They cost too much and upstaged the clothes. That’s why designers themselves decided to phase out the celebrity model concept and only use actresses and later reality tv stars and influencers.
Galliano always gave each and every garment an entire history - character - he gave the clothing LIFE. before the models would appear on the runway seconds before, he would whisper to them only what they were feeling, who they were representing. Kate Moss mentioned he would always give them each a persona to take over. and you can see it, every single runway, collection. he created a world for the garments. from the beginning of getting inspired he would think of the perfume the character wore, her relationship with a loved one, mischief, sex, confidence and overall Gallianos creations were made to live.
It's regrettable that he didn't give more attention to ensuring Naomi's first dress was properly proper fitted instead of sending her out there in a high-dollar wardrobe malfunction. Naomi's a pro, but I seriously doubt she was pleased to have to continually adjust the straps and shift her walk so the bodice would ride back up.
This is SUCH an iconic, timeless, legendary show on sooooooooooo many levels. Models made fashion history (Linda in that now-famous canary yellow dress) out of this particular show. This is was Galliano at the ZENITH of his hottest years. Thanks for this upload
Linda enters the room and it's a magical moment, which makes you forget about all the other models and clothes She is beyond gorgeous and one can see that everybody is under a spell of unparalleled beauty, class and elegance.
Those male models.... so yummy... but besides no words can describe how brilliantly phenomenal this collection is... I miss John at Dior, I'd rather him over Maria...
For a few seconds, Linda acknowledges legendary Franca Sozzani, the Italian Vogue editor-in-chief, who loved her as much as Anna Wintour and any other big shot in the fashion industry. She does it in a very regal way but without any arrogance and the audience can't take their eyes off of her. LINDA, YOU ARE THE ONE AND ONLY STAR!!!
Galliano was all about vintage Couture! Fabulous Dior gowns and Vionnet bias cut dresses for the sophisticated Drag Queen! His best Drag versions were obviously at Dior itself.
Oddio che collezione . È arte all ‘ennesima potenza . Poi bisogna saperli portare .
When haute couture marries ready to wear and vintage embraces the mod squads then magic is blossomed.
Now it's clear to me that Naomi is vulgar simplicity, but models like Anneliese Seubert are true beauty and subtlety sophistication elegance, delicacy, exquisiteness :)
This was the era when models did more than just walk. ..They merchandised the collection...by creating moods...The industry today needs more of this
the last that I saw is Dsquared around 2000's doing such.
They cost too much and upstaged the clothes. That’s why designers themselves decided to phase out the celebrity model concept and only use actresses and later reality tv stars and influencers.
@@mrpartsHow so? These days there still are overpaid undeserving "supermodels"... Like Jenner, Hadid, etc

It's dresses like these that remind you how Galliano got the Dior job.

Yes, and Anna Piaggi, the fashion writer, to Sozzani's right in her trademark distinctive headwear - in this a huge, checked hat.
Did anyone else notice Tracy Ellis Ross in the audience taking pictures with her camera?
yes because her mother Diana Ross was a fan of Galliano and attended his shows.
Yes!

The Golden Age of fashion. Galliano is the greatest designer of all time.

Azzedine watching the girls come in is EVERYTHANG!!!! and is that Walter Mercado in the audience?
Galliano was all about vintage Couture! Fabulous Dior gowns and Vionnet bias cut dresses for the sophisticated Drag Queen! His best Drag versions were obviously at Dior itself.
That moment when Naomi comes out and Vogue Italia's editor breaks her game face and Anna Piaggi says, "Holup..Where's my shades..I'm blinded!
The showing of this collection was 1 of Galliano greatest

This runway show is like moving fashion editorial.
What a dream...
Galliano def drew back on this show for inspiration for later collections for his own label and Dior. Shame he's no longer at Dior...
