wrong perspective my man! It’s not the fact that they are “important” by any means. music is just actually simple to a small degree, like mathematics, a lot of it is just common sense and rhythm after the first 2 weeks! we are musical creatures at heart, do you think the birds think before they cherp? They just do it!
Especially when you play the song wrong like this guy does so you don't have to play any other chords to get the song right! 🤦♂ (Hint: the 2nd chord is wrong. 3 seconds into an 11 minute video and he's already f'd it up. JFC.)
beautiful song. great lesson marty. im a full time busker and your videos are responsible for a significant chunk of my repertoire so i extend my gratitude your way my brother. all the best from liverpool, england x
I really like it that you play the tune first and then break it down, most people will just get straight into how to play it, and I always skip the video
Hi Marty. Just wanted to say a BIG THANKS. You keep it nice and simple without making it over complicated like many who instruct like the person learning is an expert (phraseology). Kudos dude 👍👍👍👍👍
This was a terrific lesson. You really do an excellent job of showing the chord progressions and explaining the verse, chorus and the bridge. Thanks very much for this and you've given me plenty to work on. Let me know if you ever decide to tackle "Isn't It A Pity" by George Harrison.
Years ago this would have the type of music I would have been making or writing as they say. I had a thing for dirgy sounding chord changes.because I never played whole chords this is doable for me but I have been fooling around with a variation of notes that I don't have to move around too much just have to keep practicing it. Thank you Marty I like you version.
Your tutorials are literary the only thing on the UA-cam that helped me learn to play guitar. And now I have been killing myself on figuring out how to do that "scale" part in Blur's Music is my radar. Could you please please do that next? Cheers!
Wow man. I thanks. I've been messing round with guitars for years but never learned a single real song. Now...thanks to you, I can actually play a few now! So great that you do these excellent and free lessons. :D Subscribed
been screwing around with this song forever after the sing along in philly concert i had to learn it i checked out other lessons this is the best thank you marty you are truly the best
For anyone who needs to know the chorus riff played on piano it’s: 7 on the E string then 5 on a and 5 on d then 7 on d then 8 on d then 9 on a 7 on a and then 3-4 on a Then for the second part it’s 7 on g 9 on d then open g, open d 2 on the d 4 on the d 3 on the g then 3-2 on b. Hope this helps!
Thanks for this tutorial. Very well explained. I compared your version to a lot of others and I like your way of playing this the best, but I wish you would show the chords and strumming patterns and do a full playthrough at the end so we could play along. This wasn't a complicated song, but some people might need it.
cheers for the video. I was learning from your old karma police video a few years back then stopped. But Iv picked it back up and its an amazing satisfaction to be able.....well almost able to play this Radiohead classic. Im 70%....few more sessions with Marty and I have it. Best teacher on youtube!
Marty - Agree with many of the comments below. You are indeed a great 'breaker downer' of songs (wangson) and per Joe Black; singing the chord name out as you play it really helps in learning the chord changes. Like many of your subscribers (fans) I am UK based. Would love to see you feature more songs from UK artists in your UA-cam portfolio; Radiohead, Stone Roses, Ride, Richard Ashcroft etc ... Thanks for the lessons to date.
Awesome, Marty! Thank you so much! ❤ I love this song, and now I can have fun playing it and singing along. Hadn’t in my wildest dreams thought I would be able to play this one six months ago, when I picked up the guitar again. I like to slide the C shape down to the third fret for the D - I learned that from practicing «Wild Horses»
marty ive been playing around 2 years now and your videos have taught me more then anyone or even myself and im at a level where I an pick up songs quite easy but still haven't learnt how to intuitively play the scales so please please please can you do a tutorial on a song called 'Morning light' by Dizraeli
I would like to see a lesson for No Surprises by Radiohead. One of the best tutorials ever. You can't cram more into 10 minutes then that. Thanks so much.
wow, i learned this in about the time of the video, thanks marty! it's astounding to notice my progression coming into my 4th month of learning guitar, certainly helps that i've listened to this song so many times, the parts where you sing with the chord names is truly helpful
You have great humor brother. . Thank you for your bad ass videos! There's some really cool piano but we're playing guitar lol It made me laugh and appreciate the fact that I'm learning this on piano also because of that very same reason.. The piano is juicy on this song. Tom is next level. Thanks for all that you do stud.
dat feel when you B minor, C haha. great tutorial Marty as always. I am so lost at the F major part.. IT DOESN'T SOUND THE SAME AND IM FREAKING OUT EUHEUHUE I am so lost at the F major part.. IT DOESN'T SOUND THE SAME AND IM FREAKING OUT EUHEUHUE
Wow you’ve got an ear for music my friend. I immediately searched sexy Sadie to listen and you’re Right. Has something similar going on in the progression. Well spotted !

i keep coming back to this channel because marty makes a lot of tutorials for songs i wanna learn. however the tutorials are not very good compared to some other channels tbh. i mean who am i to complain, after all its free. just wanna say thast marty could learn a lot on how to structure his tutorials from a channel like justinguitar :P marty seems to play songs mainly by feeling and ear but beginners need more structure than that XD not saying its impossible to figure out with this video but it surely could be a lot easier :P
It’s crazy how important the G,C,D,E chords are you could play so many songs with those chords alone
Music theory a b c d e and f chords you can play any stringed instrument
