Alright, I will say it. I believe you guys should create a Tribal People Cook channel. This way, they can learn how to make these foods and we can watch the process. Perhaps viewers can even send recipes for the channel to try cooking.
Yeah the problem with that is most of these people aren't going to have access to those ingredients what they should do is a show where they show them how to make versions of these things with local ingredients
you need to show how maple syrup is tapped from real trees, then boiled down & bottled, then POUR onto pancakes. Show then how easy it is to make a pancake
We put butter and maple syrup on our pancakes. Their instinct to put butter on was correct! 👍 Vermont maple syrup is also considered the best in America. They even have maple candy which is made out of maple sugar and melts in your mouth. Super good!
I wish we could explain a few things that always seem to puzzle them. For instance, the pancakes are made with a batter (similar to cake batter) - not from a dough (as bread or roti is). You take this thin ‘cake batter’ and fry it in a pan so you have “Pancakes”. Another thing that they seem to wonder about are the strange (or long) names give to a recipe. In America, many times a recipe’s name tells you what to expect. Rather than giving a certain dish some 1-word coined name, we tell you what it’s made of. Example - Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato Sandwich. By it’s name we understand that it contains bacon, lettuce, tomato and putting those between 2 slices of bread makes it a sandwich, so that’s it’s name.
yes, i wish sir would have told them the pan-cake is a "cake" made in a pan 😆 then maybe they could even figure out a way to make a similar version with what they have at their disposal
You need to show them a video of them putting the taps in maple trees to extract the sap that's made into maple syrup! They will be amazed to see that this comes from a tree. They'll be even more surprised to see how natural it is!
Hi guys, I'm glad you enjoyed the pancakes with maple syrup, but I also eat them with butter and cane syrup (preferably Steen's from Abbeville Louisiana) also jam goes well on pancakes as well as honey.
We used to put Apple sauce on our pancakes when I was a kid. I guess mom thought we didn't need the extra sugar from syrup. I still like Apple sauce on my pancakes!
Babu's wondered if they could have pancakes together with mutton and curry. Why not? That would make an Indian style crepe (perhaps with a minor change to the receipe - a sweet pancake won't do).
I'm from Québec so maple syrup runs in my DNA. I eat maple bacon in the morning and i've been surviving on a holidays diet of maple syrup ham and maple flavored yule log cake lately. I also have a 100+ year old maple tree in my yard, it's more than 3 storeys high. Yes, showing them the process of making maple syrup and a sugar shack experience is a good idea ❤
They are treating the syrup as if it is so precious, and I love that! So many kids in the US just pour half the bottle on their pancakes though so it's also funny. Also Babu's "The video is over. now listen to my son." LOL love the confidence!
Once tall man "fuss bucket" acquiesces and let's himself be unafraid, he gets it... But yikes, how the other two manage patience with him, we can enjoy the others enjoying their culinary surprise!!
Glad you enjoyed pancakes and syrup. Hearing your comparisons of things that taste good together makes me think of other things. Beans and cornbread are also a tasty combo. Most people eat them with onion and tomato slices, as they compliment each other.
We in North America normally put butter (or margarine) on pancakes in addition to the syrup. Using jam/jelly is an alternative to using syrup. Pancakes can also be eaten with whipped cream and fruit (such as strawberries).
I like my pannenkoeken with bacon, cheese and apple - no stroop needed. My favorite Amsterdam spot is The Pancake Bakery, which is just down the street from the Anne Frank Huis.
No. It's not sugar syrup or honey from bees. Maple trees are tapped to gather the tree's sap & then boiled down to make it thicker and concentrate the tiny bit of sweetness in the tree's sap. Sap from maple trees has a very special flavor different from other trees sap. Very very few **kinds** of trees have a sap that can be food.
I think host is not sure about maple tree and how the syrup is processed I live in India, in my state kerala there is coconut tree sap available,, known as toddy. It is tedious processes.
Might suggest to the creator/producer he show a quick clip from one of the "how maple syrup is made' videos on UA-cam and pair it with these eating and discussing segments so they know more what's what.
@@philipmervin6967 Thanks for the info. I had heard of "toddy" but unusually for me, my curiosity hadn't ever taken me to research it's source or uses.
@2:20 I agree with her. I tear and dip my pancake into syrup. Or I make smaller circles. The pancakes are served with a scoop of butter on top, which adds to the enjoyment. The reason it's called a pan cake is because it's a batter similar to that of a cake but cooked in a pan. A very similar batter is used in a waffle iron and are therefore called waffles. A similar thinner batter is used to make french crepes. The batter is poured into a pan and swirled around.
This is where this channel is lacking as compared to some others. It would have meant so much more if they'd explained how maple syrup is made-that's what makes it magical. They didn't even bother explaining the name 'pancake'. I'm sure its fun for them to guess but give them the correct info at some point. You can see the wheels turning in her head to recreate pancakes at home.
Can you suggest some other channels in a similar vein? I've been a fan of this channel for a long time now, but it seems like Sir still hasn't learned this somehow, and every other video feels like a letdown since they stopped showing them as much science-related content. I really love watching people learn who wouldn't typically be presented with said opportunity, but I can't count how many times I've commented something like what you just said by now, and I'm tired of watching them wonder pointlessly because they never get proper explanations. It's fun for the start of the video, but it really sucks when they come away from it with questions, or worse, some straight nonsense based on Sir not presenting the topic properly or explaining it after they ask questions.

There are 3 I follow pretty closely: Trybals, Tribal People Try, and Reactistan. Trybals does reaction videos and focuses more on the human experience and comparing different cultures. Tribal People Try is similar to this channel in that there are a lot of food reactions, but they do more explaining and discussion of the food's origin; they also will try out new products or gifts sent to them by viewers in other parts of the world. Reactistan also focuses on food, but they're raising money to start a school for girls. One thing I like about Reactistan is that they also have a vlog channel where you can see the behind-the-scenes stuff, and they do things like take us along to visit the villagers in their home. Recently, they helped an older participant on the channel get to Saudi Arabia to participate in Hajj, which he wouldn't have been able to do without the support from the channel.
Lots of people eat pancakes with flavored syrup like raspberry , strawberry , blueberry, and still others with butter and honey…… some even put jellies and jam with any of these you can’t go wrong
Canadians, especially those in Quebec use maple sugar in many recipes, and also have Maple festivals. No doubt the Villagers would be amazed by that, especially how Canadians make maple toffee by pouring boiling hot maple syrup directly from the maple shack onto buttered cake pans that have been placed on freezing cold, fresh white snow. It's beautiful, and delicious.
So my grandmother rest her soul used to make a strawberry fig preserve that was amazing. Made a massive batch and stored it all in mason jars in the pantry. We used to take that, smear it all over a pancake, smear peanut butter over another one, puttem together like a P+B&J, pad of butter on top and then maple syrup all over. Oh my god it was great.
*Pancakes with clarified butter AND syrup is the best!! You most certainly can fold the pancake, and dip into syrup cup and I've done that often, ma'am. They are easy to prepare, if the mix is sent to you. Eggs and milk added to flour with salt, and can be made as roti is made, though the batter is thinner than roti dough. You can add blueberries into the batter, too!*
The procedure is as follows you poured a syrup from the bottle right onto the pancakes as much as you want a lot of people put a lot of syrup on the pancakes then use the fork cut pieces off of the pancake and eat it they also put butter on the hot pancakes or melts
I agree it is very LIKE a roti, but doesn't have the crispy/chewy factor, they are so fluffy, like the inside of white western bread. Maple syrup is quite good, but it is simply a sugar syrup made from maple sap instead of sugar cane sap. It has more flavors in it than sugar syrup, and a very pleasant scent. I'm so happy to see you try it, and put your own spin on it. I'd like to see how the people on the panel went home and introduced it in their own way. We also use fruit, jam, etc.
I like the lady very much and Uncle B. is fantastic but where is the little young guy? I liked seeing a really young guy learning about the wider world.
Glad they enjoyed it. You definitely should've given them forks and napkins for this one though. Maple syrup is very sticky and makes a mess once you get it on your fingers.
LOL, Badshah called Babu out for stealing someone else's opinion! He *always* does that, and I get little tired of it. Shabash, Badshah! Aside from the many other things to use on pancakes mentioned, there is plain old sugar on top of the melted butter. It's surprisingly good - and cheap. I bet my mom got that from growing up in the Depression. Here in Oregon we produce lots of berries, so we have all kinds of berry syrups, too. Mmmm, marionberry syrup!
American pancakes with Canadian syrup....who says we can't get along? I have never even heard of mutton curry, but pancakes are made to be sweet. As usual, Ruby's veil and sari are very nice.
They said that Raeen was out of town for work but now I'm starting to wonder whether they're trying a new cast because they've ran out of ideas. Perhaps because making a bit of food is easier than translating videos.
I love maple flavor, especially real natural syrup! I've got a good recipe for really fluffy pancakes and they just soak up the syrup, so yummy. Of course Canadian famously in origin, also comes from northern US states like Vermont, etc. and is well known as a breakfast staple throughout the US with pancakes, waffles, french toast (personally I enjoy dipping a sausage link in it too 😋) typically served poured on top after a pat of butter has been allowed to melt on the hot food, and eaten with knife and fork since it's all rather sticky when you use a good amount of syrup!
Nobody mentioned tasting it, but I was really hoping that the cook had slathered some fresh creamery butter on each one of those pancakes before serving them. lol The butter melts on the hot pancake and blends in with the pure maple syrup, to create a little taste of Heaven! I do also hope that the producer explains why they're called "pancakes". They're fluffy little "cakes" that are cooked in a flat bottomed "pan". This is an explanation of how we make them in our home: 1) you make a slightly thick, but pourable batter with 2 Cups AP flour, 2 Lg eggs, 1&1/2 teaspoons EACH of baking powder and baking soda, 2&1/2 Cups buttermilk, 3 to 4 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons melted butter (not ghee) and a tiny pinch of salt. Some recipes call for a bit of vanilla but we don't use it. 2) mix the "dry" ingredients together well in a large bowl, hopefully one with a "pouring lip" on the side or even easier, an extra large glass measuring cup. Add the "wet" ingredients and mix everything well. It's OK if there are a couple of small lumps in the batter. 3) pour small circles of the batter into a flat-bottomed "pan" with a couple of pats of butter brushed on the bottom until melted. The batter should be thick enough not to spread out more than 4-5 inches across. 4) finally, cook the pancakes on a medium flame on one side, until you see several small bubbles form on the top of each pancake. Then... 5) flip them over with a spatula and cook them on the other side, for just a few minutes more, until they're puffed up slightly and are golden in color. I'm sure the pancakes they had today were very tasty, but they were a bit too thin for my tastes. It's possible that the recipe the cook found might have been meant for crepes, which are meant to be very light and thin. I'm sure that these good folks could watch a video tutorial on how to make the perfect pancake and then make them at home with basic ingredients that they probably have in every home. The only difficult part would be to get the pure maple syrup to pour over the finished pancakes. In a pinch, any sweet, simple syrup could be used or you could also pour a thin compote of fresh berries or sliced bananas that have been cooked for a little while in butter and brown sugar! Great video! 💛🕊🙏🏻
They got drunk off the taste of the pancakes and the syrup. Yeah it would have been nice to show them what a pancake is. They are still not used to using utensils the first time they told me using the spoon to pour the syrup but it worked
I like pancake-ok, not crazy over it-there are many ways to add pancake such as blueberry, chocolate chips, banana and other fruits/whatever as people love to add their pancakes. I love Swedish pancake with lingonberries, they are thinner cake like almost crepe. I am sure many people know honey is from beehives. Maple is different and is syrup from sap of maple trees. Show them video about how maple was making into syrup from maple trees.
Sometimes people make smaller pancakes to use as bread buns on sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches. Or even a hamburger sandwich. Instead of bread. Pancakes can be eaten in several ways.
It's so nice how they enjoyed the pancakes. I'm sure they can make them at home, they just have to mix milk, eggs and flour and, if they like, a bit of sugar. Some people use a little baking soda too, to make them even more fluffy. :) Pancakes are also delicious with apple sauce, fruit compott or jam like strawberry jam. You can actually make non-sweet ones as well, e.g. mix cooked peas and carrots pieces or corn in the batter and add a bit of salt, then bake them with oil in the pan as normal pancakes. (But I might be the only one who likes them like that. lol.)
Ok now, not only have they had pancakes..long ago.. (babu) anyway..but you showed them vids of how the sap was tapped from the trees and processed into syrup. But, Im sure the others are more than happy to get some also. lol.
Very nice video. I have to say the pancakes looked way too thin :) They need some nice fluffy ones, have them pour the syrup all over and enjoy again. Also, the lady is very pretty and has great teeth. :D
Where's the butter‽ Softened butter, whipped butter, or clarified butter (ghee) is essential on pancakes for the best flavors and taste. Often fruits (such as banana slices, whole blueberries, strawberry slices, etc.) are added before topping with syrup.
Did I miss it, or is there not any butter on the pancakes? You definitely want butter. And please explain to them what maple syrup actually is. Maybe show them a tapping video.

1) you make a slightly thick, but pourable batter with 2 Cups AP flour, 2 Lg eggs, 1&1/2 teaspoons EACH of baking powder and baking soda, 2&1/2 Cups buttermilk, 3 to 4 tablespoons of sugar, 3 tablespoons melted butter (not ghee) and a tiny pinch of salt.
Can eat pancakes with whatever you like, however in the USA it is usually in melted butter with maple syrup and jam.. but , gravy is fine too
They got drunk off the taste of the pancakes and the syrup. Yeah it would have been nice to show them what a pancake is. They are still not used to using utensils the first time they told me using the spoon to pour the syrup but it worked
Love you all!
Pancakes are best warm, with butter and syrup. Yummy 😁
True that pancakes or crepes are rather plain on their own. It's definitely the topping that gives it the flavour
try Pancake w/ Moose berries.........lol.
This would go great with Babu's morning tea.
Love Ruby. She isnt scared to be with babu. Shes lovely and confident
Pancakes are not just eaten for breakfast, they can be eaten whenever you get hungry, plus they're very easy to make too!
Enjoy
Sometimes people make smaller pancakes to use as bread buns on sausage and egg breakfast sandwiches. Or even a hamburger sandwich. Instead of bread. Pancakes can be eaten in several ways.
No melted butter on them? Show them an IHOP commercial and they can see a lot of ways of eating pancakes.
babu is getting fancy with his new glasses and new turban.
I'm glad they liked the 🥞 pancakes
It's so nice how they enjoyed the pancakes. I'm sure they can make them at home, they just have to mix milk, eggs and flour and, if they like, a bit of sugar. Some people use a little baking soda too, to make them even more fluffy. :)
Pancakes are also delicious with apple sauce, fruit compott or jam like strawberry jam. You can actually make non-sweet ones as well, e.g. mix cooked peas and carrots pieces or corn in the batter and add a bit of salt, then bake them with oil in the pan as normal pancakes. (But I might be the only one who likes them like that. lol.)
Add a little butter too and they will love it 🙂
I wish you'd told them where maple syrup comes from (trees). They might have found that interesting and surprising.
I put butter between each cake and slam the syrup on there like there is no tomorrow
7:25 brother babu 🤦♂️, this syrup will make any dish 🤤! ☝️😇👍
love these people
My OCD was going crazy watching only a teaspoon of syrup and eating pancakes with hands. I wish he would have told them to put a lot more on.
Brillant trio
Let them know we don't really eat mutton here but we DO eat ham with honey!!. Kind of similar.
The lady has such a lovely personality and she is beautiful too.
Ok now, not only have they had pancakes..long ago.. (babu) anyway..but you showed them vids of how the sap was tapped from the trees and processed into syrup. But, Im sure the others are more than happy to get some also. lol.
Really? And they don’t remember?
Need butter for those too.
They would flip out for French toast.
There's places in the high regions of their country where maple trees would grow perfectly.
Now for crepes with blueberries (forest ones are the tastiest.)
I get Vermont maple syrup, asI live in New Hampshire. I don't believe I have ever had Canadian maple syrup. I'm sure it would be good though.
Pancake and Dosa, Babu is wrong
Dosa is fermented rice and Vigna mungo, (also known as black gram)batter
I can see a similarity in appearance with pancake, crepe and roti, dosa. However there has be difference in how it's made
Similarly, I can see a similarity in appearance with honey and maple syrup
Very nice video. I have to say the pancakes looked way too thin :) They need some nice fluffy ones, have them pour the syrup all over and enjoy again. Also, the lady is very pretty and has great teeth. :D
Where's the butter‽
Softened butter, whipped butter, or clarified butter (ghee) is essential on pancakes for the best flavors and taste.
Often fruits (such as banana slices, whole blueberries, strawberry slices, etc.) are added before topping with syrup.
Please tell them where maple syrup comes from
Wonder how Badshah says “no”.
Did I miss it, or is there not any butter on the pancakes? You definitely want butter. And please explain to them what maple syrup actually is. Maybe show them a tapping video.
