    I love these! They are so adorable. You are right, cutting the fabric on the bias does make a nicer look for the lollipop.

    These can be sewn together rather than all of this gluing. They would probably last longer with no detached parts. You can sew a stitch or two through the button on the ribbon to hold it together and I'd use hot glue to attach it to the stick to make it more durable. Also, the same with the button on the front of the candy. I'd stitch through the ornament to attach it before gathering the back. It's probably also easier to put the hanger in, with a dab of fabric glue on the knot, before gathering the back. I've made a similar one before, but the stripes never aligned like yours. Terrific idea to cut on the bias and make that swirl!

      Without the stick, u could go to a craft store and get some clear wrap & wrap each one like a peppermint candy disc.

    I really like those. Thanks! Hope I can find time to make a dozen for this Christmas and gifts.
    I like everything done right now though so I think I would use hot glue or fabri tac.

    Absolutely adorable!! I can't wait to make some for myself! Since you've helped with figuring out how to make different sizes, I think I'll make a smaller version for my mini tree's too!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!

    So darn cute! Filing this away for next year! The only change I will make is putting the hanger in before closing the back. It would be easier for me than locating my steel crochet hook lol

    I love these lollipop ornaments! I'm so happy I found your wonderful video now while I still have time to make some for this Christmas! You are very creative and your video with instructions are so clear and helpful. Thank you for sharing your talents!

    They are Darling! I love them. You always make me smile. Thank you!
    I would promise to make these, but I can't, my hands are giving me a fit right now, but I just may have to get my daughter to make me some of these for me. I just love Christmas ornaments. Although I have a ton of Christmas "things", they are getting so old that, some of them just have to be replaced. Making them yourself makes them so special too. Bless

    if you made a hole in the middle of your cardboard circle, you could sew buttons to the center back to back, you could even use those shank ornamental buttons for the center. cute idea, thanks

    Thank you so much for such a fun idea...I think I will use some of the fabrics I have in my quilt bin. Maybe get the striped too.

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  11 років тому

      If you make them with a non-striped fabric you can do them with just a regular yo-yo made from a 5" circle of fabric. Then you can make a tiny slit on the edge to insert the lillipop stick. I made a few like that but liked the striped fabric better so stuck with that!

    This is PERFECT for the sewing project that I am doing. Your tutorial is so clear and easy to use. However, I do have one question, if you could answer it... What would be the formula on making larger versions of these? I of course would find the circumference of my insert to determine the initial length of cut... but how would I determine what the width piece would be? Or do you have a standard chart that you've figured out, i.e.... add so many inches per size of your insert. Thanks!!!

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  9 років тому

      Amanda Fouse For the length, you do the circumference plus 1/2" for seam allowances but the width is a bit harder to figure out. In a perfect world, it would be the diameter plus 1/2" for seam allowance but you have a hole in the center of the yo-yo that gets bigger as the yo-yo gets bigger. The more stitches you make going around, the larger the hole will be so you'll need a thinner strip and the less stitches you make, the smaller the hole and the wider your beginning strip. You'll have to play around with it to get it so the insert fits well for you. Sorry there is no definitive answer for you.

    • @Mandy-hm8og
      @Mandy-hm8og 9 років тому

      Crouton Crackerjacks Thanks so much for the quick response!!! Your answer makes sense to me! I will take some scrap fabric that I have laying around and play with it a bit until I can get the right size for my discs. Thanks again!!!

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  11 років тому

      Thanks Sue! Ironically, I don't have many ornaments. Not enough to fill a tree anyway. Most of the ones I do have were received as part of an ornament exchange here on YT last year and the year before. Almost all the ornaments I make I give away to friends and family. And I've debating doing a 'Draw My Life' video but just never have. Maybe some day. ;-)

    The bad Persian in me is all about Christmas decor. Maybe it's the Fabulous Gay in me but I love everything Christmas. Is this your own idea? Why the craft glue instead of hot glue? Just curious, not that I will ever make these. lol They are just flipping adorable. they sure would garland to hang in a window.

    • @croutoncrackerjacks
      @croutoncrackerjacks  11 років тому +2

      HAHA!! I absolutely love everything Christmas too! The yoyo lolli's aren't my original idea and neither is doing the pinwheel design. But never did I see the pinwheel yo-yo's used to make the lolli's so I guess kinda sorta my idea but not really. ;-) And you could certainly use a hot glue gun but mine is packed away somewhere. The craft glue was accessible. :-)

      I'm not sure how else you could do them other than forgoing the fabric altogether and just painting or coloring on the posterboard and then going from there. But I don't see why those couldn't be just as cute!
