You can use 6 substitutes in gaa not 5. An at inter county senior level, like the examples shown each half is 35 minutes per half not 30 minutes .However 30 minutes a half is played in club junior and underage games.
The game you were watching was kerry vs donegal.Kerry has alot of skill while donegal.has great shot power you will probably never read this but I love the vids❤
That clip is just explaining the rules. It really is not showing you the game as a sport. It’s physical very skill full and professional levels of fitness
You gotta watch international rules.. the best Gaelic footballers against the best Aussie rules footballers. It's been cancelled now as it was way too rough. You should check it out.
The handpass in AFL and Gaelic Football are similar except that in gaelic you can hit the ball with the open hand whereas in AFL its the clenched fist only. This is an old video many new rules like black cards sin bins and marks have come in since.
Check out International rules, it's the best Gaelic players against the best AFL players, it used to be played once a year in a hybrid version of the two sports
Irish Immigrants brought Gaelic football to Australia and in turn, eventually, rules were adjusted, shape of ball was changed etc, in order to make it somewhat different to make it their national sport. What didn’t change was each country’s sport of drinking after a game.
There is a compromise sport called international rules football that is a mix of afl and gaelic so that gaa players and afl Players can have international comoetition. Gaelic football is more widely played than hurling
Similar to Australian Rules you mean ...AFL is the Australian Football League , the elite comp , not the name of the game itself but I do get your point and you are correct that there are there are similarities between the two games...
Not actually true, the codification of AFL occurred before Gaelic Football. If anything the reverse is true in that Gaelic Football was influenced by the Australian game.
@Tomoto man peach Actually yes that is 100% correct and people do know. This is fairly recent history. Rugby was a big influence because that had previously been very popular in Ireland, but when codifying the rules of Gaelic they looked to other football codes for inspiration. Particularly out of a desire to differentiate it from British sports, and so Australian football was one big influence.
And aye there is a lot of crossover between gaelic and AFL, there are quite a few Irish lads who go and play in Australia.
Yay I’m irish :-)
