Congratulations petersen!!! Perhaps the best cockpit video (based on quality and sound) around in youtube. Looking forward to watch more vids like this
@Thebmwisthebest Is it because they are forced to rely on it because they feel particularly lazy and think the AP can do a better job when they themselves are capable?
Do you mean in the bottom left hand corner? That's the chronometer (stopwatch). They start that when the engines are set to take-off power at the beginning of takeoff. The reason for this is that there is a limitation on the time you can use TOGA (max power) - 10 minutes for single engine and 5 minutes for both engines operating. The crew can get the flight time and brake off/brakes on time from the FMGS.
They press the 'chrono' button (chronometer) which activates a digital clock that runs for the entire flight. If you look closely you can see it popping up on the navigation display at 3:58
We start the clocks when we are taking off for an oceanic crossing incase you loose nav your math is taken care of for waypoint crossings/position reports, this is out of our TOE guide "Start clocks just before advancing power (if desired...technique only)" Some old-timer started this technique a 100 years ago and everybody just does it. Theres ten ways of doing everything. one way could be to start your clock over your first coast out entry but I would probably forget so... "clocks".
as far as i know the third pilot is the SFO - he will take over the captain seat on cruise above a certain flight level, so the captain can relax. This is normal on nearly all long range flights.
at that time you can see a piece of information pop up on the Navigation display when he pushes that button, later on, if you pause at 5:18 you can see that that´s the chronometer which is at the 1min20sec mark. the TOGA is a position down in the thrust levers. Why they push chrono at takeoff I do not know, but I can ask around at my flight school =)
@Bango61 Nothing wrong with that. ATC will in many situations grant the 250 limit to be exceeded. It would happen during areas of low traffic, and where it helps the controller control the traffic flow more easily.
Hejsa! Et spørgsmål... Hvordan fik du intercom over til kameraet? Min far er kaptajn på CRJ-900 og jeg har prøvet at finde ud af det, set i manualer osv, but no where to find! :)
@Jonte7RM Ok i see. But i find it strange because pilots are trained to fly in clouds and all they have to do is follow the FD plus fly-by-wire makes it easier so i dont why they need AP with all that help. Yeah i guess airline policy makes a difference, if thats what you meant.
I thought the first officer should be hold the throttle on full power before V1 if they need to abort take off...but maybe thats on planes where the captain needs to hav both hands on the controls.
This has to be one of my favourite cockpit videos. Love those engine sounds!
I love the sounds from the engines during take-off. Very nice video!
Congratulations petersen!!! Perhaps the best cockpit video (based on quality and sound) around in youtube. Looking forward to watch more vids like this
Very high quality of the movie. Well done!!!
You are inspiring the next generation of pilots!
Brilliant as always, a man who knows what is essential at flightdeck.
it was my favourite video at a time last yr. i used to watch it everyday lol.
Thank you for showing us these excellent videos. I always wonder what it looks like from the flight deck of these amazing machines.
I love this video, I keep watching it over and over again, especially the throttle up ;)
Why was the autopilot switched on so soon after takeoff?
Congratulations once again love that airplane , but my 1st choise is the mighty A 340-600 . the monster, Congrats fellow:):)!!!!
that spool up sound is so beautiful.........
wow..tks for posting part 2!
Wow how fast he engages the AP :)
Great video :)
@Thebmwisthebest Is it because they are forced to rely on it because they feel particularly lazy and think the AP can do a better job when they themselves are capable?
no words...spectacular...thanks....
Just love the engine spooling sound
Wow that's nice! Howcome you were sitting there??
Nice video , what was the visibility at takeoff?

@Drpepperman1885 it depends. this a330 is equiped with rolls royce trent 700, but they also can use General Eletric CF6-80E1A3 or PW4168A !
Nice video thanks! Do you remember what was your Vr? :)
Great video and gorgeous engine sound *-*
thanks mmmpetersen, your video is awesome
Awesome vid! Do you work in SAS ?
@mmmpetersen I wish everybody thought like you dude..well done for doing such amazing vids and not sell them ;)
@mmmpetersen Thank you so much for your major contributions! I have actually learnt quite a lot from your videos. :D
up there it may be the auto throttle or something concerning the PFD because the to/GA is found near the thrust levers
I love that sound of the engines after the ATC says cleared for takeoff 3:59
mmmpetersen !! how do u manage to get in the cockpit ?? lol!! btw wats the reason of that third pilot ??
They press the 'chrono' button (chronometer) which activates a digital clock that runs for the entire flight. If you look closely you can see it popping up on the navigation display at 3:58
Nice video, I thought that the trim before take off must not go over 3.0° up, and in this video trim are at 7.0 °up, is it normal?

It's the chronometer (stopwatch). One push for start, one push for stop, and two fast clicks for reset.
Great Video! Thanks for sharing!
nice video like the sound of the a330
as far as i know the third pilot is the SFO - he will take over the captain seat on cruise above a certain flight level, so the captain can relax. This is normal on nearly all long range flights.
@mmmpetersen Awww.... I wont sleep with ya but that was very nice. Thanks mate, these videos are really awesome!

HD 1080p rules!

The sound is amazing!!
thanks for upload!
@olioli917 for takeoff he used FLEX. He reduces it to CL(imb) after thrust reduction.
@bixel2m can you tell me at which point in the video so i can see for myself?
@Thebmwisthebest what doy you mean? airline policy?
@mmmpetersen Thanks for sharing mate! Appreciate your generosity!
great video! thanx!
3:56 why do the pilots press that button?
i see the engine power grow up, is that the TO/GA?
how to turn the aircraft on the ground? with rudder or what??
does he have the throttles set on CL for takeoff?
Is that runway 22R?
what kind of engines does Airbus use???
A330, love the sound.
Being a pilot is a lot more than just "driving" the plane!!!
Hejsa!
Et spørgsmål... Hvordan fik du intercom over til kameraet? Min far er kaptajn på CRJ-900 og jeg har prøvet at finde ud af det, set i manualer osv, but no where to find! :)
@mmmpetersen so kind of u.Thanks,it's really enjoyable vid :)
@mmmpetersen Hvordan kan du få lov til at være i cockpitet?
no sir, set power, arm autopilot and monitore navegation on de chart, if have a turbulence, disconect autopilot and control the airplane on hand
maybe an ATC re route?
that takeoff sounded scary!
awesome sound

One day, I'll be sitting in those seats :)
Can't you hold the camera steady dude/ not even when the plane is at a complete stop?
Unreal.
@Rucra1 What ever it is, its great!(The ones in this video)
Very nice!
Just one question: how come he was at more than 250 KIAS while being below 10000 ft of altitude ?? isn't that forbidden ?
You can request high speed under 10000ft to the ATC.
Mathieu Guignès On departures from Copenhagen, the speed limit is 250 knots below 7000 ft.
that was someamazing stuff
amazing !!
Awesome!
I thought the first officer should be hold the throttle on full power before V1 if they need to abort take off...but maybe thats on planes where the captain needs to hav both hands on the controls.
swedish pilotes?
Oh my god please buy a camera with image stabilization.
okay.. thank you very much for you information.. :D
The captain look a lot like Fabian Stang. He is the Norwegian mayor of Oslo.
Very good dear. ;)
Yeah, real easy! You should give it a shot! Only please do it in a simulator so there's no immediate loss of life/property once you reach 60 knots.
@MrLoveWhiteBoy YES
The comment at 2:37. "Alright then, we haven't forgot that many things have we?" Answer: "No.. I don't think so." :)
It should be free so everyone can enjoy !
But anyway thanks .
Cool!
I agree!!!
isn't the auto throttle, that is down the speed control on AP, really nobody knows wht's this?
if it is so easy why won't you do it?
@323tiim yeah!
Aviation fun I love to travel
5:20 Sounds like my fridgerator....
That’s actually pretty cool, a Rolls Royce Fridge
You were well over 250 knots below 10,000 feet...
The third person it's a fly navigator!!!!!
Shake shake shake....OMG!!
nice ...
is it the captian that says "sitter du bra?" because it sounds like a swedish guy ,)
6:10 What a pathetic climb rate. We do 3-4000 a min in the Embraer at this alt. Not 6-700 min
@RolfTrondheim dude i am from sweden
you are so lucky :D
nice ! +5
@thepsp619 Anything is possible when you have a bottle of absolut vodka to bribe the pilots.
Again we only start clock on a crossing never on a domestic leg. --o-O-o--
omg he forgott his steering wheel !
