a Z28NET.
The Z20LET it has that's already forged by the previous owner would be trivial to take to 400hp. It would do 500+ if they changed the pistons but I suspect it's just a rod job.
It's not the same platform, the Z20LET / LEH in this is an older iron block design, but that means with a proper engine build and a big turbo it will make 400hp anyway.
Goal = Get the Zafira to match your times in that Ginetta (Charlie doing the laps).

@@snoopydogg1 so, the channel that started with a fire damaged egg-fried 911, a dodgy range rover and the smaller roadster known to man isn't exactly going to be rebuilding P1s anytime soon. We dont see enough GSIs (or STs for that matter) on mainstream youtube, and this would be an awesome build

It is so satisfying to see this channel succeed. This channel is 3 months old with 200k subscribers and after 3 hours this video has 60k views, whereas car throttle with their 3 million subscribers has managed too scrape 16k views on their latest video in 4 days lmaooo
Well it clearly where Car Throttle are going wrong. You have to speculate to accumulate and that is buying cars to do projects with to make great content.
It's a shame that CT has gone the way it's gone but I am so fortunate that Auto Alex has invested in the AA Multiverse with TDC and All the Gear.
The content across the three channels is fantastic.

The Z20LEH is an extremely tunable engine, as is the Zafira OPC a tunable car.
You can get:
- full kit of Wössner forged pistons and rods right now for from Nevlock Performance
- upgraded gearbox with an added limited slip diff from Gear Lab for (or just the limited slip diff itself if you don't care about larger bearings and such)
- short shifter kit from BAF Motorsport
- boost silicone hoses kit from Roose Motorsport
- coolant silicon hoses from Speedcool
- H&R coilover kit from WinParts
- all UltraRacing chassis braces from VoorwindenParts and GT2i (there are more than 15 braces for the underbody, under the hood, inside the car, etc. and they make it race-car-like rigid)

Time to turn the Zafira into a race car. Cut out the fenders so you can drop it real low, make a wooden bodykit, create molds with the wood, and then create the actual bodykit. Would be a super fun project! And then stripping the interior, adding a roll cage and whatnot... What to do with the engine though? :)

Zafira should be a super cheap mod car, like, how to make you car faster on a 16yr old virgin budget, rescued parts, shady adaptations, straight gross incompetence, just fits it really, like how to make your Zafira GSI quicker with 26.87£ and a pack of gum to impress your ricing friends

Well done on the channel chaps. Some feedback though - please, please, please spend a minute or so at the start explaining why you are doing what you are doing (eg some sort of bet or "we wanted to see if the zafira was worth saving") and intro us to who else is going to be in the vid (eg this is my mate/bloke we met in the pub called Charlie and give us some of his credentials). Was a bit random that you were "going to crush the zafira" for no reason and Charlie seemed like he should/could have said a bit more. Good content though!

I went to Palmer sport and drove something very similar to this Ginetta. It was a Ginetta but without some of the bells and whistles which this thing has. Awesome car and would definitely recommend
