Hi, the man formerly known as commenting is what I do, thank you for your comment. It is a sweet locomotive and although I cannot run it regularly due to it requiring minimum O72 curves I certainly do enjoy owning it. Thank you again. Bill
What you've been through, family health problems, giving up your baby because you had to move, starting a new layout. Along the way with your hobby you discovered a Holy Grail. And now you've tracked it down and have it in your hands! After all that, aren't you a lucky guy! It's beautiful and thanks for sharing it with us. 😀
Good morning, Randy. Thank you for your wonderful comment. There were some difficult elements to be overcome. The one thing I would say is that when the family health problem arose it very quickly made me recognize what things were truly important. Now that things are once again looking up, I have been able to ease up and reinvest in my hobby. In the big scheme of things as long as the health problem does not again raise its ugly head, life is better than before. I am a lucky guy! Bill B.
Bad news always finds you -' good news needs to be shared. Thank you for that. Our hobbies are really the icing on the cake but when the cake is tall and strong, the icing seems extra sweet. You're starting out on a new journey, a second life. I wish you and yours nothing but the best in the future. It was nice to have met you.
Hi bill b. I was surfing thru your previous videos and watched this one again. I liked it, especially with the bonus feature of those two 2328 pulling those postwar cars !
Hey, Jim, good afternoon! I am glad you enjoyed the video and especially the bonus feature at the end. Sometimes I just enjoy running my Post War trains and the two 2338 Milwaukee geeps are two of my favorites. I still have them and run them on occasion on the OM&S. Thank you, Jim, for the kind comment and I hope you are having a nice weekend! Bill
@@jameslanders4819 Yes, I had the same two in St. Joseph, but only one growing up. Received it for Christmas in 1956 or 57, can't remember which now. It was a while ago, lol! Bill
Hi BOBXFILES2374a, thank you for the "Congrats," it is much appreciated! You know, the locomotive was more expensive than some and less expensive than others, but certainly expensive enough. I believe there were only about 125 models made in 3-rail which explains at least in part why they are so hard to find in the market today. Despite the cost which was not outrageous I do feel lucky to be able to own it now. Thanks for watching the video and for your comment. Bill B.
Good morning, John! Yes, I have to agree finding the S-1a was pretty cool. I could hardly believe it. And not only that, but I also found a B&O Q-4b, which had been my first 3rd Rail locomotive and one of my very favorite locomotives to run. I appreciate the congrats! Thank you and take care. Bill B.
Congratulations on your find. It's beautiful. I'm 56 and I believe a hard working man should treat himself to something special like this great engine.
Hi Joey, thank you for stopping by. I appreciate you and your comment. Now I have to confess, that it has been a little bit since I was a "hard working man," but I do like the line and will add it to my repertoire and use it should the need arise. Thank you for the comment and I hope you're having a good weekend! Bill B.
Sounds great to me Bill B. Very heartwarming story. It is wonderful you were able to find and obtain your Holy Grail. So much model railroading history. Thanks for sharing. Chris
Hey, good morning, Chris! Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the story. I was so surprised to find it, especially in such nice condition that I really was taken back. I feel very lucky. You have really made some nice progress on you railroad. Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway Thanks Bill B, I am making progress slowly. Today I was drawing centerlines for the tracks. I also started cutting and forming the Gargraves track and aligning the switches.
@@Nathan5Chime Sounds good Chris, I am glad your finding the time to work on your railroad. I believe it is going to be very nice as you go along. I enjoy seeing the progress and will stay tune. Bill
Your welcome we enjoy it.When we get to our age with think about our motrtality. Beuatiful story and glad you were able to find it. That engine is gorgoues i am jealous now.
Good morning, Elk River Trains! I am glad you enjoyed the video. I believe you are right about our mortality, it is hard not to sometimes, though I must admit I try not to think any more about it than I have to. With a little encouragement from a fellow UA-camr, I decided I wanted to share our story with the channel's subscribers. It is a gorgeous locomotive and I do feel lucky to have found it. Thank you and take care. Bill B.
Hello Zinnia Adkins, I appreciate your watching and commenting on the video! It is a beautiful locomotive and I feel very fortunate to be able to own it. Thank you again! Bill B.
Hi Frank, yep, I agree with you. Trainz has really been a valuable asset to the train community. I hope they continue to do well and are with us a very long time. Bill B.
Thank you, Kyle! It is an impressive locomotive and I have been so thrilled with having found I still am on cloud 9. Thank you for your comment. Bill B.
Thank you, Zendo Argos! You're right, it is a special feeling to hold that piece you believed you would likely never have in your hands. Pretty cool. Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. Bill B.
Hey, luvindemtrains, I appreciate your stopping by and commenting. I'm glad you liked seeing some of the old railroad. The cameras have really improved since that footage was shot. I have been watching some of your progress on your railroad and you are doing great! I appreciate you! Hope you are having a good weekend. Bill B.
Hi Brendan's Trains! Yes, the S-1a is a very cool locomotive for sure. If you "google" 3rd Rail Division of Sunset Models you can check out their current and proposed future models. The one thing you have to be careful about 3rd Rail locomotives is to keep in mind that they often times require a wider radius curve than typical scale Lionel or MTH locomotives. They do make some very nice equipment though. Thank you for watching the video and for commenting! Bill B.
@@brendanstrains9725 Hi Brendan's Trains. No my train room is relatively small and I designed the OM&S to have the features I most wanted. One of the things I had to compromise on was the curve radii and I was and am okay with that. My last railroad as seen in the video had much broader curves and I was able to run much larger steam locomotives. The OM&S is set in the time frame of 1955-1975 and motive power is 1st and second generation diesels. I like the S-1a just as she is sitting on a top shelf where I can look at her everyday. I think perhaps when I do my next update I may include a brief tour of the railroad as it is right now and talk a bit about the setting for the railroad. Have a good day. Bill B.
Hi Jamie, thanks she is a beauty. As the B&O S-1a is a 2-10-2 and as such will not negotiate my O36 curves/switches. I am just happy to have this chance to own it. She is in L/N condition, and I really don't want to do anything to take away from that. I enjoy seeing her on the bookcase (top shelf I might add) everyday. Enjoyed your video this afternoon abut chasing 2102. She too is a really beautiful locomotive. Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway thanks Bill! She is absolute stunning to see in person. I'll definitely be filming her again this year, and now I'm trying to find her in N scale. Your B&O is lovely, and enjoying her on display is just fine too. I've been starting to get some of my dad's old HO stuff which to me are family heirlooms. For now they are just going to be display pieces too.
Hi, Xtream Attitude, appreciate you stopping by and commenting! I like the Rock Island as well and live close to Rock Island territory although the tracks have now been removed. I'm glad you were able to find that Bicentennial E8. It definitely feels good when you finally can put your hands on it. Thanks again! Bill B.
This is probably your best video to date Bill. So sorry you guys had some rough times, but I guess we all eventually have to go through those sorts of things. Such a beautiful story about how you started a new chapter and the discovery of this train and what it means to you. It is gorgeous and I am sure you will enjoy it for years to come.
Thank you, MESA-East Model Railroad, I really appreciate your thoughtful comment. Yes, those were scary times, but so good so far. Mary really loves our new home and I have nothing to complain about. Finding the S-1a was a real bonus for me. The interesting thing is that at the same time I found the S-1a I found the little Q-4b 2-8-2 which had been a favorite and the locomotive I had missed the most since moving. Bill B.
Hi Adam, I am glad you watched the video and appreciate your comment! Yes, I agree she is a beauty and I really never imagined that I was going to have the chance to own one. You just never know. Thanks again, Bill B.
Yes! 3rd Rail! I can see now why it was so difficult to come by... amazing story Bill. So happy things have turned out so well and you are sharing your new adventure with us! Thank you, my friend. T4
Good morning, T4. I was going to write you this morning thanking you for encouraging me to make the video. I wanted to write you sooner, but my focus had turned to making the video so that was what I was up too. I do owe you a debt of gratitude for nudging me along. Yes, this has been the adventure and it was the right one for us. Mary really loves our new home. We just have to count our blessings! Thank you, T4. I hope you have a great day. Bill
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway I was very pleasantly surprised to see such a well done unboxing video so quickly! This one really deserves as many views as your Southern set video. Thanks. T4
@@tinytowntrainstv Well T4, you do have to remember that siting in that box was my holy grail. How long did you expect me to just let that box sit there unopened, lol. Essentially, my own desire to actually see the S-1a, compelled me to get going on the video once I had decided to make it. What made this video a little easier was that the story had already been written for me. I just had to figure out how best I could tell it. As far as views go, I really do not know what to expect. Did you see that for the first time I included an End Screen? I'm kind of proud about that. I finished the one structure I had been working on and may start the other one I have shortly. May also try my hand at making a video of the process. It would just about have to be a multi-part video. If left to my own natural tendencies I am sure I could turn the video into another one of my epic feature length films, lol. But I will try not too! Have a good rest of your weekend, T4. Bill
Bill, finding the holy grail locomotive is an awesome find. The gotta have is a feel good accomplishment to you story. Thanks for sharing. We’ll done. 👍😊
Hi Ron, glad you stopped by and watched the video. You know we sometimes do what it is we think is necessary for the right reason, but the action can also leave a little bit of an open wound. I'm an old Marine and can act pretty tough when I have to, lol, but I don't think I had ever been so scared as when we had to deal with that medical issue and to be honest while Mary is in remission, I still am aware of the risk. I sold my railroad to get things moving so I could sell the house and give her that new adventure she wanted. I'd do it again. But now that we have relocated, and the situation is looking up, I have quietly been picking up some of my most favorite locomotives and bringing them back home. And finding the 3rd Rail S-1a, "the Big Six" was icing on the cake. Glad you stopped by, Ron, and thank you for the comment. Happy railroading! Bill B.
Bill, she’s a beautiful engine!! Congratulations on finding the locomotive of your dreams!! I wish you a lot of fun with it and years of great service on your rails. I’m very happy for you. Way to go!
Hi Tom, thank you for watching the video and commenting on my finding the locomotive. One of the reasons I originally kind of balked on purchasing the locomotive was that while it would have been perfect for my last railroad, it will not negotiate the O36 curves of the OM&S. She is now siting on my bookcase and I am loving it. Thanks again. Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway I totally understand that. I have a couple of locomotives I love that I have in display cases on a shelf to look at myself. It’s comforting.

Good morning, Tim and thank you for the kind words. Well, finding the S-1a and the much smaller Q-4b that was in the other box was really special and I wanted to share it with the subscribers to the channel. I have been working on the railroad and do hope to put together an update soon. Thanks again! Bill B.

I am glad you enjoyed the video taken on the earlier railroad. Take care my friend. I love the work you are doing on your railroad. Keep having fun with it. Bill B
Thanks Alco Power, I appreciate your watching the video and commenting. Yep, she is a beauty! Although my current focus in on the mid-Western railroads, I spend at least a little time looking at her each day! Matter a fact the OM&S is all about diesel power. Not many Alcos I am sad to say, but Lionel is coming out I believe this year with a Alco R27. Not many were made I understand, but I hope to give them a presence on the OM&S. Thank you, again! Bill B.
Thank you, Corey! Finding the locomotive was special to me and I feel lucky to have been able to purchase it. I may one day find a circumstance that will allow me to run the S-1a, but as of now she will sit on display. You have to remember that the OM&S has O36 curves. Thanks again, Corey. Bill B.
Hey, ScottyRock Trains, thank you! I appreciate your very kind words. I am really glad you liked the video! Hope the remainder of your weekend is a good one. Thanks again, Bill B.
Very nice engine Bill. Brass trains are very nice. I’ve become interested in them since finding out about Right of Way Industries. What’s great about this hobby is finding something that’s rare whether it be an engine or a piece of rolling stock.
Hi Hunter! thank you for your comment. I too enjoy the brass locomotives. My limited experience with them as been with those made by 3rd Rail. They are very nice indeed. I don't know that I really have much that is rare. Some of my pieces in my locomotive roster (mostly diesels) have a little age on them, but if you look around you can usually find them. Especially with the Lionel locomotives I find that some of the older model pieces frequently become available as folks part with them for newer versions of the same or similar locomotive. As 3rd Rail does not generally repeat production of their models, some of them can be tough to find so it is rewarding when you do indeed latch on to one. Thanks again. Bill
Congratulations on finding and acquiring both of those engines! The S1-A looks awesome and hopefully you can run it someday at a club meeting or another layout. This was a great video and I am glad you took the time to share it with us! The bonus footage was also excellent and once again we see the double lash up of postwar GP7s on a beautiful layout. It is great to see those run! I think that your new layout is spectacular and that although it is smaller, it will be as good or better than the last one in every way!
Hi Darin, great to hear from you. Yes, I am a pretty lucky fellow to find not only the B&O S-1a, but then also the Q-4b. The Q-4b, a little 2-8-2, was a B&O mainstay and the model of it was my first brass locomotive. As it turned out it was a great runner and a favorite in my collection. Interestingly enough, what I found after disposing of my collection and all, was that I was more attached to some of my locomotives in particular than I knew. So, over the course of time I have sought out a few of my favorites. I kind of look at it like, I may have had to sacrifice them for the mission at hand, but now, like a good old Marine, I did not forget and now I am bringing at least some of them back home. Yeah, I know I sound like an old sentimentalist and perhaps am, lol. But it is fun to have found a few of my old favorites like the Q-4b. I hope you are doing well. I do want to talk with you the next time we have a chance. Dennis has asked me to kind of be responsible for our club's FB page and I would like to talk with you a bit about that. Perhaps you have some advice/tips. Thanks again for stopping by and commenting on my video, Darin, it is much appreciated. Bill

I was born in C&O territory. Again, thank you for the comment. I hope you will stay tuned to the channel. Take care. Bill B.
Thanks Roger, it is a beautiful locomotive! Unfortunately, due to its 2-10-2 wheel arrangement it is to large to operate on the OM&S with its O36 curves and switches. I knew that at the time I purchased it. I became interested in the locomotive when I was building an earlier railroad that focused on the mid-Atlantic region. Thanks for stopping by Roger, much appreciated. Bill B.

I got my holy grail last year, its the ho scale brass KTM Trevithick locomotive. Only 200 where ever made, I had to battle for it in a online live auction, and I refused to back down until I was the winner as the price got higher and higher... Needed some re assembly and still needs some repairs to the paint work, but it runs well and is complete. I have hunted for it since 2013, I was 18. Over that time I only seen 4 come up for sale (that's including mine). You can find a running video of it, I plan to shoot a better one, but afaik, its the ONLY video available on the internet of this model, just getting pictures is limited as it is.

Congratulations on finding your holy grail locomotive, Bill. It's a fantastic steamer but I don't know if you will be able to run it on your actual layout due to the curves you have on it. It's been interesting to know the story behind this locomotive. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Hi Albersala, good of you to stop by. I appreciate the comment and you are right the B&O S-1a being a 2-10-2 was perfect for my last railroad, but it will never negotiate the OM&S's O36 curves. That is why in part I began to balk, but when I told Mary I wanted the locomotive and she responded, no, you need it. We both laughed and the rest is history. It is now sitting on my bookcase looking very majestic and I smile every time i look at it. Thanks again, Albersala. Take care. Bill B.

Thanks, Old Frail and Decrepit, I very much appreciate your comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I have not really thought about doing a video on the other locomotive. I bought it as well as it was my very first 3rd Rail brass locomotive and one of the locomotives, I most enjoyed running on the old railroad. It was kind of a like an old friend. I had to let it go, but like a good Marine, I never forgot it and I brought it back home. Thanks again! Bill B.
Great Video Bo. Congrats on a great find. I saw your other video at the train meet, with you running your postwar trains. It does my heart good to see that you hung on to the postwar trains. I loved the Bonus Feature at the end of this video. I know that you are unable to run that 2-10-2 on your layout, but if you ever plan a road trip that brings you close to my neck of the woods, let me know and be sure to bring that model with you to run on my layout. Here's to hoping that you and Mary are doing well. Take care cause I care.
Man Rick it is good to hear from you! Thanks for checking the video out. I guess I just figured now that you have been featured in CTT you would not have time for us little guys. Yes, Mary and I are doing well and I trust you are doing the same. I did hang on to a little of my post war and I have also picked up a few additional pieces here and there. Hi Glenn, I'm glad you checked out the video and liked it. While honestly, I focus on the more modern equipment as my railroad the OM&S is set in the 1950's to 1970's I have not forgotten my Post War roots. Thanks again. I do appreciate the comment. Bill B.
Thanks Bo! That is a nice locomotive! I love all the detail, especially back in the cab. You mentioned it would not have run on your last railroad and I wondered why. Also, what's the other one look like? I guess I'll have to stay tuned. Much appreciated!
Hi Bryan, I may have misspoken as I was building my former railroad when 3rd Rail introduced the S-1a and I was unable to latch on to one at that time (around 2005 or so). There were only about 125 3-rail models made. What I wanted to communicate was that the S-1a being a 2-10-2 would not negotiate the O36 curves on my current railroad, the Ozark Midland & Southern. It requires a O54 minimum radius curve. It is for that reason that the S-1a is currently displayed on my bookcase. The other locomotive in the box was a 3rd Rail B&O Q-4b which I did have on the former railroad and subsequently sold. It was a favorite so now that we have relocated to our new home, I bought another one. I guess you could say I missed it. Thanks, Bryan, for watching the video and asking the questions. I do hope you will continue to stay tune for future developments. Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway gotcha on the radius aspect. That was a beautiful line. I’m glad you were able to part with it whole. The new railroad is looking great as per your usual. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication to modeling.
Good evening, Conn653, yes, a fantastic locomotive in any scale is a great thing indeed. I was started out in Lionel many years ago and later got involved in HO. Around the early 2000's I settled back into O gauge because that was where I most enjoyed the hobby. All of the different gauges/scales have a lot to offer. Thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. Very much appreciated! Bill B.
Richard, thank you for watching the video and for your comment. Mary and I went through a very difficult time. She is now in remission and doing well, and consequently so am I. With the OM&S now well underway and having found many new friends in the hobby I am once again very excited every day to go down to the train room. Although I know longer model the B&O it was a real treat to find the “Big Six.” There is not hardly a day that goes by without my at least glancing at what is my most treasured model. Thank you again Richard! Bill B.

Congratulations on finding your holy grail! She looked great running on Jason's layout! Loved the footage of your old layout too! When was it in CTT? I'm still looking for my holy grail. I've been searching for the powered MTH Katy SD40-2's in green.
Good morning, Ricky! Sorry I have not responded sooner to your comment. I spent much of yesterday finishing up on my Trainapalooza video that will publish later today. Thank you, for the congratulations. I had been looking for the S1a model for a number of years when the B&O was a prime interest. Never did find it at the time. There were only I believe 175 3-rail models made so generally speaking they do not show up in the 2nd hand market very often. So, years later, after I have relocated and begun work on a new smaller railroad, I am finally able to pick one up. Well as you know I am still tickled to have it. I'd not run it since buying it so knowing the size of Jason's railroad, I took it with me and sure enough thanks to Jason, it got some good run time. My Mid Atlantic Railway System (MARS), was featured in the January 2015 CTT. The cover shot was also taken on the layout by Dennis Brennan after we (primarily Dennis) modified the scene to a winter scene specifically for the cover of that issue. Working with Dennis was another model train highlight for me. He is both a model craftsman and a photographer. Real good guy. With regard to the MTH MKT SD40-2, just keep looking, if it is out there, I bet you will find one. Take care. Bill B.
WOW Bill very cool.! Beautiful.! I know I would hate to sell all of my trains but we do what we have to do. I really enjoyed the story of your old layout. I wish I had video of my railroad from 20 years ago. That is a fantastic looking model Bill.! Sunset models are beautiful. Can't wait to see it run.! The bonus footage was awesome.! Is that your old layout from 2000s? Really beautiful.! You know some times I'm just not in the mood for the trains myself and putting forth the effort to make a video. When it's work or has to be done it's tends to be no longer fun.! Trainz with a Z is awsome.! Thanks for sharing your prize with us.!👍Mark😀
I say Wow, yourself, Mark, that is a wonderful comment! Where to start? Mark, I agree with you that one would think they would hate to sell their trains, but when a loved one is involved in a life and death situation what really matters takes on a deeper meaning. I did not know at the time what direction things were going to go. What I did know was that I wanted to give my wife at least one new adventure. I have though, and my wife understands, that after the fact, it has at times been painful and at times, I experienced bouts of grief. I learned that in a sense my railroad and the trains had always been a part of the family as funny as that might sound. I will also tell you that since that time I have replaced a few of my past favorite locomotives. I never dreamed I would actually come across the B&O S-1a 2-10-2 and then it happened. I about fell out of my seat. Sunset 3rd Rail really did do a great job with the S-1a, but they typically do. I love Lionel trains, but I came to really appreciate the work of Scott Mann and 3rd Rail. Yes, Mark, all of the model railroad footage is of the old railroad. If I remember correctly, it was 13' x 43' with a small "L" at one end. It was a very nice space. Except for a couple spur tracks the minimum radius for curves and switches was O72. And I too really enjoy Trainz! Thank you again Mark for the thoughtful comment. I appreciate you! Oh, and about being in the mood for trains and video making, I absolutely understand. I think I mentioned in the video that I was burning out, losing steam is how I may have put it. Something I have learned over time is that I have to work to keep things in balance. It is good to push once in a while, but you do not want to make your hobby work. After I retired I kind of did that (turned the hobby into work) and at first it was just fine, I made a lot of progress, but after a while it was detrimental to both my enjoyment of the hobby and to me, I believe. Enjoy the hobby and don't feel bad if you feel you need to slow down or step back for a bit. That's how I feel about it now. Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway The model railroad community out here is really fantasic.! It's a real pleasure watching and learning from others like you.! Thanks for letting me know about the BIG layout.! A large L layout like that would and is in my head with my switch yard. I really hope it will happen some day? The time you spent editing in all your old clips from the past is greatly apreciated.! WELL DONE Bill.!👍
Hi Johnny James, thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your commenting. I do enjoy live steam, but honestly know little about the ins and outs of it, so I'll have to take your word for it. I would think when it comes to live steam which is special, the bigger the better. Thanks again! Bill B.
Thank you, Douglas, I appreciate your watching the video and commenting! I am glad you enjoyed the bonus Post War footage. One of these days I'll do the same on my current railroad, the OM&S, once I get more of the scenery in place. Bill B.
LOL, yes, and the excitement has continued for the last 49 years I might add. I was pretty excited to see that B&O 2-10-2, but it paled to my excitement on that special night. Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. Bill B.
I read a interesting ghost story about this type of locomotive.Seems there was a young man walking down the tracks.Off in the distance he heard a train whistle. He stopped for a minute. Then went back to walking. He heard the whistle again. But this time it was closer. He heard it again but this time it sounded like a steam locomotives. He turned around and saw a headlight getting brighter and the tracks started to rumble. He got off the tracks and hid behind a bush.Whst came into view was a B&O big six.Train stopped the crew had a ghostly blue glow to them. One got off and looked like he throwing a switch.Man got back on the train.Fireman opened the firebox.Whst he heard were screams. What sounded like people being burned alive.Train started moving again and just disappeared.Young man filled with terror ran back home. When he got back home the family could see.He was so upset and scared. They asked him what was wrong with him.He just kept it to him self.
Hi Eric, thank you for sharing the wonderful story! It was very intriguing and compelling. Such a thing would indeed be very scary! Thank you again and take care. Bill B.
@Ozark Midland & Southern Railway On another note where I live.In monroe nc.My first school was right next to the Seaboard Air line railroad/Seaboard coast line. I gonna give my age away here. But I recall only two poles with the railroad cross buck signs.I also would see wooden gondola car with steel bracing. And fast freight pulled by 6 or 7 gp9 and gp7.There was alot of the railroad heralds still on boxcars.Later on the railroad crossing got the lights and bells.A bit later on the bigger locomotives started showing up.The SD45 SD 40-2 and GE U33C.I wished I had taken pictures. As for steam Seaboard had light Mike's called Q3. They had pumps on the front.Next were the mountain type that burned coal and some where converted over to burn oil.Last but not least The R1 class which were 2'-6-6-4.If your interested in taking a look at o gauge trains.Go to 889ts I had trains upto 42 boxcars.I lived in a mobile home for a bit.Or you can go to eric oxner. Where I have more videos.Yea I am known as a train frantic of my family.
@@ericoxner8333 I lived in NC for a bit back in the 70's. When I had time, I would typically go to the beach or head to the mountains. NC is a beautiful state. Did I mention, hot in the summer, lol. Thank you for sharing about your remembrances regarding the ACL and SCL. Much appreciated. " Yea I am known as a train frantic of my family." Yes, well, every family should have at least one, lol. I' ll check out your channel this evening. Bill
@Ozark Midland & Southern Railway Come to think of it.I did see a lot of ACL boxcars. There was one train that would come out of Charlotte every friday. This train had 3 or 4 SD 45 pulling long mixed freight. But this train always had two cuts of flatcar carrying jhondear and international tractor. There was a fuel crisis going on.When waiting for a long train.Everybody would shut there motor off until the caboose showed up.Then you would hear everybody cragging their cars up.
@Ozark Midland & Southern Railway This story kind sent a chill down my spine.Ghoast story about trains have been around for years. How ever you don't hear about what kind of locomotives. And being these locomotives were real.
Hi Rick, no it does not have LED’s. I am not really sure when the use of LED’s for lighting began, but the S-1a was produced/released in 2004. I really am pleased to have found one. There is another one being offered on eBay right now. Bill B.
LOL, ianrsigel, I had not thought of my video or the S-1a quite that way, but your comment made me chuckle. Thank you for watching the video and for your comment! Both much appreciated! Bill B.
Hi Frank, good morning! Well. it wasn't quite that bad, lol, but I agree it was not easy. That is why I asked some friends to do it for me. I just posted a couple of photos of the old railroad just this morning on the Channel's "Community" page that you might enjoy seeing. The OM&S has now filled the void. Have a nice weekend. Bill
Hi John, I'm glad you enjoyed it. By in large it was a fun video to make. It did have a happy ending. I enjoy building things too. I am not a scratch builder or a real craftsman, but I do enjoy building kits. I just finished building one structure and have another one in the hopper. I may try to do a video(s) as I build this next kit. It does seem that our hobby really is all about building. I hope your day is a good one. Bill B.
@@johnknopfle1920 Well, John, just take your time and do your best. Just let it be fun. The only judge that count is you! Good luck with the new layout. I'd enjoy hearing about your progress if you would enjoy sharing it. Bill B.
Hi, Bubba HoTep. Honestly, I believe the story is told in the video although perhaps in a disjointed way. I tried to make the video interesting as I told the story. Well anyway, in short, the “Big Six” locomotive was a mainstay of the B&O during the steam era. The B&O was one of the roads I modeled on my previous railroad. A model of the “Big Six” was produced in very small quantity by Sunset 3rd Rail and I missed purchasing when the model was released. Over the years I search high and low for one of the models without success. Because the model had alluded me for so long it became my collector’s holy grail. So years later, after the railroad had been sold and disassembled sure enough I came across one. As you could see in the video I was ecstatic. I hope that helps to answer your inquiry. Bill
I'm happy to see you finally got your holy grail

Hi bill b. I was surfing thru your previous videos and watched this one again. I liked it, especially with the bonus feature of those two 2328 pulling those postwar cars !
Hey, Jim, good afternoon! I am glad you enjoyed the video and especially the bonus feature at the end. Bill B.

Very cool find Bill - especially after all those years. Congrats & enjoy! Best, John
Bill B.

That is a very cool locomotive! I have never seen one of those before in o scale I didn’t even know they made them in o scale!
Bill B.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway thanks! I don’t have any 3rd rail locomotives I have mostly Lionel and MTH so I didn’t know if they needed wider curves.
@@ozarkmidlandsouthernrailway will you get larger curves to run the S1a?
Bill B.

Bill B.

Bill

Beautiful locomotive with awesome detailing on locomotive and tender. What a great addition to your layout.
Bill B.

Thank you, Grey Fox Trains, it was special finding the locomotive and the funny thing is I almost did not make the video. A friend encouraged me and so I decided to make it. I'm very to see that you found it and got your hands on it
Hi Charles Bolduc, it is pretty special, and I feel really lucky to own it. Thank you for watching and commenting! Much appreciated!
Hello. ziplocBag's, Roblox and model railroading videos, thank you for sharing your story about your acquisition of the "ho scale brass KTM Trevithick locomotive." I had never seen a model of the first steam locomotive. For being so small it's a very impressive model and it works! Thank you for watching the video and for your comment. Bill B.

Hi, Alex, good evening and thank you! Yes, I feel very fortunate to be able to have found one in such great shape. I took it to Detroit to run it at last year’s Trainapalooza event and she performed flawlessly. Very pleased! 😀 Thanks again. Bill

Finding the 2-10-2 was just a stroke of luck and I feel very fortunate to have been able to purchase it. Take care, Rick! Best always. Bo
Liked the video. Love the postwar bonus feature!
I'm not a fan of 'O' gauge but the 2-10-2 looks fantastic! Couldn't see your mustache due your fantastic smile!
Bill B.
Thank you for telling your story

There was a fuel crisis going on.When waiting for a long train.Everybody would shut there motor off until the caboose showed up.Then you would hear everybody cragging their cars up.

holy grail tell the story
Bill
