Most so-called conspiracy theories are supported by direct and circumstantial evidence. Voter fraud in 2020 is a good example. The idea that Joe Biden, a guy who couldn't get three people into a high school gym to hear him speak, got 20 million more votes than when Barack Obama was at the top of the ticket, is an example of circumstantial evidence of widespread fraud. Likewise, the idea that 94% of all registered voters voted in 2020 is another example of circumstantial evidence of widespread fraud. A further example of circumstantial evidence of widespread fraud is that my grandmother, dead for over 20 years, received a mail in ballot. Yet another example of circumstantial evidence is how Democrats furiously resisted monitoring the ballot drop boxes with security cameras. As far as the assassination attempt is concerned, there is more circumstantial evidence of it being a hit by the Never Trump Republicans and Radical Left Democrats than there was circumstantial evidence in the OJ case. I could be here all day, but let's start with how both groups wanted Nikki Haley as the nominee and the shooting happened two days before the RNC convention.

I certainly remember Russell Brand referencing it.
I got into conspiracy theories around 2002 and after maybe two years moved on. The problem is not asking questions, challenging power, speculating to be vigilent etc. The problem with conspiracy theorists is the laziness. They would have much more credibility and we would be in much less of a mess if they'd just double check everything and back up as many claims as possible with real evidence.

Lex, I appreciate your statement. When I was attending graduate school, one of my professors was about as far to the left (in the American political spectrum) as you could get. He knew that I was very conservative. However, we became very good friends. I enjoyed his lectures -- even if I disagreed with many of his opinions. He pointed out that what endeared me to him was the fact that I not only knew what I believed but the reasons WHY I believed those things. I could defend just about any opinion. I also made the effort to understand the opinions of others.
This professor attended my wedding. My wife and I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for work. Yet, even now, this professor and I still correspond by email and phone calls. He asks my opinions. I ask his opinions. He told me that I was the only person that he knew that predicted a Trump victory in 2016. He also asked for my opinion on the 2020 election and what it would mean for 2024. I asked him the same. I'm still voting for President Trump. I suspect that he will still vote for whoever the Democratic Party's nominee will be. However, we haven't lost friendship over this.
Unfortunately, this is rare in today's bipolar sociopolitical world. The "us versus them" position is difficult to stomach. I live in a divisive area where a "wrong" political bumper sticker might result in finding your tires slashed or your car paint keyed. It's a shame, really.
It's an interesting phenomenon. Im a Trump voter, not really a Republican, lean for conservative on many issues but not all. I have not been able to have one real conversation with a liberal or Democrat, they they are unwilling to get into anything but feelings and vitriol. It's sad.
It’s their security blanket. They would rather convince themselves to believe the lies then wake up to the truth. People just aren’t ready to believe that the institutions are corrupt. Worlds crumble under less pressure.

I always try to have meaningful conversations with other people regardless of their political views but I also expect the same. However I'm not from the US and even if our division left-right is also deep (I can see that in my family) however it doesn't reach the levels what's going on in US.
And I have to say that much of this divide is spilling from the US because before 2016 there wasn't so much vitriol in politics. Yes, there were divides and people who voted for different parties were always bickering but this left-right split hadn't reached such levels until 2016.

This is all very simple. We let establishments run the country. Both parties have to play and listen to their prospective people in power, donors, lobbyists etc. Voters and the government play a minimal role in deciding which policies are written, who the candidates are, and what the foreign policy is. Just look at how the republican party chose Trump even though he fired everyone that was around him during his presidential years. Or how Bidens, Clintons and Obamas let Joe Biden make a fool of himself all the way to the end, and chose to replace him with Kamala Harris, a figure that has even less charisma then Hillary Clinton. Now, who in their right mind would vote for Kamala? What does she bring to the table? These are all games played by people who idolize power and money.
Yeah, both parties like to pretend that only the other party is like that, but parties are told what to do.

Having been an registered independent for almost 35 years, there is only one side looking for unity while the other keeps dividing us into smaller and smaller victim groups. Truly! Look at the way the RNC treated Trump vs the way the DNC treated Bernie and RFK Jr., for instance. Hillary was simply careless with classified documents, Joe was too old and senile to indict, Trump got the Mar-a-Lago treatment. The “Summer of Love” riots, even attacks on a federal courthouse and police, go virtually unpunished and were actually applauded by Democrats. 1/6 was immediately labeled an “insurrection”. … and so on. There just is no left right, Republican Democrat equivalence.

I can relate, I'm from the part of the family that is more liberal and even though my mother is devouted catcholic she has never been hard-right. However some part of family is pretty involved in politics and drifted much to the right and I remember one situation when someone started some topic about contentious issue son-in-law of my aunt who is on the right side said "here we don't talk politics". And I have no problem with that but this only applies to the one view of the world because when they talk about topics that suits them there is no problem, it's just like a double standard. And unfortunately in last years that divide has widened which is saddening because even some post on facebook about topic that is not to someone likening could be a spark for heated discussion. This state of the world is sickening it won't lead to anything positive and you can see that there are more and more extreme voices coming into politics.

If you think that shot was staged you clearly know nothing about ballistics. Imagine staging a shot from 130 yards with an, at best, 2 MOA rifle and a 2-3 MOA red dot on top of it in which the ear on a moving target is deliberately hit. Finding the truth is actually a lot less difficult nowadays with all the angles footage of the event was taken from as compared to the singular Zapruder film in 1963.
As if the first debate going poorly for Biden wasn't enough of a bump, you genuinely believe Trump would stage his own assassination attempt. LMAO
P.S. The secret service didn't need to orchestrate the whole thing, but to simply create an environment in which such an attempt can even take place through gross negligence.

I'm a Democrat, I've always been opposed to Trump and what he stands for. When I learned about what happened on July 13th, I felt sick. I felt a sense of guilt because I don't like Trump, and at times, I've wished he would be out of my life and American political life. Never did I wish for something like this to happen.

As an European I find it bizzare that you had to explain yourself wishing good health. The person miraculously survived and wishing fast recovery feels like a humane thing to do, but it immediately got politicized.
Yet another thing is a degree of negativity towards people of a different side of the political spectrum and the fact, that attitude towards a person depends more on political views rather than the actual character of the person, which I find just absurd. It's just so strange and hateful. So I wish you, dear Americans, to overcome modern difficulties and learn to tolerate each other better despite the differences on political and ideological views.

The reason politics in this country has become so hate filled and dishonest is because they no longer view each other as humans.
They're no rarer than the past. There's likely more as we evolve. It's just who you've been exposed to in your particular life.

That’s not to say I never run into people that I believe are still genuinely trying to be good people.
This is why I firmly believe that people in politics , media and social media have created and now live in a completely different reality than most of us do.

In my experience, every single person who has been Republican spews such hatred and division like Trump. They are filled with anger unless they get exactly what they want.
