I will always contend this was the best Resistance game. Best story, best world- hell, whilst the visuals weren't as nice as 3, this game's visual style was much more consistent with the era and the hybridised alien elements. The sense of isolation and horror much stronger, too. I also miss when single player games had co-op in the early 7th gen...
I think a good way to sum it up is to say that the first one has more of a “mid-20th century b-movie” feel while the second has a “modern Hollywood blockbuster” feel. The latter is certainly visually impressive, but the former is more down-to-earth and personal in a weird way. I even like how Nathan Hale doesn’t talk during gameplay in the first one because then you get to feel like you and he really are the same person in the story.
For me, Resistance 3 was the best, but FoM is a close second. R2 in third, then Burning Skies and then Retribution. I just didn’t like that PSP game and not because it wasn’t a first person shooter.
On the original PS3, the low FoV prevents you from seeing things like the fact that Insomniac went to the trouble to actually animate your player character loading a new grenade into the Folsom Carbine's grenade launcher. Quite an admirable attention to detail on their part. That was the same era in which Treyarch was still lowering revolvers off-screen during per-round reloads as they didn't bother to animate inserting individual cartridges into the weapon.
@@SonySupporter Mate, how can you not see it? The atmosphere, the aesthetic of the fictional weapons, the HUD and crosshair, even the atmosphere. Also, the Shotgun has both single and double shots like HL's Shotguns.
Not used to seeing Resistance 1 with an FOV that doesn't feel puke inducing. I'm dying to know what Resistance 2 and 3 look like with increased FOVs as well.
Been playing Resistance of late, so this timing is quite something - didn't replay Fall of Man though, so this is appreciated. Also 4:01 - damn you can tell it's an emulator, that gun is real rough on the framerate
Dude this game using ps5 controller would be dope! Sony crying for not having cod, when they have resistance, socom and killzone! Cod has been in the mud from a long time.
I remember when I got my PS3 and was playing this game I was still using a CRT TV. Wish they would remaster this... hell it doesn't even need any real remastering just a port running at 4K 60HZ.

I knew I played with the reapers,dragons flame thrower,splitter,arc charger and the back lash grenade when I first played the game but I can’t find these weapons anymore I had all of them when I played the game a long time now that I’m replaying it I just can’t find them can anyone help me?
It deeply disappointed me that Sony refuses to remake or port these games, and fought tooth-and-nail to keep Call of Duty.

They turned Resistance into CoD, so it seems like Sony Corporate didn't want a game with super crazy weapons when generic will do.
And it was all for naught for them, as they failed spectacularly. Now Microsoft owns CoD.

I recommend the Ratchet & Clank games, also made by Insomniac. The series is renowned for their weapons.

You can enable Extended FOV and unlocked FPS for every Resistance game on RPCS3.

Yeah somehow heat haze effect from weapons or chimera ships engine, has a big impact on the framerate. From 60 to around 40.
Im replaying the first and i think you should Replay it, it still holds up pretty well and its the best game of the franchise
