    Hearing your REAL voice makes me so happy! I know it's sooo much more work, but It's such a great thing to hear the creator's true voice. Keep it up!

      Thank you for the support! It’s been a struggle so far, but I hope it will get better with time.

    I like that you are building a Lego city with trams and no cars. Having a walkable city with public transit and bikes makes for a more livable city.

      @wyk3982 You got in before me! I couldn't agree more 👍

      Thank you! However, I'm starting to encounter my first issue, which I’ll discuss in future videos.

    7:32 That one is actually my favourite Modular.

    The breakdown for how you plan to build your city was great. Can’t wait to see how you combine the town square and Tudor Corner, two of my favorite sets!

      I’ve built my first MOC of the Town Square, but it still needs some adjustments. I really hope it will turn out well. Stay tuned for more details!

    Minimizing costs is essential for me -- my money, obviously not unlimited, I want to devote to sets and MOCs -- but I do want more sturdy foundations. So, I use non-Lego plates -- legitimate and high-quality (based on research/experience -- Strickly Briks is excellent) and I'm very pleased.

    I'm really looking forward to seeing your city come together!

    Fair play you included the pricing. Many lego youtubers seem to 'forget" that Lego parts are expensive.

      I think cost should be the first thing we should discuss when talking about MILS plates. I didn’t include the price of the tiling layer, which makes these plates even more expensive. So, if someone wants to commit to them, the overall cost is really high.

    Another great video!
    You have the most aesthetically pleasing MILS plates I've ever seen, because most people will use whatever bricks they have to save money, which is understandable. I would be happy hiding multiple colours that can't be seen, but would need to match them to the plates on the outside!
    Does this mean that you swap all the hidden mismatched bricks that Lego supplies in the modular buildings, as in the basement of the Police Station, for example?!

      Thank you! The modular buildings are simply lifted up, remaining unchanged, while the MILS plates are entirely grey. However, there will be a few modifications to the plates, which I’ll showcase in upcoming videos.

    I’ve just built my third modular building, and I’m ready to start phasing them over to mils. This design is great, I will consider some of these designs!

    I truly love the quality of all of your videos, however, the new voice really throws me off.
    I love using MILS. I was hesitant to start using the system but ever since I started, I feel like I could never go back to a system without it. I personally add more support and use smaller tiles to give it more strength. I can comfortably pick up my modular buildings with one hand thanks to the structural support.

      I’m sorry to hear that, especially since I know you’ve been with me almost from the start. Trust me, I also struggle with my voice, and it takes me much longer to record and edit the audio now compared to when I was using AI. But since people voted for a real voice, I have to accept that. I’m hoping it’ll improve over time, just like the video quality did. I really appreciate your feedback.

    I have all my modular on mils plate, it’s soooo much easier to move them around

    48x48 MILS is quite rare. I guess you picked this size because of the Ikea tables. Keep the updates coming, I am looking forward to your Lego City!

    • @lukasthebuilder
      @lukasthebuilder  5 днів тому +1

      The largest size is mainly due to the tram system, which I’ll discuss more in future videos. However, I might use a mix of 32x32 and 48x48.

    I did the math on mils plating and green plates and found i was able to do about $8 in addition to the 32x32 baseplate, if I didn't line the outside, and used 1x2 technic bricks, and 4x8 plates, I was trying to link a spreadsheet for it, but it won't let me, calculating # of 2x2's needed, plates, etc etc.

    I use third party plates (Stricktly Bricks, very good quality) for my MILS, and generic baseplates from Lidl. I bought Lego baseplates once or twice but 8€ for a wobbly and so thin plastic injected 32x32 plate is a shame IMHO. I then build MILS to put my modulars on them. Even my train tracks are non-Lego (TrixBrick, excellent qualtiy). Thx for the video !

      @lukasthebuilder  5 днів тому +1

      I also just ordered baseplates from Lidl-I didn’t know they sold LEGO, and the price was pretty reasonable. I also picked up a few train tracks from TrixBrick, but I’ll be discussing that in future videos.
