Hi. I have both an 7" and 8" Kingfisher telescopic rods. What reels are recommended for these? I was thinking that either a baitcaster or a spinning reel would work, though the rod guide closest to the reel is not as big as for a proper spinning rod. I was thinking of either a 2000 or a 2500 size. Any advice will be appreciated

Hi Manie, thanks for your comment. You are quite right, a 2000 or 2500 reel would pair correctly to both the 7' and 8' rods. Something like a Crossfire would be great with mono line attached. Where do you plan to fish? That will determine the reel best to pair it with.

Just another question....I have always fished with Floro. What would the difference be with mono?

Fluorocarbon is more abrasive resistant than monofilament line, it is invisible in water and when you pull it tight it will lie straight which is a key feature. If your mainline is braid or mono it is a good idea to use fluorocarbon as a leader. Hope that helps. Tight lines
