They put the USB port on the side so you can use stand and charge the battery pack. Another use case would be to have it next to your bed as a over night standing dock/clock. Then you just take it with you when you are going out in the morning.
Great review brother. I had just ordered a 621 tonight then I came across your video. I canceled and spent the extra $10 and order the 622 instead. Thanks and Happy Holidays!
I just tested on my 1st gen, and it will also allow you to power off the charger and use it as a stand without charging the battery. I just held the power button until the LEDs went off. They moved the charge port from the bottom to the side so you can charge the battery pack while using it as a stand.
Can I ask where do you live? I'm from Poland and I noticed that Anker advertises it as the MagGo in instead of 622 throughout Europe. There might be some differences because of that including the ability to turn it off. I'm not 100% sure though, just a theory.
This anker battery pack is definitely attractive with it’s slim look and manageable price point, but I always worry about the potential damage one does to their phones battery when they use a charger like this
Why so? It’s just a MagSafe charger with a battery. Charging your phone wirelessly is the same and if it somehow destroyed your battery, apple wouldn’t allow it.
It doesn’t damage the phones battery, unless you’re like keeping it on all the time and never letting your phone deplete… in which case just don’t do that lol
Just upgraded from the XS to a 13 Mini, so bought the 622 for when I'm out and about, and to trigger standby mode when I'm home. I'd originally got a battery bank more like Apple's own, but returned it in favour of this much more useful one. Thanks for the content.
Yeah they don't announce anything. You just always have to be actively looking to even find it. Folks were telling me in my comments on a video about it.
I swear they release a new MagSafe Mobile Charger every 3 months… kinda aggravating to buy something for them to release a better one 3 ish months later. Yes I know this one came out last year but they had the original non flappy black one, the first 622, the big boy with the kick stand 633, and now this “new” 622 all in less than 2 years.
I’m using the older Anker 521 atm and it’s sufficient, will hold on to it for a bit before upgrading but I do appreciate the changes Anker made to the 622. Thanks Tee.
Not sure if I’m gonna buy another one. It heats up a lot and made the battery health on my 14 pro go down to 94% in just 3 months. Might stick with Apple Magsafe Battery Pack.
How often are you using it? I wouldn't use these things all the time but really just when needed. This actually fixed heat management but still gets warm like any other normal MagSafe Charger does.
Liked and followed. My Samsung S22 Ultra seems to be too heavy. What I mean is, with charger up as a stand, phone is keen to slide off, to the floor. I assumed it would hold the phone in place. NO CASE ON THE PHONE. Thoughts?
I just had a thought! They probably put them on the sides so you can plug it in and still use the stand function while the MagSafe charger charges. Sort of like a dock 🤔🤯
They moved the USB over to the side so that you can have it plugged in while it's charging while you're watching something using the kickstand so that when the new magsafe update comes out you'll also be able to use that new clock feature thing that I guess it's coming with I'm assuming that that is a pass through USB that allows it to charge your phone at the same time it's charging the brick itself while it's plugged in that's why they moved it to the side and really couldn't plug it in and charge while you were watching something when it was at the bottom that was a major complaint that us anker users had was that we couldn't use the kickstand and keep it plugged in wirelessly charging at the same time while using its kickstand functionality
Honestly speaking I feel like anker realize it's impossible to charge the battery pack while using the magnetic stand. I have the original black and i love it.Also I wanted to mention the morphie magnetic rings are powerful grate modifications for android phones that doesn't have magsafe built-in. Another helpful tip make sure the alignment is correct because once you Please the magsafe ring it they do not come off.
I brought the new one in purple because my old 622 in black just cooking the phone like a egg now I can have my new 622 without cooking my iPhone asol ur videos are great
Yeah you can turn it off when it's not connected to the phone but as soon as you connect it, it starts to auto charge and you can't turn it back off. I've tested is over and over.
@@TechnicallyTee It should be disabled attached to the iPhone. In this case, it will be turned off before the button is pressed. By the way, this way it keeps the charge longer until it is used.
my problem with my original 622 is that at least for the white version, the soft touch material stains so easily! I just had it in my bag and it got stained somehow permanently
bro as always, great work and review, may I recommend you to include iniu magsafe ultra thin 6000 mAh with kickstand and grip? its really cheap for all those features!
Glad someone updated to the newer model. I almost made a video about it cuz it wasn't being done. Thank you for keeping me from embarrassing myself. Lol
I got this anker 633 upgrade version. Idk if I should regret my purchase or not 😅 I don’t want to damage my battery life. But I honestly bought it to use it if it’s really needed, like when I don’t have my charger with me at all. And I guess I can still use it like a standerd and just turning off the power button 😄
1:39 could be that a lot of people would use this charger in landscape will viewing content + you can charge while using the stand in portrait mode. hmmm!!!! Just a theory.
My question is, can you charge an android phone say samsung s20 or s21 with usb-c to usb-c with this battery pack? Example, connect the usb-c to charge the samsung?? Possible? Please thank you
Just picked one of these up and was wondering if I have a defective unit or this is a regular occurrence. Whenever it snaps on with magsafe I don't get the magsafe animation, I have tried all the solutions and can not seem to get it to do the circle animation to indicate that it is a magsafe accessory. I read online that since it is a low voltage magsafe charger it might not be coming on and only displaying the battery charging icon. If anyone knows more about this please enlighten me.
Changing charging port side makes sense for charging the battery pack while using it as a stand. I recently got apple magsafe battery after your reviews for it and now you are saying that anker one is good too😢
Hey man great video, how much is the wattage using the usb-c to lightning cable instead of MagSafe? So like basically asking is if it’s faster to use usb c port than the MagSafe?
On the original if you hold down the power button you can turn the charging off and just use it as a stand I do like that the new one has the port on the side so you can use it at your desk to charge
I've tried everything and mine doesn't turn off when holding the button. I'm not sure if there was a version in between the two because mine doesn't turn off.
@@TechnicallyTee I was just going to say that haha maybe there was a feature revision before the release of this new one. I just got mine about two weeks ago and was a little sad thinking mine would always stay on while watching this video but I went ahead and held the button down and saw it had turned off lol
How long does this hold its charge? I want a powerbank/battery pack to throw in my work back pack to use only when i need run out of juice on the go. Right now that isn't often at all. Maybe once a month or even less.
The older version costs about $35 in my country and the newer version is for about $65, would it be worth the extra 30 bucks or should I just get the older version?
Really depends on what you want to spend. Also the Pros vs the Airpods (3rd generation) the fit is a little different but I have the Pro 2s and love them but if you don't need all the features the 3rd gens works just fine.
Just got the new version in the mail. Is your kickstand magnet super weak? When I have the phone on it if I barely tap the screen it falls. Wondering if this is normal or a defect?

Changed it to the side if you’re charging via usb c while using the battery as a stand.

It makes totally sense having the connector on the side . So u actually can charge it now while on the stand
Yeah for sure. Didn't think about that until someone told me in the comments.
I was able to pick up one of the upgraded version for 30 bucks last month directly from Anker. It was no doubt the best product for my iPhone.
I just tested on my 1st gen, and it will also allow you to power off the charger and use it as a stand without charging the battery. I just held the power button until the LEDs went off.
